Description

In Swedish and Norwegian with English subtitles. A few days after Christmas, half-sisters Ida and Tuva set out on a winter dive in a remote part of the Norwegian coastline. Towards the end of the dive, a rockslide traps Tuva under water. As Ida surfaces to call for help, she discovers that the rockslide has struck above water as well, burying their equipment, phones and car keys they are completely cut off from any chance of outside rescue. As the frantic race for survival unfolds, Ida is put to the ultimate test of character and forcefulness. During Ida's fight to save Tuva, a fractured sisterhood is exposed, and when all seems lost, the stakes rise beyond simple survival. Review Instead of sharks and a required suspension of belief, writer/director Joachim Hedén opts for realism and ingenious situations, creating one of the most intense and propulsive survival thrillers in recent memory. --Meagan Navarro , Bloody Disgusting From a cast led by women in intensely physical roles to impressive independent production value in the underwater world of scuba diving, writer/director Joachim Hedén delivers a ticking-clock drama that, at just 82 minutes, gets right to the action and keeps the momentum high throughout. --Lisa Trifone, Third Coast Review

  • Really Intense and Really Good.
Along the lines of Fall, Frozen, and 47 Meters down - and just as good if not better in some aspects. A minor disappointing point is you have to turn on subtitles because it's a foreign language film however there isn't a lot of dialog so it isn't that much of a distraction.

  • Riveting!
Loved the dynamics between the two sisters which was dramatically offset by the life or death events that took place underwater.

  • overall quite good but one annoying plot device
I did like the story and how the movie was made. What I found profoundly annoying is the fact (spoiler) that Ida could not get into the car trunk. I mean, how hard it is to find the trunk release handle. It is always located near the steering wheel, no matter what car it is. And if not that, you can always fold the back seats and get in there from inside. I found the fact that she could not figure it out so ridiculous, I almost turned the movie off. Otherwise, quite good. ... show more

  • Entertaining
Fun movie with a contained story, pros: filmed very well and plenty of tension filled moments, cons: could have chopped 20 minutes out of this, the story feels very contrived, characters find convenient ways out of situations. The script needed more work in development.

  • Good movie
I enjoyed this movie. I was expecting a run of the mill shark movie or another 47 meters down. It wasn't either. It takes place on a cold snowing day and sister is trapped in a lake, not ocean. So no sharks. The sister doing the rescue has the worse luck. No matter what she tries there is some obstacle in her way. Would be my luck! Good movie. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Outstanding!
An intense roller coaster ride that does not dumb down diving or heroic efforts from its characters. Top notch stuff!

  • Absolute idiot
Not even halfway through the movie and I don't see it recovering at this point. I was already annoyed by characters pretty early on, her sister was cheeky about hiding her smoking habit from their mom by feeding cigarette butts to her own dog, which didn't seem like a very main character thing to do. Ida is an idiot, frustratingly so, she has not only reacted poorly at every opportunity, she has chosen the worst possible option and fumbled every subsequent act. I can forgive a lot in the name of building intensity, but I am bored with the stupidity. Ida couldn't figure out a trunk release in the car, and instead of searching for a moment more, spent the next God knows how long smashing the trunk with a rock, trying to cut through the backseat, trying the rock again, dropping air tanks yelling at a plane, getting lost looking for the tank, WALKING a mile to a house only to break in and KILL THEIR DOG because it defended it's home, give up on anything else in the house other than a blunt instrument to try smashing the trunk open again... which I guess she didn't find the car jack because now we're ripping a sign out of the ground... I don't care what happens, I haven't given up on a movie hallway through more than a handful of times, but I have no interest in finding out what happens in this dumpster fire. ... show more
