I don't know why there are so many negative reviews about the size of this item and others like it. Clearly those people have never seen any of these types of items on the spindles near the check-out counter at Barnes & Noble and other booksellers. They have been around for ages and are the perfect little starter for all sorts of things. Okay I'm very excited about my bonsai, but I have a question, it says to put the young sprout outside for a month...it was 20 degrees this morning and it will only get colder. Do I still put it outside or could I use inside lighting?

    • use the book to get it to sprout then use your own judgement for the rest.

1 seed sprouted but started withering after a few days. I did everything right. well according to the book anyway. also it does not come with "everything" needed to grow the plant. assuming yours actually grows beyond just a sprout, you will need a pot to transfer it to. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by what I got. The best part of the kit is the jack pine seeds, and the instructional booklet. The booklet goes into far greater detail about the science and art of bonsai than I'd expected, and seems to give good advice on the care and shaping of a tree. I planted my pine seeds a couple of weeks ago, and the first one sprouted today, so there's at least one viable seed out of the five provided. ... show more
