You are getting what you've paid for. Can they do better, there's always room for improvements. The earbuds fit very well, and the various noise cancellation options are fantastic. One downside is how you can control your music, volume and noise cancellation options, as they are all with a touch and it takes a bit of practice and still not perfect. For example, you might wish to turn the volume up or down, but instead it might change the noise cancellation option or skip to another song. I found using the Bose app helpful when picking your noise cancellation options, but it's not always optimal to get to your phone especially if you're performing an activity (Cycling, running etc.). Overall, the buds are fantastic purchase and quite comfortable, but not for prolonged usage as you might experience discomfort and that's true with most earbuds I've ever tried. I can't speak to the battery life, give me a month or so and I will tell you how long it really lasts and how often you'll need to charge it, but like most rechargeables, after sometime you will see a decrease in capacity to hold a full charge. Will see if this holds true with these. Again, overall, a great purchase, not much to complain about.

I wrestled with purchasing these Bose earbuds as many of the social media reviewers gave unsatisfactory reviews in my opinion. I have tried all the competitors earbuds; at least the Crown Jewels of that particular company. As these reviews are subjective I will save you the hassle. I have several Bose products and find them very, very good. Although I wouldn’t say that I’m a Bose fanboy. I have several Sony products, I have several Apple products, Technics, JBL, and many other “brands” and find them useful and usually fairly good. As for these ear buds, it may be helpful to consider what you expect to use them for and what your expectations are. At the time of purchase, these were excellent value for money as they were cheaper than the major competitors at this “premium” level. The noise canceling is superior to Apple and Sony IMO. I was 5ft from a barking husky and could barely hear it. 5 star. As for comfort, I have worn these for various times during the day, during walks, around the house and for taking calls. My ears never have hurt or get “sore” after long use (more than 5 hours). I realize that this is subjective, but I have smaller ear holes and the ear tips are soft and associated supports that go around the driver fit my ear very well and provide lasting light comfort. These earbuds are not overly heavy at all. I have an Apple iPhone, and have found connectivity to be very little problem at all. It connects without issue and plays all my apps very seamlessly, Spotify, YouTube, Audible phone calls all the rest no issues whatsoever. I have not tested water resistance in that sense however walking in the rain no issues, with sweat doesn’t seem to be any issue. I’m anal about keeping them clean and I would encourage you to do the same. They seem durable and not flimsy or cheap. Finally, we get to the most important part for me at least and that is the quality of the sound coming through them for music. I am not an audiophile, at least not in the sense that I think about other sounds snobbery, but I do love my music and I know what it should sound like if you like the U curve or the typical rock curve you will love these earbuds. The base is rich, but not distorted, the mids are very good, and the highest trebles are not hissy, but crisp. Equalizer in the app only has three settings, but I still think it’s useful and helpful. However, you’ll have to use other settings if you have an iPhone to get it dialed in to your liking. Fortunately, I was able to do that to get better volume and better control in concert with Apple iPhone settings turning off Spotify equalizer and sticking to the Bose app for controlling the quality of the sound and it did work well. iPhone has a setting in which it limits the volume, adjust that setting and your volume will increase by I would say 20% maybe a little more, I have them dialed in now. And having them dialed in I think the sound is excellent and very enjoyable. I think these are well worth the purchase and have enjoyed them for the time. I’ve owned them with no issues with charging or any other issues. Highly recommended. Give them 5 stars.

Edit: now that I've been using them for a couple of months the honeymoon phase is over. Still mostly great but the touch/tap input is pretty obnoxious. Seriously, just give us buttons to press. Sometimes I try to adjust it in my ear, which is considered a touch, so audio pauses. Or I'll try to double tap but one tap will slightly miss and only one tap will register so audio will pause instead of next song. But the action doesn't happen instantly. It takes about a second for the action to register (like pausing after tapping) so by the time it happens I've already put my hand down and then it pauses, so now I have to re tap and wait a second to make sure the audio begins again. Yeah it's just a second, but it happens all the time. Tap. Wait to make sure it worked. It didn't. Tap again. Wait to make sure it worked. All day long. Like I get that tech companies have a huge touch/tap fetish but seriously, just give us buttons. They're so much easier to use. Yes, the buttons will be tiny, that's fine. At least I will have a consistent experience and know what is going to happen when I press the play/pause button. End edit. This is a great set of earbuds! Very happy with the noise cancellation. It isn't perfect but it's pretty close. It comes with different modes you can cycle through like Aware so you can still hear what's around you, and Quiet with the noise cancellation turned on. There are more modes but I couldn't tell any difference so I just leave the two loaded on the buds so I can easily switch between them. They are also very comfortable. I can wear them for hours without feeling any discomfort in my ears. Make sure you play with the different sizes that come in the box to find a good fit. Battery life is adequate. You really need to make sure they're in the case any time you're not wearing them and keep the case charged. Ideally the battery would last much longer but they are tiny little devices, so I get it. One downside is the mobile app. It's garbage. I have a ton of difficulty pairing. I could only get them to pair one time during the initial setup, then I got logged out and the app lost the buds. They stayed connected to my phone so it's fine, but I just tried to connect them to the app again and it seems like it's just designed to fail. App aside, the buds are fantastic!

