This back brace was a little expensive but well worth the money. Works to help my sciatic pain and lumbar spine pain. I typically wear it all day at work and it really does help. It was easy to alter the size and easy to put on. I recommend for those with lower back pain.

    • The only brace that works
I have a herniated disk and my L2 L3 are narrowing. Threw out my back making the bed (yea something that simple) was miserable for weeks. I borrowed my dads Aspen Corset brace fit by an orthopedic doctor when he had lumbar fractures a few years ago and I noticed the difference immediately. The stability is incredible allowing my back to heal within a few days. Got me thinking to get one for myself called his doctor's office was told it would cost $1300 and requires a prescription so another $250 for the visit. So I compared the Aspen brace to this one, visually, the back lumbar corset MUST BE AS TALL and it is!! Feels just like the Aspen brace in the back except the front is less bulky more comfortable and can be warn under clothes. The pully system is an absolute game changer!!! I took one star off because the corset string could be thicker like the expensive Aspen medical brace but for the price I cant really complain so I'll come back and upgrade to five stars if the string holds up. OVERALL JUST THRILLED to have this product and it's priced right. The only warning I would give is your back literally does nothing while wearing this brace both my doctor and physical therapist told me not to wear it indefinitely because over time it will make my back weaker. Please follow your Doctor or Physical therapist advice I am on an exercise routine hoping I won't need it for much longer. Good luck! UPDATE to five stars the strings have held up to repeated use. I didn't get a lot of relief from wearing the belt but it did keep me from slouching down much when sitting and helped me keep more upright while walking. Seemed to be a good design.

    • Item does what it is supposed to do
O.K., I hesitated on ordering this thing, as it looks like a strait jacket. On reconsideration, it has to look like that, to provide the needed support to the back. I can definitely feel the area of the back that is getting supported, when I pull the cord to tighten it up. I specifically could feel the area of the back that bothers me, to which I pulled a little tighter. I have found that this item is effectively, when positioned/tightened properly. You need to make sure that you have it in the proper area of your back, and do not pull the handles too tightly, as it may affect your breathing (at least it did to me). The other issue, and again this may be just me, it caused some heat/small sweat in my back. I could not wear this outside on a warm day, and DEFINITELY NOT on a hot day. My only other small gripe is that it is a hand washable item. For my initial usage, I just am wearing it around the house, over my shirt. If I wear it out, I would want it under my shirt, which means on my body. That is where the hand washing would come into play, where if you are wearing it frequently, next to your body, you would need to clean it often. Overall, not really a big deal, if you want you back to feel o.k., just a small annoyance. Your choice, clean, or have your back hurting. I will clean, than you. ... show more

    • Definite improvement in just a few weeks!
I have had lower back pain for several years, due to arthritis. It had gotten to the point that I couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes, on a good day, and less than 5 minutes when I had to sweep a floor. Medication, both oral and topical, provided minimal relief and the more I used it, it became less effective. The back brace the doctor recommended came with a price tag of $1,200.00, and no guarantee it would help. When I saw this version, very similar in style to the more expensive one, I decided to give it a try. I wear it when I am cleaning, doing yard work and walking the dog. I can tell a remarkable difference in just the few weeks that I have had it. My stamina is better even when I am not wearing the brace, but I am sure to have it on when I do anything that I expect to cause irritation to the lower back area. I may have to resort to the more expensive one in the future, but for now, this is just what I need. ... show more

    • A little bulky
It does not relieve my pain as well as I had hoped and can't be worn under pants or shirt. Since it can't, access to wallet and phone are VERY difficult.
