I typically tear off about 1 foot sections whenever I use this abrasive going from low to high grit just like any normal person would do. When my 600 got low I thought it was a little soon but didn't think much of it. Then my 150 ran out and I investigated. I've got roughly 8 feet left of the 240, 320 and nearly 12 feet of the 400. I'm very aware that there is going to be variations in the lengths that I use but there is no way that they were this much. 1 inch sections that are 20 feet long? I don't think so. Not mine anyway. I haven't used much of the product, but the little I used so far seems like a quality product and it lasts a reasonable time. The metal holder has many semi-sharp edges that really need to be filed off. The cardboard shaft (think toilet paper tube) on which the rolls of emery paper are mounted is really cheap crap but with reasonably careful handling should last. A nice feature is that the metal holder has a piece that acts as a cut off blade. It works reasonably well. ... show more

So this is crazy. This is a nice product. The sandcloth backing is a strong, fiberlike material but you have to fix the box before you use it. The cutter blade on the box is backwards. You can tug with all your strength and it won't cut. I had to drill the rivets out, turn the blade around, and rerivet it. Works well now. What a pain. Too much trouble. I won't buy it again ... show more

Great selection of the grits required to quickly make a smooth basic finish on all wood. Handy tear-off strip dispenser. The sandpaper strips themselves are high quality, slow to clog with even fine woods, and last a long time when used properly on a wood turning project. Like all good sandpaper, it’s important to match your work with the right lathe speed, and let the sandpaper do the work using correct (coarser to finer grits) technique and not trying to quickly force the smoothing process. These progressively finer grits also work best by blowing or brushing off the previous sanding grit thoroughly, before changing to the next finest; this stops you gouging the wood with a scratch that the finer grade of grit won’t remove. ... show more

I burn through these sandpaper rolls doing my woodturning. This metal rack is simple, sturdy and easy to mount. I keep it right above my late and love it’s ease of use. The grit sizes are etched in the metal and it makes tearing off strips simple. I highly recommend.

The box is just OK. The sandpaper looks fine. The holes in the box had to be cut open in order to feed the sandpaper through. I am going to use scissors to cut the sandpaper to length instead of their flimsy cutting bar. I am tempted to buy a metal holder for the roles of sandpaper

Maybe adding longer rolls of sandpaper would make this a bigger bang for the buck - but it can’t be beat for convenience! Having a small lot of sandpaper right on my benchtop - orderly & contained - is really helpful. The metal cutting edge makes tearing off small pieces fast & easy.