I have owned the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus, Jabra Elite 85t, and Bose Headphones 700, and I currently use the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen). Fit and Comfort: The Bose are very comfortable and stay securely in my ear, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus. A poor fit was the main reason I moved on from the Samsung—they simply wouldn't stay in. Sound Quality: The sound on the Bose is excellent. It is significantly better than my old Jabra earbuds and even surpasses my Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus, which I already thought were quite good. Noise Cancellation: The noise canceling is hands-down the best I’ve experienced. It easily beats the Jabra 85t, which had mediocre noise canceling at best, and it's superior to the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus. For example, I was recently at a noisy Chicago O'Hare terminal on a call; the person I was talking to had no idea I was in a loud airport because they couldn't hear any background noise. Additionally, as a frequent flyer, I find they do a great job filtering out jet engine noise, even on a 10-hour international flight. Connectivity Issues: The 'Connect-to-Talk' speed is terrible. While the Samsung and Jabra buds connected almost instantly when removed from the case, the Bose are very slow. Often, a call will go to voicemail before the Bose connect, or I have to wait several seconds for the sound to kick in after answering. This is incredibly frustrating. Controls and App: The touch controls are poor; I still can't figure out the timing or pressure required, and I constantly trigger them accidentally just by adjusting the fit. The software app also feels like an afterthought. It frequently fails to recognize the earbuds even when they are actively connected via Bluetooth to my S25+ or tablet. I often have to reinstall the earbuds in the app just to get it to see them. I don’t have these issues with my Bose 700 headphones or my previous Jabra and Samsung apps. Verdict: While the sound and ANC are world-class, the slow connectivity, poor app, and finicky touch controls are bad enough that I am looking for other solutions. I’m hoping the Samsung Buds 4 Pro can match this noise reduction while providing a more reliable app and faster connection speeds.

Be aware if you plan to use these with a Samsung Galaxy S23 cell phone. I received the first pair from Amazon, and they worked out of the box. After upgrading the firmware to v8.3.1.2 through the BOSE ap (the out-of-the-box version was 4.x.somthing), the earbuds would no longer stay connected to my Samsung S23. I contacted Bose customer service and followed several troubleshooting steps, including resetting all Bluetooth settings on my phone, but the earbuds still would not maintain a connection. They advised me to return the pair. I ordered a replacement set from Amazon, which came with firmware version 8.3.1.2. Like the first set, these earbuds would only stay connected for about 10 seconds. (Earbuds would stay connected with my partner's Apple device.) I called Bose customer service and explained the situation, including the V8.3.1.2 issue. The BOSE representative was unfamiliar with the problem, even though it is documented online on YouTube videos, and said a return could be initiated but would take several weeks. I planned to return this set to Amazon and try a different brand but after further internet research, I discovered there is a new firmware update, version 8.4.8, which claimed to fix the connectivity issue with the Samsung S23. I was able to keep the earbuds connected long enough to upgrade to V8.4.8, and now they stay connected without any issues. Bottom line, if your earbuds will not stay connected to your Samsung device. Try updating to the latest firmware v8.4.8 which can be accomplished through the BOSE ap. Other than the connectivity issue that now seems resolved, the earbuds perform nicely. Audio is great and the noise cancelling feature is wonderful while I use these in my noisy woodworking shop. My 5 star review is for the audio performace of the earbuds and not the Samsung connectivity issue and BOSE support that I would give a 1 star review.

