Great product, it works perfectly. Like all thin glass products, it breaks very easily so be very careful. If you're clumsy like me, definitely buy two and have one as a backup. When cleaned and dried, definitely put it back in the hard plastic case that it came in to avoid breakage.

I have been using an older version of this hydrometer for many years for beer and wine making, and it's been very precise and reliable. I mostly used the SG readings and the Alcohol Potential, but it was always spot on. I unfortunately broke my older one after cleaning it when it slipped out of my hands, and was incredibly disappointed. Luckily, they're still around, and the new one looks just as good as the previous! I haven't been able to test its complete efficiency yet. I was trying to compare it to the older one, and the scale is seated a little bit lower, but there is also a little less sealant and more beads in the bottom, so I'm assuming it's just been offset and re-calibrated to work properly. Time will tell, but if it's anything like the previous version, I will absolutely get a lot of use out of it. Highly recommended!

Hydrometer works very well & is clearly marked for my use. The one downside for me was the tube that holds the liquid for the readings...the tube is OPAQUE instead of CLEAR plastic. I found it difficult to see the level of liquid for an accurate reading. This is the only negative I've found.

Well packaged, easy to read and use. Get the kit, the graduated cylinder makes taking readings much easier and you can use it with another tool to measure proof. If you're distilling at home and getting somewhat serious about it, definitely get this product as it takes the guess work out and helps insure consistent, repeatable results. Wish it was made to use at 75F not 60F but that's just how things go - I think all hydrometers are made to work at this temperature. Seems like this product wouldn't survive being dropped but that's not a fault of this product but a general rule for glass measuring tools. I take it out of the package, use it, and return to included padded package to avoid this risk.

I purchased this for homebrewing. Very happy with it. Nice protective case and love the bag to protect the graduated cylinder. The pipe cleaner has held up well also!

Difficult to read where the lines and numbers meet with the liquid its floating in, due to the color... at least for beer specific gravity. Not a fan of the visual design, but otherwise it comes well packaged, and is typically fragile glass. Needed a replacement to my OG hydrometer that lasted nearly 10 years without breaking, until one unfortunate mishap. Anyhow, this is a fancy looking thing but I think they overcomplicated the design.
