This was a Christmas present for the wife. It's another cute kitchen utensil, but unlike a few others we have, this one is actually totally FUNctional. See what I did there? It is only a ladle, so there's not much to it and I didn't expect it to do anything except..ladle stuff. And it does that pretty well. It's scoop is about the same size as the other ladles we have and it performs just as well, it just looks 100 times cuter and cooler doing it. You could have a normal ladle just hanging out against the side of your pot. Like some lazy loitering stick. But what's that do for you? Pour you some soup and that's about it. This thing will sit in the pot, staring back at you, making you question every other purchase for your kitchen you've ever made. Why don't my other utensils penetrate my hard outside armor and find their way into my soul with their subtle yet overpowering cuteness? WHY WON'T YOU LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT SPATULA?????? Anyway, it's made of pretty tough nylon and doesn't mind sitting in a boiling pot. It scoops up a decent amount. The only small issue I have is it doesn't stand very well on it's own and tends to fall over onto its face. Not an issue while it's in a pot of whatever though. And how many of your other ladles would even ATTEMPT to stand up like that? That's right, not a one.

The idea is awesome. But it's not without flaws. As others mention, it's a little flimsy for heavy sauces and chili. But it's perfectly fine for thinner soups. But there's one fatal flaw: she floats. Which makes her flop over the side of the pan or bowl. Which kind of defeats one of the purposes. I guess we'll use our more robust ladles for heavy stuff. No biggie. This is great for thinner soups. But dang it if she ain't the sweetest looking thing sitting on the counter waiting for her next culinary adventure.

Bought this for my girlfriend as a gift since she likes a lot of soup in the winter time. It's cute and she really enjoys it. However it is smaller than I expected overall (never thought to look at the size when I purchased) as I figured it would be about the size of a standard plastic ladle you could purchase at any store. Additionally, if you just want to keep it displayed on the counter as a dino, it's not very well balanced and has a tendency to fall over head first. Does it stand up in a soup pot looking like the Loch Ness monster? Sure! But not if the soup is on the burner (It's plastic and will melt). Mixed bag overall. I'd give it 2 stars for usability and +1 for being a cute gift.

It's just cute, especially when you're using it. When you're NOT using it, more than likely, its butt is sticking up and its head buried in your other kitchen tool holder. Also not very easy to hand wash it, since the whole neck part is concaved in, so you'd have to struggle to scrub out the food particle that gets stuck in it. I just like to have it around, it's cute to look at, and makes me feel like a cute little chef. I used it once.
