  • Excellent power-steering conversion assembly .
Excellent product ! It brings the 1966 Mustang power-steering into the feel and drive-ability realm of automobiles produced within the past 15 years . The original power-steering was really manual steering with a power-assist , hydraulic ram and slave-cylinder , that attached to the steering linkage , and caused an over-sensitive feeling to the steering , on a steering gear box that had a 16:1 or 18:1 turn ratio , meaning that you would have to turn the wheel multiple revolutions to achieve a full turn-radius . The Borgeson Power steering conversion kit uses a true power-steering , internal hydraulic power assisted steering gear box ( not rack and pinion ) that is very smooth , not overly sensitive , and has a quicker ratio of 14:1 , providing fewer turns of steering wheel to achieve full-radius turning , and a smoother , less sensitive feel , making the car drive like a completely different vehicle . You will need to be a good mechanic in order to remove the old unit and PROPERLY install this unit , but it is well worth the cost and labor time . ... show more

  • Great upgrade
I was happy with all the parts, they fit great except the steering box. I had to do some grinding on the box and enlarge the mounting holes to allow the box to fit my frame rail. I did this installation on jack stands and would have been fairly easy if I had a second person to help. I know 66 mustangs are not that precisely built vehicles so I wasnt surprised I had to do the modifications. Overall this upgrade works way better that the old sloppy stock steering system. ... show more

  • Installation hint
Simple conversion. Installation instructions were lacking how to shorten column tube. No explanation that the new Column bushing needs to butt against new rag joint or entire column will float in an out Measure twice and leave long until certain it is correct length.
