  • Refresher vs. polish.
Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
When I first started learning about how to care for hardwood, I really did my homework. My husband and I have an older home with hardwood floors that were in need of a new finish. I thought I would try a product that would tide us over until he could do the thorough job of a new polyurethane finish. I called the company to find out all the answers about these products because I read so many conflicting reviews about the refresher and the polish. Many people didn't really understand the difference between them or how to use them. This is what I found out: (1)The refresher is the product that was right for us. We have wood floors that had a polyurethane finish on them, and they hadn't been refinished for about 6 years. They were looking so dull, and I felt they were becoming damaged from the water and dirt being tracked in, but with the holidays upon us, I didn't want us to take on the more time consuming project of refinishing with polyurethane. I wanted something that could be done quickly and easily and would look nice and keep the floors from getting more damaged. The refresher is the product made specifically for floors that already have a polyurethane finish on them. The refresher is a polyurethane product itself and so it combines chemically with your finish and will NOT have to be stripped off when you go to refinish your floors. When you use the refresher, it will add a beautiful luster and it will only take minutes to apply and minutes to dry. (2) Not so with the polish. It is NOT meant for floors that you intend to eventually refinish with polyurethane. It is just as easy to use, it looks just as nice, and it will cover over your polyurethaned floors just fine, but once you use it, you CANNOT use the refresher over it (a polyurethane product) and you CANNOT refinish your floors with polyurethane after using the polish, without first stripping off the polish. Before I understood the difference I went ahead an used the polish on one section of my floors, my hallway. After that, I found out that I should have used the refresher since we intend to refinish our floors with polyurethane. But from this point on, I will have to always use the polish on my hallway and the refresher everywhere else, unless I want to go through the trouble of stripping off the polish and using the other product only. Since the polish did a great job putting a shine on the floors, I will just continue to use it on that one spot. (3) I specifically asked the company which is the more durable product, and they stated unequivocally that the refresher is the longer-lasting, more durable finish. (4) I asked if you have to use a damp pad to apply, or a dry one. The company said that they used to say use a damp one. Now they recommend using a dry one. The reason is because they figured some people would use a pad that is too wet and would affect the product results. My opinion is that you should definitely use a damp one, but ring it out so it is barely damp. Otherwise you will waste too much of the expensive product in the pad as it would soak so much more of it up. Anyway, the company recommends rinsing out your pad as you go if you are doing a large area. I found you don't need to rinse anything if your floors were very clean to start. It is very simple to use. Just squirt it on just as it says, generously, and then glide it all over the floor. You can do a dining room in 5 minutes. And it will be dry to walk on in socks in 20 minutes. Atleast that was my experience. I didn't have to block the kids from using any rooms really because it dried so fast. I also love their floor cleaners and their tile polish. The more coats you use (whether it be the tile polish or any others) the shinier your floors will turn out. They all worked so well. And they go a long way. And they don't strip off the polish that you apply to the floors. ... show more

  • It did just what I needed it to do
Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have wanted to have my wood floors refinished for years, but I haven't had the resourced to do so. I was willing to accept even a little nicer than the worn out floors I had. I had been spot cleaning spills and occasional dog accidents, and then doing some general mopping. Clean was OK, but not really satisfying. The shine I wanted, however, was out of reach. Somehow, I ended up on the Bona page on Amazon. I previously had ordered a Bona product that didn't do hardly any better than what I was using. I went back to Amazon, and found the Bona Pro Series Hardwood Floor Refresher, and bought that. Not really expecting anything better, I applied it with a soft cloth on my hands and knees to a small strip of wood in my dining room (a place where I could remove it if I hated it). I was very surprised and pleased with the result. I looked at it from different angles in different lighting. The floor had a deep lustrous glow that I liked a great deal. Not shiny glossy (but then I didn't want that). Lustrous and pleasing. I applied it on my hands and knees, because I always do my kitchen floor on my hands and knees - something earthy and tactile, very satisfying about it. I could see up close what I was doing and covering, and I felt I had far more control of the product being applied to the wood. I had received one of these terrible applicators with the other Bona product (TOTAL waste of money - no control whatsoever with a pole that wobbled all over the place and pads I didn't think did any good), and I ended up on my hands and knees anyway. This product was easy to apply, easy to control during application, no unpleasant smell, good coverage, quick drying (faster than the bottle says), and made places in the floor worn by heavy traffic and dog shoe damage regain pleasing appearance. It's not as good as having the floors sanded, stained, and resealed, but for the price, I'm happy. 32 OZ. covered a lot of floor, even though I was generous. I was on a tight schedule, and although I could only do sections of a few square feet at a time, I got the job done in plenty of time. And each time I stopped, I sat back and appreciated the results. Can't beat that. I like this product a lot, and I'm going to order more. Good product, good value. I recommend it. ... show more