Best ear buds I have ever owned!!! I am an audiophile and am VERY PICKY when it comes to my audio! I listen to audio ALL DAY LONG! I love BASS!! I was worried when I got these that 1. I wouldn’t get enough Bass and that 2. I wouldn’t be able to get enough volume out of these ear buds seeing that my previous ear buds wouldn’t go high enough even when they were at Max volume! So I gave these a try. I am extremely happy to report that 1. These have wonderful bass!! Which you are able to adjust using the Bose app which is pretty easy to use. Just install after you link the ear buds to your phone or computer/laptop/tablet then install the app and adjust the bass in the EQ! EZ PZ! 2.these have more than enough volume! I am able to go to about 75% volume and leave it there depending on the app I am using and hear just fine and that is using only one earbud. I use one earbud at a time so that I am able to extend the length of time that I am able to use the earbuds throughout the day as I stay up ALL day and night but when I do use both they stay at about the same volume as well. The battery life is GREAT!!! They last well throughout the day and night and I get about 3 charges from the case before I need to recharge the case. That is a charge of the right earbud the Left earbud and another full charge of the right ear bud and a partial charge of the Left ear bud before I have to recharge the case. You are able to charge the case by USB-C cable or by wireless charger. When I first started wearing these earbuds they gave me some discomfort but I was able to adapt to that and now I am fine with them and have no discomfort and they feel GREAT!! They fit great in my ears and don’t move at ALL! They are snug and at times I forget that I have them in at all lol! The case is nice and light. It’s tiny enough that it fits in my pocket and I know where it is at all times lol it has a light on the front so that when I am charging the earbuds the light radiates and when the charging case is done charging the light goes out. These are things the seller does not tell you!! When you are using the earbuds you will know the earbuds are about to go out of battery because a nice lady will come into your ear and tell you that the battery is low two times and then u will get about 20-30 more minutes of power before they die so either change the earbud if u are using only one or charge them if u are using both! They fit VERY snug in the case sometimes so snug you can’t get them out lol so no worries about them falling out of the case!! When u put them in your ear at first you will be greeted with the amount of battery life you have in the earbud. Overall I am so happy with these earbuds and I don’t want to get a new pair EVER LOL! I keep these with me 24/7 and the case is in my pocket at all times. I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone that is interested in a pair of BOSE earbuds! These are the best earbuds I have ever had and I will be buying a new pair if I ever need to again!!

I originally bought the pixel buds pro 2 as my latest earbuds, but I found them unable to fit in my ears and form a correct seal no matter the eartip size. This led to poor ANC and sound quality issues. I love having swipe controls for volume as I use them often, and having control parity between buds was important to me. Some buds only let you skip or go back to the previous song on one bud each. These were the only other buds on the market that seemed to fill those requirements. They also sound great, though I would deduct 1/2 a star for not supporting LDAC since its present on all Android devices. Pros: -swipe controls (this is subjective) -sound quality (it sounds just so much wider and bigger than other buds I've used) -android compatibility (when I open the case, it shows the battery level of the case and each bud in my notifications) -Mic sounds pretty good even in wind so far -ANC performance is stellar. I can barely hear plates clanging together at my gym now. They also don't plug my ears up badly like some other ANC implementations can do. -No foam eartips (subjective, but I find them unbearable. The included tips also have a wax barrier) -No issues with the battery life so far, looking forward to testing more on my next intl. flight. Cons: -Some initial comfort issues with the wingtips, but this subsides after a few days of wear -While the case is wireless charging compatible, I find it super hard to get it to trigger on most pads -The buds orientation in the case is a bit odd and makes it hard to get the buds out unless you pluck them a certain way. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning considering the price. -The app isn't the most intuitive Overall, no regrets on this purchase, especially when they're on sale.

