  • Excellent quality (and failure protected!) portable Power Station
Style: BLUETTI EB55
My first Bluetti product! As a retired electrical engineer, I tried to summarize what everyone wants to know: GOOD: +Hard cardboard outer shipping box and well designed product box gave fantastic shipping protection (and looked great!) +Quality of unit is outstanding. Fit/finish, buttons/connectors and LED display are all of high quality and work well +Easy to carry around (folding handle, stows to allow stacking flat items on top of unit); however, it is not a "light-weight" box +LiFePO4 batteries! Long battery life (and the best cycle life of any battery chemistry) +Double charging input capability (200W wall brick and 160W solar); can also charge from your vehicle's cig lighter port while driving +Bluetti put the very capable EB70 700/1400W full-sine inverter in this box. It was capable of running my small refridg/freezer (which has a 6.5 FLA/780W rating) for over 4 hours (87W running) or that fridge plus my eBike charger for 2+ hours, total 270W) +100W USB-C charging port can power/charge USB-C input laptops +After discharging to 20% (fridge/eBike charger loads) I was able to fully recharge the EB55 in 2+ hours with 200W of solar panels at 102F ambient (if temps were cooler it would have been 1+ hour) +Finally, the "lantern" light is MUCH more usable than the "flashlight" variety on other SoGens (Solar Generators, a term trademarked by Hobotech, excellent reviews AND purchasing discounts: https://hobotech.tv) BAD: -IF you need ... over 700W continuous AC power (you'll likely need a larger battery pack as well, e.g. EB150, EB240 or AC200P) ... over 500Wh capacity (buy a larger-capacity battery, e.g. EB70 at 700Wh or any of those mentioned above) ... to know the exact amount of charge left on the battery, the LED display does not show % of charge directly, it just has a 5-bar display (20% each bar); if you never discharge below ~20% then no big deal ... two 100W USB-C ports (buy the EB70!) ... silent charging (AC brick fan runs continuously, MPPT solar charge controller runs the internal fans) -You can't use a residential/business solar panel since the VOC of those panels is too high for the EB55 solar input; just get ~200W of a standard "12V" hard panel (e.g. BOUGERV 200w) or a suitcase/folding type (Renogy 200W/Bluetti SP200-do not use the charge controllers provided on these, wire straight from the solar panels!) SUMMARY: Highly recommended if your loads/capacities are within the limits of the box. This will last you a LONG time and Bluetti is very responsive to issues/warranty (likely will never need service!) Instruction booklet error: LCD SCREEN GUIDE "How to operate on power station to turn ON/OFF ECO Mode/and change the working frequency" section appears to have been copied directly from the EB70. To enter the settings mode you press the AC and [lower USB!] DC buttons, EB70 only has one DC power button, EB55 has two-the USB DC switch is the one to use to enter/set the menu. Finally I recommend you join the "Bluetti Portable Power Station" Facebook group. You may have a question that others are thinking about (or has already been answered)! ... show more

  • Best value solar generator in the 500wh range
Style: BLUETTI EB55
Let me start off by saying I purchased Bluetti EB55 for a recent camping trip in which this was the primary source of power for my Dometic fridge. I made sure to fully charge this the day I received it and it provided power the fridge running for the weekend, not to mention other electronics such as a few Samsung phones, an iPhone, USB powered Moto walkie talkies, and a DJI drone. I did a lot of research and what I wanted was a solar generator in the 500wh range mainly due to size and weight- something light enough to carry and capable of powering camping equipment for a few days (not to mention to use for emergencies). The EB55 provides enough power to fill my needs as I was down to 20% on a 2-day camping trip while powering all of my equipment. What's great is that it supports pass-through charging so on the trip back, I left it plugged into the car's 12v lighter outlet to recharge while on the drive home. The EB55 gives you plenty of ways to recharge your electronics. It is the only 500wh solar generator on the market (that I know of) that provide 4 ac outlets, 4 USB-A ports, 1 100w PD USB-C port, a 12v outlet, and a wireless 15w charger at the top. If you have an electronic device, this will be able to power/recharge it. What's funny was my friend forgot their iPhone charger (I'm a Samsung guy and always have my cables with me) and we were able to use the wireless charger at the top to charge their phone, which was a life saver. The design of the EB55 was another reason why I decided to purchase this. The EB55 is shaped like a box, with a foldable handle, and the handle is completely flush when in the collapsed position which allows you to stack or place things on top of it- something you can't do on one of the major competitors in which will remain nameless. Another thing I like about this EB55 is that it uses Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. The benefits to this are they allow up to 2500 full charges to 80% capacity (regular Lithium Ion batteries only provide 800 charges to 80% capacity) not to mention they are safer, too, in exchange for it being slightly heaver. But what you're also getting is something that you can use that has a very long shelf life and may also cut down on waste as you will not be replacing the unit as often as other brands. If I had to say the one negative about the device (which is really nitpicking) is the display and that it does not show you the exact percentage of power remaing. It actually displays in 20% increments up to 100%. The issue here is when you are down to the final 20%, you won't know if you're at around 20% or 1% left. But given the excpetional value, price of the unit and what capabilities it has, this, for me, can be easily forgiven. Pros: -Lots and lots of ways to power/charge your devices -Collapsible handle with a flat top -15w wireless charger -700w pure sine wave inverter with a 500wh battery -Lithium Iron Phosphate battery type = 2500+ full charges to 80% battery life -Useable LED light in the back that can be usefull for emergencies or camping -4 power outlets -1 100W power delivery USB-C port Con: -Display only shows 20% increments for remaining power Overall- One of the best, if not the best, solar generators on the market.. you get A LOT of value for the money in the 500w segment capped off by a company (Bluetti) who seems to keep pushing the envelope and innovating the market which in turn will make my next solar generator purchase be another Bluetti.. the AC200max! ... show more

  • Lots of power in a small package
Style: BLUETTI EB55
This portable power station has double the energy capacity of the EB3A and is only a tiny bit bigger. The compromise is that the AC charger is an external power brick. Pros: Love the compact and light weight design. Love the 5521 barrel plugs - I use these for my 12 volt devices like portable fridges because they offer a more reliable connection than the cigarette lighter plug. I really like that all of the outputs are off until you switch them on. I'm able to change using a generic 24v solar panel with the included cable. Cons: The car changing cable is ridiculously short - I had to order a six foot cord separately. The display is a bit primitive and doesn't provide run time or charge time info like the EB3A display does. Battery capacity is displayed in 20% increments. No Bluetooth connectivity like the EB3A. ... show more
