  • Yeah it makes 3 Cups - IF YOU'RE MINI-ME!
Color: Black
It is too bad that I have to write at least 20 words about this product, because I could sum up everything I need to say by writing "three cups my ass." But that is only four words, so I guess I better write some more. I want to start with the disclaimer that i really do like Bodum products. They are well made. Could they be a little more affordable than what they are? Sure, but they are fairly priced considering what else is out there. Anyway, I just got a new electric kettle, and I got this cool Bodum one. The downside is it is a small kettle, which I didn't mind so much. Only 4 cups for the kettle. That actually makes 4 cups. But I figured since my old 8-cup french press broke in a move, instead of getting another one that I wouldn't be able to fill all the way up, I would get a 3 cup one. That would be plenty. I typically only drink 2 or 3 cups, so that would be fine, especially since my kettle only does 4 cups. Then I open the box for this damn thing and I am like seriously? I didn't realize Bodum was based out of Munchkinland, because there was no way in hell this would hold 3 cups of coffee. The entire thing is nearly smaller than a NORMAL SIZED coffee mug. I fill this thing and I get one cup of coffee out of it. And I am not talking about 1 cup in one of those giant Fiesta soup mugs that I see insane people use as coffee mugs sometimes because they want to see how much coffee they have to drink before their heart explodes. Those things will hold like an entire pot of coffee. I am talking about a regular sized, normal people coffee mug. One cup. That's all. Totally lame. I have these tiny coffee mugs that were liberated from the iHop, and they are small. Not a full cup of coffee will be held in them. You eat at iHop all the time, you know what I am talking about, Tex. I can barely fill 2 of those at best. Typically it is coming up way short unless you want to add like 1 cup of half and half to it. It's fine for when it's just me, and it's a good excuse for not making breakfast and just giving the girl bus fare and sending her on her merry way in the morning, but still. Anyway, three stars because the quality of it is good. Bodum products are good, this is no exception. It's just not meant for people as much as it is meant to be an accessory for Barbie's Foreclosure Dream House. Or if you were going to just put a rubber nipple over it so your newborn infant child can experience the joys of coffee from a french press, because they are babies and they shouldn't be having more than one cup of coffee anyway. ... show more

  • Bodum Brazil French Press Coffee Maker
Color: Black
I have purchased a french press in the past from Bodum. I like the model where you can remove the glass part from the plastic easily. I think you can remove this one but you have to lift up a clip on the handle and I feel like I will break the glass if I do. It is also a little awkward to remove the lid/strainer part. Not difficult you just have to twist it a little instead of lifting it straight up like the last one I had. I read many reviews on french press coffee makers and many complained that they were much smaller than they thought. But in Europe a cup is only 4 ounces. So a 12 oz french press is considered 3 cups in Europe. I broke the glass on my last one and found out there is only $5.00 difference between buying a replacement glass verses getting a whole new one. So I bought the complete unit. My husband is the coffee drinker and he loves the french press. Just boil water, put the coffee ground up in the glass part, add the lid/strainer part, wait for as long as you like to get the strength you want, then press the plunger and you have a perfect 1cup American size mug of coffee. The only I gave it 3 stars was because I liked the 1st model I bought better. Everything else was fine. Fast shipping and easy to purchase. ... show more

  • Perfect for a single mug
Color: Black
I've had this press for over a year and a half now and it's perfect for the office. I'm the only one that drinks decaf so I make it myself instead of in the office coffee machine, and usually only a single mug - by "cup" they mean "coffee cup" which different people and brands define as anywhere from 4-6 ounces, hence the "3 cup" on this one - so this is perfect for me. I make sure to use a coarse grind in it and a few little grounds here and there might sometimes still get into my mug but overall this does a great job of brewing a decent mug of coffee. This fills up my mug just to the right level and it's easy to wash. I'd recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • The best 12oz press for the money
If you want a simple, inexpensive one person/one good-sized serving of coffee, don't bother going to Walmart or Bed&Bath for their lowest priced model. This is the best one you will find for the price. Some notes: I don't know why they say "3-cup" because that depends on the size of your cup. This makes 12oz of product. Some other reviews mentioned that the strainer is one solid piece. Mine comes apart and reassembles perfectly so don't worry about being able to clean it. The plastic case looks like this will be hard to break even though it is real glass (WAY better than the "unbreakable" ones). But the plastic is sharp and I have to clean carefully so I don't cut myself on the notches along the rim. The only other bad point is that it seems to cool down fast, so I have to wrap it while brewing. But the seal is strong and the filter works very well as long as you don't grind your beans too fine. ... show more

  • Good Value for Money, Small Improvements Needed
Color: Black
This french press makes just the right amount of coffee for a single serving. I've had really good luck with the press but your coffee will really depend on technique and beans. Pros: - Easy to take apart - Perfect single serving size - Good quality - Good value for money Cons: - Small diameter, so if you have big hands like me you can't reach inside when cleaning - Somewhat loose metal filter allows for some ground coffee to escape into the upper chamber ... show more

  • One cup French Press
Color: Black
I bought this for my son so he can make coffee for himself at home. He is 13 and has ADHD. He loves his French Press. I had to give this 4 stars as when I bought it the description said it was a 3 cup however it just makes one small mug of coffee. It is still great for my son and his needs. Would definitely buy this again. ... show more
