We brought this and a completely different brand swim vest with us to the beach since our 2.5 y.o. loves the water, but can’t swim yet and she’s only 28lbs so we thought this one might be too big (it was not). The OTHER vest did not keep her afloat well, and would cause her face to tip in the water. This vest was super easily to put on/off, kept her afloat, kept her head up, and made her feel secure enough to navigate the water without us holding her. She didn’t want to take it off! Started using this when my son was 2 years old and it honestly works. I never let him out if my sight at the pool and I have seen him jump and fall under water and he pops right up before I can get up to get him. It’s honestly the best $ I’ve ever spent. We purchased one of these for our 3 year-old after seeing two very small children at the pool using them - to our surprise, these little kids were able to stay completely upright in the water. Our previous life jackets landed our toddler either on his back or front in the water and really did little to prevent him from drowning, in my opinion. This has given me incredible peace of mind at the pool and the beach. My only complaint is that our son is only 42 pounds (very tall and skinny) and this is extremely snug on him.     • Best toddler life jacket/puddle wader out there

This is the best item I have purchased for my toddler so far. We were having her wear a life jacket in the pool, but it restricted her movement too much for her to try to learn swim techniques. We tried without a jacket but she had to be held so closely that it didn't work well either. The puddle jumper we originally tried was another type and brand that was 30-50 lbs and did not have a very large chest piece. It did not keep her head upright from going into the water and was not recommended by the coast guard for ocean/boat safety. This one is. It is great because my daughter is 20 months and I can have her float around me and not need to be held 24/7. She can actually swim a bit on her own now and is improving at learning swim techniques each time we take her in the pool. It works well for the ocean, but if your child isn't a strong swimmer or doesn't have the control of their bodies enough yet to battle waves, even with you right next to them, it's best not too try any swimming movements just float. This is cute but definitely runs small! I bought the shark floatie for my 2 1/2 year old son who weighs 32 lbs and the adjustable strap in the back is allllllmost fully extended. Which means, it fits him okay this summer, but by next summer when he’s 3 1/2 I’m wondering if it will be too tight on him? The weight limits says 30-50 lbs but I honestly can’t see how this would fit a larger child. (In fact, if would probably fit someone under 30 lbs pretty well). I’ve included pics of my two year old wearing this (32 lbs and it’s pretty fitted as I stated above) as well as my 48 lb 6 year old (who doesn’t need it but I wanted to show what 48 lbs on a skinny kid looks like. I couldn’t even buckle the strap around him). I do like that it has a built in vest which will hopefully deter my child from trying to slip his arms out of the floatie part. ... show more
