Description

FoamTouch upholstery foam is made in the USA. FoamTouch upholstery foam is made of Polyurethane. High Density foam has a compression rate (ILD) of 44 lbs. ILD is a unit of measurement and refers to the number of pounds (lbs) of pressure or force that is needed to indent foam to a depth of 4” by 25%. This test is performed on an area of 50 square inches. High density foam is designed for that firm feeling for those who do not want to sink into their couch. FoamTouch has 100% recovery rate, 5-7 years durable and suitable for long-term use. All foam sheets are sold per sheet, not per yard, and rolled for packaging. Foams are rolled under pressure to fit the box. The foam packages need to be opened immediately once you receive them. Do not let the foam sit unopened for more than 1 week. Do not open with a box cutter or any kind of blade. Use a ball point pen or a pencil. Start by making a little incision and break the seal (tape) from there. Please let the foam sheet lay flat for 48-72 hours before starting your project Ideal uses for foams are for Chair Pads, Seat Pads, Couch Cushions, Furniture, Pillow, Seat Cushions, Chair Cushions, Patio Cushions, Furniture Cushions, Rocking Chair, Car Seats, Bike Seats, Upholstery Repair, Foam Mattress, and Mattress. 1” of foam is not much when covering a hard seating surface, no matter what the density rating is. I used this with an existing 1” layer and my 215lbs does not bottom out. That was my goal. Having been through this process a few times I just have to suggest that 1.5” is the minimum for hard surface covering. This seems to be good quality foam and should keep its loft. Good seller, too. I purchased this to revive our older couch. The cushions were pretty worn in and not as comfortable or firm as they were four years ago when we purchased. I purchased the 1” thickness to add in with the cushions existing foam. I was worried because it didn’t seem “high density” as advertised but it worked like a charm. My husband commented how much more support the couch had. Also a plus, my dog found this 1” thick foam more appealing than his $200 orthopedic dog bed lol. Wonderful quality upholstery foam. Smells really great, too! It is true white in color and not yellowed like other brands. Just DO NOT open this in a small space as it quite literally explodes open (compressed packaging).

    • Did not work for crafting for me
Crafters take note I bought this for costuming to sculpt shapes to build the shape of a creature. Usually any upholstry foam works fine for this. However, this foam is very rubbery and will not cut in a precise manner with a razor blade. I opted instead for Walmarts foam, which has a slightly more "plasticy crunch" when you cut with with a razor blade- better for precision carving. To be fair, no fault of the product itself. I'm sure it would make a fine seat cushion, just did not work for me. ... show more

The original foam in my chair cushions did not hold up well at all. I added a layer of this foam and it helped quite a bit. Definitely better than before. Also this foam is reasonably priced.

Title says it all. It’s a decent foam pad for the money, but it yellows quickly. If you’re not worried about that, then go for it.
