  • Great Unit!!!
Style: Multi-Color Illumination CD Receiver
Well finely got my new BOSS AUDIO MR762BRGB Receiver hooked up and running, installed it in my 17 Foot Javelin Bass Boat I bought this summer that didn’t have a Stereo. I thought why not and searched for a Marine Stereo and found this one that had as I thought a lot of bells and whistles that I didn’t think I needed so much but man was I wrong after getting it installed, this thing is loaded! I hooked up a couple of Two way 6 X 9 Marine speakers I already had from Monoprice.com, installed them In plastic containers the size you would store your dress shoes in and sprayed in some spray foam under them and sounds pretty good I think. I had also bought the black plastic “Jensen Marine Water Resistant Stereo Housing” # MRH211BLACK, to try and keep it from getting to wet while out on the Lake (Pickwick Lake, Tennessee River). It fits just right and like how the front cover rotates back up over the receiver inside so it’s not like the others that’s like a lid that stays out in the way that could be broken, I like that it disappears up over the stereo out of the way, worth the extra few bucks like $6 ? I am total surprised by what I have bought, It’s a CD, SD card, USB reader, Bluetooth for your regular phone and for steaming your music from your phone to the receiver, never had that before, also has an auxiliary Input Jack on the front for your IPods & such, the CD player can play MP3/WMA you record yourself and will read it if you have a ID3 tag on it, the SD & USB will also read out the Titles song, artist, album name scrolling across the LCD screen for you, pretty neat really all this receiver will do. Even has Traffic Announcement for if you’re out on the road will break-in even while playing a song, neat!. And there are other things to boot. And the Face comes off if you want to store it out of the way anytime. You can choose between 7 different colors that light up the face or let it scroll thru them all I like the white the best so far probity be good in the sun as you can choose the best color then I think, even with the face shield down covering the receiver you can still see thru it real good. The sound is really good for this receiver says it 60 watts per channel, but you know how that goes, not to bad listening in the garage after I had it hooked up, but still as loud as I wanted, I’m hard of hearing anyway so I ordered a BOOS AMP that should be here next week (12/15/15) it’s the BOSS AUDIO CE102 Chaos Epic 100-Watt Full Range, Class A/B 4-8 Ohm Stable 2 Channel Amplifier. I’m thinking it will be enough to push the speakers loud enough for me, more than likely. So as of right now, OH did I mention that I got this thru Amazon Warehouse deals for only, get this $76.94, HA! And searched around for the AMP and though it wasn’t much less got it for $18.72, yep got both from warehouse deals, I think I paid around $45.00 bucks or less for the speaker, I think it was $12.67 for the Jensen housing, so I think I got about $165.00 bucks invested and even speaker wire. I have to say I’m impressed so far with BOSS AUDIO so far, I didn’t think I would have gotten so much bang for the buck as I have with going with BOSS AUDIO, I’ve changed my mind about a brand I thought wasn’t that good, I was thinking of just getting a receiver that didn’t have half the things that are on this one like Bluetooth, CD, SD,USB,AUX JACK, oh yeah forgot a WIRELESS REMOTE TO BOOT! And there is a APP for your phone you can download from Google, it’s the whole kit and kabootul here and the sound is great, I had it turned up all the way and with the 6 X 9 speakers I didn’t even here any distortion so I want that AMP and I think I’ll have a kick ASS system in my boat. Anyway you can’t go wrong here especially for the price, yeah I got mine cheaper and would do it again, I think I’ve have a system that a $500.00 buck system can’t bet and have plenty money left to fix up my boat better and a great sound system to boot! I say if you’re looking for looking for something that isn’t expense’s you won’t go wrong with this one, I’m sure some will think ain’t no way it will sound that good, I think you’ll be surprise as much as I was after getting it hooked up and running. For my boat this is more than I needed but like I said for the price? Just do it!!! ... show more

  • Looks great, lots of features, but too many negatives!
Style: CD Receiver
I bought this for our new pontoon that came with a generic radio. The install went ok, the radio looks great in the console...but on 3 separate occasions I had to jump start a dead boat battery! The memory function on this radio eats amps! If you try to use the radio without connecting the yellow memory lead, you as well will end up with a dead battery almost every time you go out!. Now the sad part.... if you don't connect the yellow memory lead to always hot wiring you lose ALL radio settings including fade, balance, eq, bass, treble, station presets etc and you then have to reset everything which is a real pain! Especially since this model radio has one of the poorest displays I've ever seen. You have to shield the display from any kind of sunlight to see what's going on! Also I am a little concerned about the way the front plate drops down to load a cd. Can be a little tricky for sure. As far as sound quality it's ok...plenty of volume driving a set of JBL 6x9's. The Fm reception as others have said is not all that great either especially where we live. One other thing...on 2 occasions the radio turned itself "ON" overnite! We left boating at about 5:30 pm and next morning at about 8:am I went to do a quick wipe down of dew on the boat. Ha...would you believe ..the radio was hissing at me FM 87.1 ....I think that's the one that's lowest on the FM band. After resetting everything fade, eq, etc. we went boating. Next day same thing in AM.. .. radio on and playing only this time on a preset station! For sure something is wrong here. I contacted Boss tech support and they will do a checkover if I send radio back to them. I will contact their tech support guys via phone today and see what the cuurent draw should be in memory only mode without power on. I may upgrade my 2 star review if they can be of some help. On the plus side, the radio looks great at night...pretty blue lights, display at night is easy to see, wonderful, . I suspect though I'll be trying to return radio to Amazon for refund. Of course I can't find all original packaging...we'll see what happens. As of right now..I am not happy. BG Update: Just checked and found about a 2amp draw on radio even when off. Radio won't turn on unless yellow (backup) and red (power B+)are connected together and then connected to fellow hot lead from boat wiring. More bad news....the faceplate on the radio front has come loose and flopping in the breeze. I think a bit of crazy glue would probably re attach it. And finally the manual shows there is reset button that needs to be pushed after you change the battery or if battery becomes dead. Well Hello..I can't find any reset button. Lastly ..Amazon won't allow return due to past 30 day warranty. Guess I'll try for replacement or go for a Sony. Local boat dealers recommend Sony with non volatile memory. Maybe I should change star rating to 1 star? BG Update: 8/11/2015 --after sending in and creating a "ticket" for an ra # , have now been waiting over 10 days to get Ra # to have radio fixed, replaced, updated. (I offered to pay the difference). When you go their website to check status of your "ticket" you get a message that says something like "this website has issues and should not be trusted" ! So now I called their customer support line...(good luck on this...you'll wait forever) and finally have to get bounced back to operator. She says she'll get someone in tech support to call me! We'll see! Meantime our short boating season is fast coming to an end up here in the Wisconsin Northwoods. I really don't like to give negative comments on products or service's but I'm beginning to think these folks don't even deserve one star! I'm gonna try and see if Amazon can do some good here! Nov 2015 Not sure if It was posted somewhere but Amazon went to bat and I got full credit on this crummy radio. I ended up buying (Amazon of course) a Kenwood marine stereo that is fantastic! Also bought a Kenwood subwoofer and amp and am very happy. Don't waste your time on Boss stuff, to me it's pretty much bottom of the line and customer support is non-existent. ... show more

  • Be prepared for a dead battery
Style: Multi-Color Illumination CD Receiver
I read the reviews before about the current draw from this and yes, it is true. If you do not keep a battery maintainer on your boat battery, this radio will drain it. You would think that Boss would use some sort of sleep mode or an internal battery to save all your settings. Also, when you are in the sunlight, you will never see the display. The display may look cool at night, but during the day it is useless. ... show more
