Good price, heavy duty chess pieces with standard size ( they are large) ! And a nice equaliser chess dice will definitely add more fun to the play incase with beginners and even with teaching someone new to the game. The set includes one extra 👸 piece for both colours. Also a nice chess manual for beginners who want to know the basics of the game. Excellent for introducing young people to chess. The dice feature is very helpful for handicapping the more experienced player (usually the teacher) and giving the learning player a sense of having a chance and really playing the game. Only complaint is in the enclosed written documentation. This gives all the basics except any sense of the principles which beginners need to know, e.g. develop pieces before pawns, control the center, move each piece only once, castle as soon as possible. Without some sense of the larger strategies, beginning players generally just move pieces around with little in the way of planning, longer-term goals, etc. If these kinds of general principles were added to the product, I would rate it 5 stars. ... show more

I use this chess set to teach an after school chess club. It is an excellent value and very well packaged. The chess pieces are perfect for elementary school children and the chess dice and beginner's board are a nice touch.

Good value for the $20 I paid here on Amazon. The board is basic, foldable, and portable. The pieces are plastic but in the proper size for play, have a felt bottom, good weight but not heavy by any means. The size is not too big not too small. The box includes a chess rules booklet. Are we the only family that bought a chess kit right after watching the "Queens gambit" on Netflix? :) It's fun to learn how to play chess. My son picked up an interest in chess from watching the older kiddos play at his after care center. This board was a great introduction for him. Nice sized pieces for him to hold and a gameboard that easily showed where to place the pieces to set them up so he can do so independently.
