  • Great bike, but has some annoying quirks
Style: Bowflex VeloCore 22 IC Bike
Firstly, even though I'm only giving 3 stars, I do love this bike so far, but I think some things should be better/different because of the price. Firstly, the seat is uncomfortable. I realize you should be trying to keep your butt off the seat for most of the exercise, but I have some old Army injuries and I'm trying to get back in shape, so I need the seat at the moment. There's an upgraded seat you can buy on the Boflex website, which I'll have to get, but for the moment I have a thick folded towel rubberbanded to the seat for some extra cushion. Secondly, the adjustment handles should be knobs, especially the one for adjusting the seat height. The handles should be flush with the frame after tightening, but mine are askew. I've found that this is especially problematic for the seat height adjuster because if the handle is sticking out to the side and not flush with the frame my leg hits it. I have to overtighten it to make sure it's straight and keep the seat from sliding down. The same goes for the adjuster for sliding the seat forward and back, but the problem there less in that it hits the frame when you're trying to tighten if you have the seat further forward. Next, I wish I could put the handlebars higher I find myself putting them higher than the point that says stop because I like to sit more upright due to past injuries. Maybe I'll be able to lean forward more when I'm in better shape, but it would be nice to be able to safely put them higher. It would be great if I could change the angle to lean them more toward me as well. Finally, if you want to use third-party apps you must have a paid membership. You get a complimentary paid membership for the first year at no cost, but after that, you're on the hook. The Jrny workouts are cool and all, but tbh I just want to watch Netflix or whatever while I work out. I borderline feel like I should have gotten a cheaper bike with a tablet holder and a tablet because of this. We'll see how it goes with this whole Jrny thing, but Boflex shouldn't be shocked if I or anyone else jailbreak their bike's computer or replaces the operating system entirely to use it as a regular tablet that can access the third-party apps they want at no extra cost. Oh, and one last thing - I'd like to have the choice to plug the bike's power adapter in from the front or the back. Right now it can only be plugged in from the front. It reaches my outlet just fine, but I have the bike facing away from the outlet, so the cable is stretched across the floor along the frame of the bike. I'll probably tape it on the frame to be extra safe and avoid a tripping hazard. Other than that, it's a great bike. The only thing that doesn't have me returning it over the third-party app issue is the lean feature. Some people say it isn't worth it and it doesn't add that much to the workout, but I like it. Even if it doesn't do much for the workout itself, I find that it makes it more interesting and engaging. ... show more

  • Obligated to have a subscription to use the bike
Style: Bowflex VeloCore 16 IC Bike
I purchased this stationary bike for my son to enjoy bike rides even when the weather gets extreme. He and myself enjoy it but forty some odd dollars for a subscription that isn't updated often like other major competitors? I can't even use the applications to watch shows without the subscription. I may change the bike if bowflex doesn't come up with better features for the subscription. ... show more

  • Not all exercise cycles are equal
Style: Bowflex VeloCore 22 IC Bike
I’ve had multiple exercise bikes over the years and after a while they all became became dust collectors. The Bowflex VeloCore is unique and has me anticipating my next ride. I have read other reviews that the lean function is a gimmick. I totally disagree. The lean function provides a great addition to the workout. I think “Lean” is a misnomer. It is a serious pull and hold more than a lean. I find it to be very effective in my workouts. The spinning mechanism is very fluid and the resistance very smooth and linear. My only complaint has been the seat and the heart rate monitor. No body (or butt) is the same and I recommend finding a seat that fits you, especially for long rides. That’s not to say the standard seat will not be right for you. It just didn’t work for me. My heart rate monitor does not always connect via Bluetooth to the console, not a dealbreaker for me since I track my heat rate with a different device. I have been so impressed with the Bowflex product that I am looking at other technology from the company for future purchases (Max Total and Revolution). The JRNY app (free for the first year) offers multiple options for your ride. It offers recommended virtual coach programs based upon your ability and progress, pre-programmed rides based upon time and difficulty, instructor led training, videos of landscapes from around the world that you can ride through as both virtual programs or at your own pace. It will also allow you to stream your favorite video services, HBO Max, Disney +, Hulu, Netflix or Amazon Prime. It also has streaming music from all genres and decades. It records all of your rides in a Journal that allows to to track your progress (time, calories, distance, burn rate, resistance) it also allows you to setup goals and tracks them plus so much more. I held off on writing this review for a while so that I could have enough miles on the machine to make an informed and accurate review, Bottom line is I am very happy with my purchase and only regret is that I didn’t get it sooner. ... show more

  • Seat uncomfortable
Style: Bowflex VeloCore 16 IC Bike
This was easier to put together than I thought it'd be. The problem I have is that I had to buy a new seat. The seat that comes with the bike hurts like awfully bad.

  • Solid Bike, But with Terrible Customer Service
Style: Bowflex VeloCore 16 IC Bike
I really like this bike - and the accompanying JRNY app. The bike itself feels solid and I like how many different workouts it comes with. I also like the leaning feature as it really does give you a good core workout. I'm removing one star due to BOWFLEX's TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. There was an issue with the sensor on my bike, and after promising several appointment windows, I needed up needing to fix it myself (or wait several months). They were very non-communicative about the problem and ignored several emails, and when I called, they'd apologize - but they kept making promises about a technician showing up which never happened. Huge shout out to Tye-Mart (where I ordered it) who helped me get the issue solved so I didn't have to actually return the bike - order from them if you can! ... show more