  • MIRACLE WORKER!!! LUSTER IS BACK AFTER ORANGE GLO AND PLEDGE NIGHTMARE!
Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I normally don't write reviews, but his one deserved it!! My new hardwood floors were looking pretty dull due to our cleaning lady putting Orange Glo and Pledge oven them, despite the fact that I had told her that we can only use Bona Cleaner, as advised by the installer. Set in her ways, she brought these products and used them on my floor until I caught her one day! It took days and multiple tries to get the film / residue off the floor. My best solution (after trying Windex, water, vinegar, ammonia, other cleaners, you name it, I did it!) was a Bissel Steam Mop (Fresh and Clean model). I went over the floors twice with the steam mop. I will not continue to clean with the steam mop, but it was a BEST SOLUTION to remove the residue and gunk off the floor. I had to change microfiber pads and terry towels that I was using with the Bona mop head MULTIPLE times. Even though I had spent two weeks cleaning the floors already with multiple products, you would not believe the grey gunk, film, residue - whatever it's called, that was picked up on the pads. After several steam moppings, the floors passed a white sock test (skating over floors and not dirtying socks). Hurrray! So STEAM MOP, awesome solution - but recommend to do it just this time as an emergency fix and not a long term cleaning habit. The heat did not damage my floors, but over time it could remove the urethane and damage the wood or seams. It was 80.00 and totally worth my wasted time and effort. NOW, I needed to get the LUSTER back to my floors. The oily silicone products did away with that. Well this Bona Refresher left them like new!! and the application was super easy!! My whole house took one full 32 oz bottle (+/- 1000 sq) I would recommend you buy two because depending on how generous you pour and how shiny you want it, you may want to add another coat. I only did one coat and ended up with the luster I wanted without an exaggerated Shiny floor. I understand this will last a few months. But now that I know it's so easy, I can apply a few times a year with pleasure! Lesson learned! DUST floors daily or multi-weekly with bona Dust Pad. Use Bona CLEANER as needed, perhaps once a week (love their handle and pads!!!) - glides effortlessly! Bona REFRESHER a few times a year. NOTHING ELSE!! ... show more

  • Wish I had discovered this product months ago.
Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Bona Refresher is a top of the line floor REFRESHER for urethane floors, not to be confused with Polyurethane finishes, When I purchased my home I was duped ( by the luster of the shine on the floors) into thinking the hardwood floors were finished professionally with Polyurethane finishing products. I quickly discovered after a few months of wear, how wrong I was. I was suckered into thinking the floors were finished correctly with Polyurethane finishes over original Polyurethane finishes. But the seller and previous owner had took cheap shortcuts to sell the house and had used Urethane products OVER Polyurethane products. A BIG NO, NO. But I bit the bullet and searched for a solution to my ever growing mess I unknowingly walked into. With a little experimenting and employing many of countless advise articles by Amazon reviewers I final nailed it down to where I control my floor shine instead of the other way around. (Living with dull floors). Truthfully I tried Mop and Glo and a few other water based products all to no avail. Finally accepting my problems realized I was wasting my time and money. Floor polishes of any brand or type just would not produce the luster of shine I was seeking. Then the Heavens opened presenting other options to attempt. I had accidently discovered Bona Floor REFRESHER. I read everything I could get my hands on and finally accepted I was on the right track to recovering my beautiful shiny floors. The label on the Bona bottle clearly states the product is designed to be used as a "URETHANE MAINTENANCE COATING" Those three words sold me immediately and off I went back on Amazon and ordered two of the $18.00, 32ox bottles. Since using this product I have discovered several other methods to restore my floors. I have learned I can spot apply the refresher in lieu of whole room applications. Works just as well especially on areas were recliners, kitchen table and chairs, and hallways. I also purchased from Amazon the Bona Cleaner which I use each time just prior to spot applications of the Refresher. Beautiful results and I love both BONA products. ... show more

  • Do not wet the pads with water. Work small areas. Do not wet the pads with water. Work small areas.
Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
We moved into a new home with Hard Wood Floors. They were worn, scratched up and dull. I bought this product and after 2 coats can wait to have them refinished. I recommend vacuum, dry mop with the Bona spray hard wood cleaner. Then prep by using the touch up wood markers. VERY IMPORTANT do not wet the microfiber pads with water. They gunk up the floor (I believe that it drys unevenly. Work small areas. Let dry overnight before doing 2nd Coat. 1st photo is funky 2nd photo is not. I will have to go over 1st area again. ... show more

  • Way better result than I ever expected.
Size: 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
After mopping with the regular Bona products, our hardwood floors looked great until people walked on them. You could see like a grey haze on the floor. A flooring store recommended that I use this product to remove that haze and footprint marks after I mopped. I used this product. Our floors now look amazing. If you walk around in socks the floor no longer shows footprints. It's like night and day. Make sure you get the beige Bona mop head for using this product. Check out the Bona video online before you use this product. I wet the mop with water the first time thinking that's what I was supposed to do. It ruined everything. You're supposed to get the mop wet only with the product. ... show more
