On the rising edge of SCK, the serial data is input by the SDL to the internal 8-bit shift register and output by Q7', while the parallel output is the data of the 8-bit shift register stored in the rising edge of LCK. Bit parallel output buffer. When the control signal of the serial data input OE is low, the output value of the parallel output is equal to the value stored by the parallel output buffer.

all that I tested have the same flaw... do not cascade properly @5v .. QH' pulses when shifting a '1' from QG to QH. this causes the downstream chip to set its QA high... noted that all that I tested work as expected @3.3v. update: maybe I'm damaging these by running @5v? 70ma current limit?? should learn more about these and post a more informed review. if i am damaging them, it is a subtle failure since they still work @3.3v.... maybe it would be better if when you damage them, they self destruct? with the magic smoke? ... show more

On the packaging it appears the chips are from Texas Instruments. There is also a distorted ti logo on the chips. In my image the top 3 chips were ordered directly from ti, including an sn74hc595. The chip below is the one from this order. If that does not bother you and you just need a bunch of shift registers to mess around / learn with, these chips work as they should. ... show more

Arrived quickly and undamaged within the protective plastic box (photo 1). I've only tested four of the 25 as pictured in photo 2 (buried under the 32 resistors). These 595's really solve the pin-shortage issue for many application designs. Photo 3 shows a nano MCU controlling the 128 individual LEDs (matrix) via four 595s and only three control pins (i.e. data, clock, latch/trigger). This technique is so common the Arduino IDE provides the shiftOut() function to take care of the details. I also purchased this set of ICs so my ATtiny85's would have an opportunity to control more complex outputs since it only has five digital pins max. (and less if using analog or PWM or I2C circuits); these shift registers give the Tiny85 a chance to do even more. So far, these ICs operate flawlessly. I recommend and would buy again. ... show more

These are counterfeit ICs and falsely advertised to appear as if they are authentic TI units. The one i tried so far works fine, but the ICs are obviously not authentic TI. I will not state specific details because it will only help the seller refine their nefarious methods. I knew what I was getting because TI chips don't come from China, and cost significantly more, but what really aggravates me in this case is that the product photos do NOT match the actual product, and in fact were created using what appear to be authentic parts. ... show more

I've purchased a number of products from Bojack, so I was surprised that these chips failed to perform as expected. Not one of the batch held up. I used a heat sink to counter overheating and had failures with the simplest of test applications: hooked up to the Arduino, light up LEDs in sequence from 00000001 to 10000000. The process worked for a minute or so, then died dismally. I substituted another chip from the batch and .... same problem. I checked for shorts in the breadboard wiring and found none. Consequently, I tossed all the chips. As I stated above, other Bojack products have performed as expected. Not these guys. ... show more
