Very nice shelves, and we got them on sale for a very reasonable price. Filled them entirely with books and they are holding up. The only downside is that thin books fall off the ends by tilting and sliding under the bar very easily - we compensated by putting larger/thicker volumes on the ends, but bookends would also work.

I got the two-pack of these shelves, one with black shelves and one with the rustic brown shelves. I took the black one for me and my partner will build the other one for his office. Even with me putting one rail on backwards the first time, it took me thirty minutes to put it together by myself. The instructions are very clear, and they want to be sure you only tighten down the screws 50% until the very end, when it’s all put together including the cross-bar piece. I put this together on top of my bed, and the whole thing was kind of shifty/floaty until the very end. Don’t be tempted to tighten it more than that until all the pieces are in place. Then, for the 100% tighten, stand it up on the floor and follow the same sequence for tightening the shelves and rails that you did when you assembled the pieces. The leveling feet can be adjusted after you move it where you want it to live. Speaking of pieces, wow, this could not have been more idiot-proof. Doing an inventory involves counting five identical shelves, two identical bottom rails, two identical top rails, one cross piece, and a segmented bag with all the hardware you need. Because I placed my shelf between the head of my bed and the wall, I didn’t use the wall-mounting screws, but they are there if you need them. Other than that, there are two types of screws and the same included hex wrench works for all of them. Know that when they talk about lining up the holes, they are talking about the holes that the four ends of the cross-piece screw into. I thought at first those holes were for mounting it to the wall but that’s not what they’re for. Anyway, I really loved how easy this was to put together and how nice it looks beside my daybed-style bed. The only thing that was almost a problem is that the shelves are not adjustable (not without machining new holes) and one of the shelves covered up the bottom receptacle of my wall socket. But I had a plug-in extender that will work for my needs; I just had to move the shelf over a little so the extender would clear the cross-piece. Of course, sitting beside my bed, the bottom shelf is under the bed (which is okay, because I’ll store little-used items down there) and the second from the bottom shelf is lower than the surface of the bed. But that’s great for me, because I’m setting that shelf up to have a solar power station that’s hooked up to a panel outside my window, and I’ll be able to keep that shelf as a charging shelf for my iPad, phone, and other devices I use in my bedroom. All neat and tidy and out of sight! The middle shelf is even with the top rail of my daybed frame, with plenty of room for beverages or snacks, plus two more shelves above that for whatever I want to use them for! There is even room in the corner for a small footprint floor lamp. I’m very, very happy with this shelf. And it’s a great value, too! Recommended!

I put these together myself but two people is ideal. The structure is very wobbly during the assembly process due to the "50 percent" rule of not tightening any of the screws until the very end. That's where a second person comes in. I assembled the bottom part of these on a table and the top assembly with it on the floor leaning against the wall. Assembly instructions are easy to follow, but pay attention to the larger side holes for the "X" back support. I missed it on the first assembly and had to unscrew the one side panel because I had the holes facing the wrong way. Thankfully, I didn't repeat the mistake on the second one. The hardware included everything needed for assembly and even had one or two screws left over. The wood pieces are high quality and are predrilled, making assembly with the supplied screws effortless. They look beautiful and are sturdy once fully tightened. Overall, these bookcases have very impressive quality. I use them as displays in the store and for larger beds, I'm planning to put them back-to-back. For the price ($93.97 for both at the time of this review) and the quality, this is a great deal! Highly recommend.
