  • Beautiful looking and sounding headphones
While I am certainly no audiophile, I have owned a lot (my wife says way too many) pairs of headphones. I think it helps to understand my priorities since headphone use is highly personal and individual. With the pandemic forcing work and school at home, noise cancelling is my number one priority right now in Bluetooth headphones. After that, comfort is the key since I need them all day long. Finally, sound quality and attractiveness are my third and fourth priorities. Cost is less important since its such an important product for me. Noise Cancelling: For on-ear headphones like these, you will never get perfect active and/or passive noise cancelling. Over/around ear designs are simply better at isolating noise and cancelling noise. Having said that, I think these headphones are about as good as an on-ear headphone can get at noise cancelling. 8/10 Comfort: Just like with Noise Cancellation, on ear headphones are never as comfortable as over/around ear headphones. The clamping force is applied to your ear rather than your head surrounding the ear, so they do become less comfortable the longer you wear them. Having said that, the generous, high-quality memory foam on these headphones makes then surprisingly comfortable for an on-ear design. 8/10 Sound Quality: This is such a subjective area for people that I will just say that they sound terrific, and I have no complaints. Best-sounding on-ear headphones I have ever tried. Better than many other expensive brands. 10/10 The Look: The build includes carbon fiber, metal accents, and nice fabric that make it clear that these headphones are luxurious without being tacky like so many other pricey brands. I also love the blue and silver color. Unfortunately, when I put them on, there is a very large and awkward-looking gap between the side of my head and the “arms” of the headphones on either side. It makes them look a little weird and large from straight-on. From the sides, they look great. 6/10 I will mention that the sensor to pause your music was problematic for me from day one with unnecessary pauses. Once I figured it out, I quickly turned it off in the app. I don’t miss the feature. Overall, these are great headphones. If you are looking for a pair of smaller on-ear headphones that are nearly as good as the premium over/around ear options including the Bowers PX7, Bose NC700, and Sony 1000XM3 in a smaller form factor, these are a good choice. ... show more

  • Forget the Beats Solo Pro. It's all about the PX5! *UPDATED*
Color: Space Grey
*UPDATED 11/24/2019* Regrettably, I have some bad news. When using this for calls, I was told I sound monotone (narrow mic frequency range), quite muffled, and was asked to repeat myself numerous times, to the point I just put the headphones down and used my phone. Seriously disappointing for $300 and something advertised as lifestyle-friendly. No word from Bowers & Wilkins on any possible updates to fix this or if it's just a limitation (or defect) of the hardware. -1 Star ORIGINAL REVIEW I own the P7 Wireless, which are a great set of wireless cans. The only issue is they do not have ANC. I previously had the PX, which sounded great, but they did depart a bit from the typical Bowers & Wilkins house sound. Also, the sound was dramatically affected when ANC was turned on, which was a huger bummer. Comfort? Well, the PX were not very comfortable. On to the PX5 and PX7. I demoed both of them at the same time at a local big box store and enjoyed the PX5 more. While the PX7 was overall more immersive, I found the PX5 was ever so slightly more refined. I just enjoyed the PX5 more and felt was just a bit more precise. I also prefer the look of the PX5 over the PX7. If you've ever spent time listening to Bowers & Wilkins headphones, you know they excel with strong, yet defined bass, a smooth & natural mid range, and detailed highs. The PX5 is no different. The sound absolutely fantastic with impeccable layering of instruments that really give you that "live" feeling. For the record, I do not have a large head (I think I have a "normal" sized head), so comfort for me is good. They are secure, but not too tight. To given you an idea, I was able to wear these for the duration of the workday (took them off for lunch, of course) and I did not get fatigued. They were also stable enough to use for weightlifting at the gym. ANC, although not as strong as the Sony 1000XM3, is still very effective. Also, the good news this time around, is the ANC has very little effect on sound, in fact, most people I let listen to the PX5 could not hear a difference in sound quality with ANC on or ANC off. Build quality is just marvelous. Nothing to really elaborate on here! Overall, for $299, these compete directly with the Beats Solo Pro. While the Solo Pro are better than the Solo 3 and decent headphones in their own right, the PX5 are just on another level and a strong recommendation for audiophiles on the go. Honestly, these are the best on-ear headphones on the market. ... show more
