Thin plastic but look realistic. Should outlast the weather for a few years especially if mounted under an eve out of direct sun & rain. For the price, not bad at all. I’ll not use batteries; red light would be very noticeable at night but I’m not concerned about the red light working. Only problem I have is that I ordered box of 4 cameras but they only put enough screws in for two cameras. But I’ll use exterior wood screws instead their interior screws which look like they’d rust. Also, to open the battery section, unscrew the front section, then tap gently to pop out the clear plastic part with the fake led lights. That’s the only part to take off. Don't pry out the threaded section. That clear part is in place with a plastic gasket so it sticks a little bit - to keep water out. ... show more

Neat. It does look real. Though, I had to make a little modification to make it more real looking. I added a little black colored wire. Drilled couple small holes, and some glue. Viola, a "fake" camera that has a contrasting electrical/data wire coming from it to behind the mounting plate. Paired with the flashing red light. So good. ... show more

The good: Simple construction, easy to access AA battery slot, cheap price The bad: The dummy cam looks more convincing without the light. The red LED blinks rapidly, is at the 8 o’clock position, and is brighter than modern security cameras. It would look like a normal cam with the LED at a very low light level and constant on. The bright blinking makes it look like a ‘90s camera, and the LED not being at the top or bottom is just odd. I guess I’ll just keep batteries out of it ... show more
