This air cleaner works very well in my home. I noticed less dust, which was my biggest problem. It is quiet and I love the fact that you can use the app to adjust it whenever you need to as I have one upstairs and one downstairs. I can adjust the speed or turn it to auto or even turn it off whenever I need to without getting up by using my phone even when I’m not home. I also like that you can monitor what the air quality was throughout the day. It picks up odors, like hairdryer and kitchen odors. Talk about bang for your buck! The BlueAir purifiers are the best looking on the market, and they have the tech to match. I love the app – being able to track your air quality like that is fantastic. I have this smaller unit in my office where my cat's litter box is set up to support my larger BlueAir 511i in the living room, and you can literally see when I scoop based on the air quality spikes. The auto mode is soundless, which I LOVE, and even when you crank the fans up, it's not loud or bothersome whatsoever. I waited six weeks to write this review so I could get a good feel for this 511i Max since it was a replacement for my Levoit 131s that randomly stopped working just short of the 3yr warranty. First, the app: Simple download and easy set-up. Setting up schedules is a snap and there’s a feature where you can turn on your location so it’ll refresh the air right before you get home (haven’t tried it yet but sounds cool). Noise: A+ I used Decibel X on my phone for the best I could manage and at level 3 (the highest setting) it registered 55.2 decibels (which is halfway between “a quiet home” and “a quiet street”) Level 2 — 44 decibels (white noise level/halfway between Quiet Whisper and Quiet Home) Level 1 — 35 to 40 decibels (halfway between rustling leaves and quiet home) Night mode: 32 to 33 decibels (“rustling leaves”) Suffice to say: this air purifier is quieter than my roommate’s nails clacking on her keyboard in the office across the hall from my room with the door shut even on “High”. I sleep just fine with the schedule I have it on (auto is fine “night” mode isn’t required but drops the decibels a tiny bit more). Air Quality and Movement: in a 64 sq ft room I don’t “feel” the air moving until I put it on level 2 or 3, but it smells fresh enough that I don’t need to do that unless I want to help out my ceiling fan with circulation. I’ll try to come back and update how long it lasts but my last air purifier (not this brand) was perfectly fine until one day, nearly three years into owning it, it stopped working and gave me flashing lights. ... show more

    • Quiet, Effective, and Smart Enough to Just Let It Run
I picked this up mainly for pet dander and general dust in my bedroom, and it's made a noticeable difference. Within the first day or two, I could tell the air felt cleaner, and the auto mode does a good job of ramping up when it detects something and quieting down when the air's already clean, so I'm not manually adjusting settings all the time. The HEPASilent technology lives up to its name. Even on higher fan speeds, it's nowhere near as loud as other purifiers I've owned, and on the lower settings it's practically silent, which makes it easy to leave running overnight without it being disruptive. WiFi connectivity works well through the app, letting me check air quality readings and adjust settings remotely, which is a nice bonus if I want to kick it up a notch before getting home. Setup was straightforward and it paired with my WiFi with no real hiccups. Given the square footage rating, it feels appropriately sized for a bedroom or smaller room rather than something to rely on for whole-home coverage, and that tracks with how it's marketed. I keep it in my bedroom specifically and it handles that space with room to spare. My few hesitations keeping this at four stars: the filter replacement cost adds up over time, and the app occasionally lags or takes a moment to sync current air quality data. So I have a bigger version and now the 511i, and I absolutely love them. Easily programmable, quiet or loud, whatever you need it produces. I use this smaller one for air flow and noise to help sleep and it’s perfect. You can use the slider in the app to set almost any speed you want, and can get that programmed for bed time. This air filter really made a difference clearing pollen out of our bedroom. My wife’s incessant cough has ceased, and I sleep much better as well. We liked it so much we bought a second one! We thought we had a problem with the air quality sensor on this one, but it turned out to be a problem with the outlet. No matter, Blueair bent over backwards to make things right, even shipping us a new unit, then paying to have it returned when it turned out not to be needed.     • Love it. Noticeably different Air Quality
We purchased x2 of these and they work well. We run them on High near the dogs area at night, with a noticeable difference in air quality. We have huskies, so lots of fur. The other is in our bedroom which we run on low at night then automatic when we’re gone. You can see the filter where it collects dust . This works . Also we love that we can control it with an App and also manually. I’ll purchase a few more soon for the rest of the house. (When we cook the device senses an air quality change and kicks on high…Love that!) ... show more
