These fake cameras are very convincing looking, even up close! Of course you would have to climb a ladder and install them by drilling some holes into your soffits or eaves of the siding of your house to really make them look professionally mounted and convincing. The red LED light that illuminates at night is a great addition to the fake-out character of these inexpensive devices of foolery, but I wonder how long they will last with the installed 2 AA size batteries? I know that LED lights don't tend to consume much power, so I'm assuming the lights will last for quite awhile- maybe several months, but I'm thinking that the power of the batteries will wan when winter temperatures make a comeback in the fall. The only reason I'm harping on that topic is because who wants to get up on a ladder to change the batteries in these dummy cameras? That's not my idea of an important home-ownership task, but its probably a good idea to keep that LED light working properly as an added deterrent to would-be thieves! ... show more

These look pretty real, but the red light eats up a pair of AAs in less than a day. They’ll still do the job as a deterrent, but the light was a big selling point for me. I give one star because it works...only if you preemptively fix/solve the issues so it doesn't NOT work or break when installing. The issues I ran into: 1. I bought a 4 pack. Of those, one had both wires already come off due to poor soldering. Another had one wire off, with other wire needing just the slightest movement of the wire to come off. The other two had wires that stayed on with slight tugs. If you don't have a soldering iron, this renders them useless. I do own one, and I fixed both units. If you have units that have wires still attached but were poorly soldered, they will likely break off once installing the battery cover due to the substantial manipulation of the wires required for the installation of the cover. Do a tug test before installing. 2. The template stickers that are supposed to guide your screw placement ahead of time are not aligned properly. You WILL be drilling unnecessary holes that don't align with the base of the actual unit. Then you'll have to do it all over again. I don't like drilling holes in my home's exterior. 3. The screws that come with the unit don't fit through the base. What I mean is that the threaded portion gets caught and requires you to "tap" the plastic base as you're screwing in. Why is this a problem? It's because the base is made of very cheap plastic and you will most likely be screwing the 3 screws at different rates into your home. This creates a "jacking" effect that the plastic base has to withstand without cracking...not likely. Drill the holes slightly larger to fix the issue. I haven't installed these yet so I have no idea what the long term performance will be. I caught all of this before I installed because it's...well it's dirt cheap from china ... show more
