For painters, during water/flood restoration, construction, crawlspaces and attics, remodels, painting, sewage, remediation, fire damage restoration, water damage restoration. For men and women who spend a great deal of time in dusty environments, air quality and related health complications are a constant concern and should be a top priority. The BlueDri Air Shield 550 (AS-550) provides a convenient and effective solution. The Air Shield 550 is equipped with 3 separate filtration stages to protect your health and well- being. Whether you suffer from allergies or are on a dusty job site, this air scrubber is a must-have for environments with contaminated air. The Air Shield 550 has a wide array of features for greater convenience during use. An LED light indicator notifies you when the intake filter should be changed and a variable speed control mechanism allows you to adjust the power and speed at which the filter operates. Some of the other features include a daisy chain- compatible GFCI port and an hour meter display. Each unit is made with an easily stackable design to save space at your job site or shop as it cleans the air. I’m a home owner in the middle of a construction project. The dust from the demo and dry wall sanding, cutting etc was making me cough and giving me some shortness of breath. I was also getting upset about the chemical smells in the house from paint primer, glues, etc. So I decided to try this unit. At the time of purchase I decided to also buy more of the regular filters (i think they are called B filters) , and some of the carbon filters, because apparently the carbon filters remove chemicals and chemical smells from the air. So all in all I spent like $900-$1000. My feeling is that if a $1000 investment keeps my lungs and my mitochondria healthier, I’m 100% in! So the first thing I noticed was you just plug in and turn on. It’s really that easy. But like I said, I did buy the carbon filters so I installed that, and when I say install I mean just place inside and shut the door. Again, very easy! I put the machine on full speed, left the house for several hours and when I came home the air was 100% cleaner and a huge percentage of the smell in the air was gone. I plan to run this in my house non stop until the entire construction project is done. I wish I had bought it earlier because it does not pick up all the dust that is already settled. It only picks up dust that is floating through the air. If I had installed it earlier it would have prevented a lot of this mess! ... show more

Got this machine a couple months ago and it really does clean the air. I had to dry cough and runny nose for so long and we ran this machine for a couple hours. No one sneezed coughed and we use a lot less Kleenex. It is a bit loud but when we leave the house, we turn it on and let it run. I have a smaller one in my bedroom of the same brand and it works really well too, and it’s very quiet. I would recommend brand. ... show more

This is a heavy Unit… This is a VERY LOUD Unit… It will remove dust from the air, but it is not going to remove dust that has settled on surfaces. It moves a lot of air, if you ask me the air flow makes dust blow all over the house… Definitely NOT something you are going to want running while you are watching TV, in fact I have it in my bedroom when I’m in the living room, then in living room when I’m in the bedroom, 2700 sq house, and I can hear it from any room… (gives me a headache) so I turn it on when I leave the house, and off when I return… I think this is more for a construction site… If I had known how loud it was, I would not have purchased it. The pre-filters are just a standard media filter material in a slightly unusual size so you are stuck purchasing filter from them. The filters should only cost a few dollars each as they are of the same material as a furnace filter. The HEPA filter inside is a bit different and I understand the higher costs for it. We bought this to use during a huge demolition project in which 3900 sq feet were taken down to the studs, all insulation, flooring and pretty much anything else we could get our hands on was removed. We recently had a flood in our home and the restoration company had brought in this units much more expensive competitor and left them behind for us to use for awhile, after they picked them up we decided we were so impressed wth how well they worked that we needed one to buy for our upcoming much larger project, however we weren't impressed with the competitors pricing- so I found this product and couldn't be happier! It works just as well as the other one and is actually a fair bit quieter than the other ones- it's still noisy but at a more tolerable level. It's actually much less expensive to buy this unit than to rent one even for just a few weeks!! This past weekend we removed all the insulation from our ceilings. We have a relatively flat roof which we found out while removing the insulation that it had at one point been a tar and gravel roof now replaced with a membrane roof, however you can imagine the amount of dust, stones, mold and whatever else was up there since the 50's -pretty much the most disgusting insulation you've ever seen. When we were taking it down you couldn't see across the room - the air was literally black. So we we finished our job, picked up all the insulation and left the air scrubber running. 20 minutes later we returned and the air was totally clear!!! ( we still had to wear masks but the difference was incredible and saved us a ton of cleaning!) We vacuumed off the unit and opened up the hepa filter and vacuumed that off as well and were able to keep working rest of the day- without this machine the dirt and dust in the air would have lingered for many many hours!
