  • Perfect fit and eliminated slop.
I have a 2003 Jeep Rubicon. When I purchased the jeep a few years ago, the steering wheel had about 1-1.5" of dead space at the top. (Slop). I replaced the entire front steering and suspension and nothing changed. I finally gave in and started to tinker with the actual steering shafts and found that the lower steering shaft had a u-Joint that was entirely worn out and further was missing a cap. Extremely lucky it didn't give way while driving. That all said, the replacement was very easy... Well, for most people it would be easy, but I have extraordinarily bad luck, and so I took a shower in power steering fluid after making a dumb mistake. The old part came out with two bolts. The new one slipped into the intermediate shaft quickly, and the only struggle was getting the splines of the steering gear box to go into the new shaft. After some coercion, it went on great and snug. It quite literally tightened up the steering completely. No play. Perfect fix. Part is well built, and in my opinion worth the price. With that, slight disclaimer that the shaft does not come with a new carrier bearing like some of the other aftermarket offerings do. Good luck! ... show more

  • I give this 5 star cause they have a good tech who ansers problems.
I put this lower steering shaft in my wife's 2006 jeep wrangler sport which was just rebuilt completely an alinged with the steering wheel on right. When I installed this shaft it made the steering wheel off like maybe one spline was not timed right.I contacted Borgeson and asked about it.They kept saying it was my upper shaft an steering column was not timed right. The problem is I bought a brand new mopar upper shaft and there is only one way to install them there square hex with a bolt cut away to lock it in place. Anyway I wrote Amazon with the problem an the a tech wrote me back an said just adjust the tie rod on the right side until steering wheel in right. This was a very simple fix it only took 1 turn to fix it. Thanks AMAZON Tech you did GOOD ... show more

  • Very good quality product
Amazing quality and rugged product. replaced my factory shaft on my Wrangler TJ 2004 with this as the factory shaft had a lot of play and this was the perfect solution. Will order my upper shaft as well from Borgeson shortly. The only issue was that the retainer was not along with the kit and have to reuse the factory retainer which was not in good shape, they could have provided that too for this price. ... show more