There is so much to like and so much to dislike about these earbuds, they are bound to be controversial. By way of background, I should say that I've owned and used the following earbuds: Jabra Elite 75t, Jabra 7 pro, Elevoc Clear, Sony WF1000XM5, Pixel Buds Pro 2, as well as two sets of wired passive noise-canceling earbuds with custom molded tips (from Etymotic and Ultimate ears). I use my earbuds with Google Pixel phones, a linux laptop, and a 1Mii Bluetooth transmitter, so multi-point is a big benefit to me. My ears may be unusually shaped, as I sometimes have trouble getting a good seal. In particular, Sony sent me silicone ear tips for use with the WF1000XM5s, because the foam ear tips that those shipped with did not form a good seal in my ears according to the app. For both the Jabras and the Sonys, my biggest complaint is that the microphones stopped working so I could use them only to listen, not to make phone calls. For listening at home, I favor the sound of open-backed headphones from Focal and AKG, so I don't consider any ear buds to have great sound quality, but use them when out in public or on buses, trains, and airplanes. Now for the good: The Bose QC Ultra 2 earbuds have by far the best noise cancellation of any I have tried--wired or wireless--and fit my ears really well. There are *two* levels of seal: a traditional silicone ear tip on the inside, and then "stability bands" that seal further back in your ear. That, combined with presumably top-of-the-line active noise cancellation, makes for a qualitatively different experience. If I'm on an airplane with these, I can obviously hear that I'm not in a quiet room, but if someone talks to me and I'm not looking a them, I might not notice it because the voice just fades into the background even though I can ear it slightly. The sound quality of the QC Ultra 2 buds is good for earbuds, though I don't love earbuds. Besides "quiet" and "aware" modes, there's an immersive audio feature. With previous earphones (like the over-ear Bose QC Ultras) I never understood the point--it just made things sound weird and metallic. With these earbuds, I finally get it. There's a "Cinema" mode (not enabled by default), which still sounds kind of metallic, but also makes it seem like things are happening in the room around me. So I've used this to watch a couple of movies on an airplane. I don't know if I prefer it, but I can at least see the appeal. Some people may like it. In phone calls, friends report that the mic audio quality is good, though my problem is usually that mic quality degrades over time as dust and earwax gets into the earbuds, so it's too early to tell if these will be better in the long run. Before I get into the negatives (including about the Android app), let me also say that the way multipoint works is that you pair other devices from the Bose app, which I found a lot more convenient than having to pair from the case. You can also control which device is active explicitly, which I like, though if you give control to your laptop, the app on your phone will get cut off and not be able to take it back, so it's not perfect. Finally, I like that you can fully operate the earbuds from either ear. This is great if you ever want to listen in one ear while resting your other ear on a pillow. With other earbuds I've had, the right bud can only increase volume while the left bud can only decrease it, and sometimes only one of the buds can control the quiet/aware mode. Now for some negatives. The case is absolutely enormous. Of course I read the specs of 2.60"x2.35"x1.06" before buying and knew abstractly that the case would be large. But actually holding them physically is shocking. I usually put my pixel pro xl phone, earbuds, and keys into the same jeans pocket, and that's unconfomfortable with these buds, particularly compared to the Sony WF1000XM5s I was used to. So these will spend a lot more time in my bag (which might be long-term good for the microphones, but isn't a desirable feature). Another negative is that the earbuds heat up quite a bit when charging. So if you were listening long enough to draw down the battery, then put them in the case to talk to someone, then put the earbuds back in, they will be noticeably warm. That's unpleasant if it's already hot out (though I suppose could be pleasant in a cold environment). The ergonomics are also terrible. Getting the buds out of the case can be annoying if your fingers are slippery. Everything curves inward, making it hard to grab, except the back of the earbuds, but there's not enough of the back exposed to make it easy to grab. It can be tempting to tug on the stabilizer bands, but I suspect this would stretch them out and be bad for fit and noise cancellation in the long run. You can also kind of press the buds inward so they flip out of the case, but that feels like there's some possibility of dropping them, so not something I'd want to do out in public. More importantly, I find the in-ear controls extremely difficult to operate reliably. It's one tap to start/stop playing, a long tap to switch between Quiet/Aware/Cinema modes (or however you configure it), and a swipe up/down to increase/decrease volume. Multiple times I've accidentally activated one of the controls while adjusting the earbuds in my ear. Also, about 1 in 4 times that I'm trying to adjust the volume, the buds end up changing mode because I didn't move my finger fast enough or something. I suspect with practice I'll get better at it, but it's definitely more annoying than any of the other buds I've had. Now the app has some truly terrible features. First, given the difficulty of the controls, you might think why not just disable the touch controls (which the app will let you do) and control the earbuds entirely from your phone? Unfortunately, THE APP REFUSES TO ALLOW ACCESS TO YOUR EARBUDS WITHOUT INTERNET CONNECTIVITY, which I find offensive. So basically if you are in aware mode while boarding a plane, and then put your phone in airplane mode and want to switch to quiet mode, you can only do it through touch controls, meaning you have to have previously enabled touch controls (because the app won't let you enable them while in airplane phone). Even when you are on line, the app shows a persistent notification, but tapping the notification won't take you to the app, so to change the mode, you have to dig through your apps to open the app and navigate to the earbuds and mode. Why clutter my phone with a stupid "keeping things in sync" notification if I can't get any useful functionality from it? Maybe just for legal reasons to notify me that the app is hurting my privacy by communicating with Bose's servers, which shouldn't need to be the case? Finally, an even more offensive part of the app is that it permanently adds the earbuds to your list of Google "find my" devices, with no way ever to remove them. In the find hub app, most devices have a little gearwheel icon you can tap that then gives you a "Remove from Find Hub" option, but Bose devices are lacking this feature. About a year ago I had a pair of QC ultra over-ear headphones with a stuck button that caused repeated factory resets after which I had to pair the headphones again, and it stuck dead Bose devices in Find Hub that I can never remove. What's worse, the oldest devices are shown first, so I have to scroll over dead devices to get to the live ones. I spent over an hour chatting with pixel support about this, and the best they could do was tell me the bad devices would disappear in about a week, but it's been about a year. I can tell that the QC Ultra 2 earbuds have the same misfeature--there's no gearwheel in the "Find Hub" app, which means I can never factory reset them without further polluting my menu. In summary, these earbuds have some uniquely good and bad qualities and are bound to be divisive. I'm still pretty happy with my purchase. In particular, I find plane rides considerably less tiring when I can block out the noise, and being able to do so with a pair of earbuds that (barely) fits in my pocket is a lot more convenient than carrying around over-ear headphones that take up significant space in my backpack. So I guess I'd strongly recommend the earbuds for anyone not bothered by the negatives. Since some of my negatives revolve around the android app, it could also be that the iOS app is significantly better, making the buds even more appealing to iPhone users.
