I read this book from cover to cover and found it to be easy to understand and a great guide to caring for and pruning your Bonsai. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to take a try at growing a Bonsai Tree. Here is a picture of my tree.

I was a bit disappointed. I thought this would be more of a how to book; with pictures or illustrations. Sometimes I need a image to know that I am doing correctly. A reference point. This book does not have that. He does tell you what to do...but you'd have guess at whether what you did was actually correct. The title I feel is a bit misleading. ... show more

I am fairly new to the world of bonsai and I found this book to be extremely effective in teaching me many things about this art form that I did not know. I think both beginning and intermediate bonsai artists will find this book very helpful.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I’m looking for some of the basic “rules” of trimming-such as how to form pads, or rules of leaves opposite, or what isn’t correct in pruning-branches crossing over, or mistakes experts see. I understand it’s a personal thing, but I know there are so called rules of doing bonsai. Maybe a glossary? Otherwise, I really learned from this book. Thank you. ... show more
