  • Interesting Concept
Color: Gray
I've never used bone conducting headphones before. I liked the idea of being able to hear my surroundings while biking, skiing or paddle boarding. If you're used to in ear headphones and the sound they bring immediately you'll be disappointed at first. However, go ahead and push those ear plugs they supply into your ears and you'll hear that rich sound you're used to. The bad part of that is to get that rich sound you have to actually plug your ears with ear plugs which is why most bought these headphones to begin with, to be ABLE to hear their surroundings. The good news is the sound isn't bad without the plugs in your ears, just not as "loud". So they actually accomplish what I've wanted which is music / sound without drowning out the sounds in my surroundings. When you're at the gym and don't care about those surrounding sounds just pop those ear plugs in and turn the volume down a little (yeah, it's even loud inside your head). Get to working out with that rich sound of in ear head phones. So, in short, I bought these to go skiing and not have to pop my in ear stereo plugs in and out to hear my surroundings or only wear one ear plug to enjoy my music while still having a conversation or hearing things around me for safety. Aesthetically they're very comfortable but when I put them on you hardly know they're there. When I put my ski helmet on they seem to press into my jaw a little - need to work on that part for comfort for all day skiing. They work perfectly with my bike helmet and sit properly. Wish I could reel in the wire a little behind my head as it does catch on the hoodie if I'm wearing a hoodie or hood and presses a little which can be annoying if not properly seated. All in all, sound quality is good. Haven't used the microphone portion yet but will update once I've used it for a phone call or two. Good quality option if you're not into spending $80-$150 on bone conducting headphones when you've never used them before. This is a good introduction into this style of headphones. Likely will never spend more than $30-$50 on this type of headphones when there are quality options like this. ... show more

  • Okay For The Price
Color: Gray
First, one must understand bone conduction. The phones vibrate through the cheek bones into the ear canal. We used a form of this technology in the military in order to listen to multiple frequencies at the same time. They fit forward of the ears, not in or on. The fidelity isn't going to be great in the high/midrange but the bass is good. Pairing is easy. However, like with all of my other bluetooth buds and pods, I don't use the buttons to make/answer phone calls or turn the volume up/down. My fingers are not dexterous so I go directly to my phone and adjust everything through it. Very lightweight and comfortable. There is no way to adjust the fit. I have a large face and head and they fit fine without any pain and they don't fall or slip off when I'm hiking. People with smaller heads may have an issue as well as serious runners, etc. For the price, they are fine for me. Long battery life, at least 8 hours for me. ... show more

  • Awesome headphones!
Color: Gray
I just received my new headphone. They are awesome! The sound quality is great and I really like that I can hear other things while listening to music or a book. They are so comfortable. They charged fast and lasted a long time. I like the controls, they are easy to use. The instructions are easy to read and understand. They connected to my phone right away. I would definitely recommend these headphones if you want bone conducting ones! I have purchased other headphones from this company and their customer service is great and quick to reply to help solve any problem you may have. I can not say enough good things about these headphones and company. ... show more

  • Cheap daily driver headset I can't go a day without (Updated as of 6-07-2021)
Color: Gray
Pretty solid headset that lasts an 8 hour day on nearly max volume. There's some room to improve on these, sure, but for $30 these are an absolute bargain so let me explain. These headsets are and aren't bone conductive. They do sit against the bone by your temple in front of your ear and you can feel and hear the deeper notes against the bone, but the majority of sound is really just being picked up by your ears. This isn't a gripe, even expensive bone conducting headsets often have a port out of the side pointed right towards your ear and the midrange and low end notes are transmitted somewhat through bone. This headset is pretty much relying on the proximity of the unit to your ears, and it does it pretty darn well when you get them in proper position. Sound quality is a big factor for potential buyers, certainly. I must say the sound quality is pretty good. You'll be somewhat lacking in the low end, but the headset is able to reproduce media evenly where you can hear nuance like a background riff in music or open mic noises in more voice based media. It's not like wearing a set of studio cans but the headset does a good job. Comparing them to Aftershokz is a tall order, but I can say these are maybe a step down from an $80 pair of Aftershokz and come with a 2 year warranty (these are really a rebranded Tayogo S2 and if you purchased the extra coverage from Amazon that's what you should register these as). On the note of warranty, I did have to use that option. My first set I received died a few weeks later due to a bad tactile switch and I couldn't power the unit on or off. I reached out to SwimAudio about the issue and they immediately stood by their warranty and sent me another headset and said I can keep the original no questions asked. That left a good impression that even though this headset is cheap, they're more than ready to ensure their product meets your expectations. I can solder a new switch if needed and have the original headset as a backup. I can't speak on how well these perform while exercising. I've been wearing these while on commercial construction sites and they've been great. I can tune out to music or podcasts and still hear what's going on around me. If you're getting these for high intensity exercises I can't give you any input. I think you may have some issues if you're a jogger because the fit is a little loose. Any other activities should be suitable. These also act as a call headset if needed, and from what I've gathered the call quality from the microphone is pretty good in a quiet environment. There is no noise cancelling or active filtering, so any noises will be picked up by the mic and muddy the call quality on the receiver's end. I do like these, it's become second nature wear these every day and I barely notice they're there. If you're ready to drop $30 on a set go for it. Worst case scenario you're out $30 but best case scenario you're gonna feel naked without them on every day. Update 06-07-2021: This replacement set I've been using for the past ~7 months was showing signs of failure over the last 2 weeks and seems to have finally failed. With the first set, the tactile switch lost the clicking detent when pressed or depressed after less than 3 weeks. My current set sometimes clicks when pressed and sometimes does not, but will almost always click when depressed. I suspect that these headsets are still prone to moisture ingress (The rubber cover for the charging port is useless by the way. The thin rubber line that attaches the cover flap to the headset does not retract back into the headset so this means when you push the cover on, there's a large gap where the slack cover plug line and headset meet and will not seal. It's only partially protecting the charging port), and because I usually use my phone's volume buttons to adjust volume the set's power button is the most used button on the headset and has been gummed up over time and failed like the last set. Or it could be the detent switch used is incredibly fragile and after so many actuations it starts to fail. I can't say this headset is not worth the investment, they have decent sound and battery life with acceptable call quality and range. They've held up to my daily usage at work and at home or around town. The sound quality for vocal applications is great, and musical applications are decent enough for some kind of background noise. Battery life is pretty darn solid. Fit is acceptable for most, and anyone wearing sunglasses or glasses in general will have a minor impact on fitment. But because this headset is likely a reject-rebrand of the Tayogo S2s (why name these SwimAudios when these aren't designed to be in water?) or a generic knock-off of an unnamed general design, there is no guarantee whether the headset you get will last you a couple years or a couple of weeks. For the $30 I spent, I feel like I didn't necessarily lose out. And as I mentioned above, customer service was prompt and sent me a new pair when my first set died. This current set is now dying after ~7 months all due to a bad switch and/or poor moisture ingress design. I've since upgraded to Aftershokz for the more reliable design and warranty. If you're willing to drop $30 for some casual bone conduction headphones these aren't a bad option. From my experience, I wouldn't recommend them for sweaty activities. Also be aware that the power button may last, or it may prematurely fail. Customer service is responsive, the warranty coverage seems to be a priority for the company, but you're still getting a product from a grab bag of potential rejected products. YMMV. Overall I'm neither pleased nor am I displeased with the headset. But if you purchase, keep an indifferent attitude and bar of what you're expecting. ... show more
