This sturdy little gadget is no toy (I bought the Boska Holland Partyclette Explore Mini Raclette, Black). It works really well and makes nice bubbling hot cheese right next to my breakfast, lunch, dinner plate in minutes, or at my campsite. No need for a cumbersome raclette grill to drag out, set up and find an extension cord to plug into. It comes with a spatula and 3 tealights, and though it does melt cheesel, it melts very slowly, and doesn't bubble the way I like. So I made an easy improvement and added a 4th tealight (short metal cup type) and VOILA!, I had pefect bubbly melted cheese in just a couple of minutes! So, I suggest 4 tealights instead of only 3 for cheese. If you're going to melt chocolate, I think 3 tealights would be perfect though. I love that it's light weight and the base folds up, as does the handle, for compact storage. This will be easy to carry on our many hiking trips this summer, or in the motorhome off-grid. Set-up is beyond easy, and the sturdy base holds the cheese pan securely. Someone commented that the base sides keep falling down. I haven't had this issue. I think it's because maybe they didn't snap them into position with a gentle push outward on each side. They do stay in position then. I also like that the pan itself can be placed directly onto a BBQ grill or hot coals at our campsite to melt the cheese. One of the reasons I wanted one without a wooden handle, it's non combustible and versatile! My favorite recipe so far is melting some aged havarti and goat cheese and then serving it "American-style" on a flour tortilla. I prepare a flour tortilla by cutting into 4 wedges and then toast for a minute in my toaster oven until puffed-up and crispy. The media could not be loaded. Seems silly-just use a pan or bowl, right? But the cheese melts, slides right off, perfectly, onto whatever you’re coating. Only issue is it takes a few minutes to make each portion. Love this thing way more than I should 😂

I started setting it up and in ten minutes, I had hot melted raclette cheese. Granted, I started with a cool set and cheese straight from the fridge, so a second round would likely go faster.I see a little bit of scratching on the finish (sides and frame), very minimal, so be sure to use only the plastic scraper on the cooking surface. It does what it claims, and yes, I might have been able to do this with aluminum foil and a household candle, but the little set is compact and cute on the tabletop. My kids think I should start packing it for their lacrosse tournaments...definitely would be fun at a tailgate. ... show more

Great for a special community meal. It is really handsome and well made, so it was a nice anniversary gift for my parents. When finished the metal supports fold over the candles, keeping them contained and reducing space needed for storage. The candles work just adequately... I wish it got a little bit hotter, but so much nicer (and more kid friendly) than an electric model. I’m going to explore oil tea lights, but they might be too tall. With so many nonstick pans, we can pace ourselves and nobody goes hungry. Besides cheese, you can make individual mini omelettes or a silver dollar pancakes: kids loved this. Use a batter on the thinner side and let the kids add a few blueberries, bananas, chocolate chips, etc. ... show more

Of course it goes on sale Right after I bought It.... Anyways! Still Absolutely worth the 35 bucks I paid for it. Love making homemade crackers and melting some lovely cheese on it without a disgusting microwave. I am Very surprised these things are not way more popular. If you do decide to get one, get this one and not the cheaper version... The cheaper versions metal flakes off very easily. UPDATE Started to chip on me, very upsetting... thinking maybe using a tad bit of pam before you start the melting process might help, still very upsetting. Especially since I used it a lot, like 3-4 times a week I was hoping it would last longer than it did... SECOND UPDATE I bought another one, that shows you how much I loved this thing the first time. I am pleased to report that they have started used a new type of metal that Does Not scratch and chip. So far one month in its very good still. I still use a tiny bit of non stick coconut oil spray just to be safe. Perfect Now! ... show more

This raclette grill is amazing! I ordered it for a dinner party I was planning. I found raclette cheese at our local Giant Eagle grocery store but also purchased Gruyere, sharp white cheddar, Colby and an aged white cheddar flavored with Fat Tire ale. We made homemade bread. Also, based on articles I read, had small potatoes, roasted broccoli, sautéed mushrooms, various crackers, apple slices and a couple meats (salami and prosciutto). It was the hit of the evening! Cheeses melted wonderfully ( Colby not quite as good as the others) and tasted superb over all of the breads and various foods as well as slid right out of the little pans. It cleaned up easily. Sides don’t want to stand up, but that was easily solved with just a bit of bamboo I snipped from the yard to jam in along one of the short sides. It’s about 2 5/8” wide. Anything relatively stiff you can cut to that length will work for the same purpose, like a piece of scrap wood or even just a plastic drinking straw would work. Otherwise it works great.
