  • 4 Month Review
I purchased the Blu Vivo XII about 4 months ago as a replacement for my Blu R1HD. (Yeah, aside from the old Android version, that 4 year old R1HD with Gorilla Glass has held up to this day crack/scratch free and is still my backup.) I needed a newer phone and newer version of android and happened to catch the Vivo on sale. Best value for the money in my opinion. Points for including screen protectors, headset earbuds, case, and fast charger. Dropped in a sim from a bring your own phone plan no problem. Only cons so far: I'm not a fan of teardrop/hole punch/notch front cams, No 64bit Android (they apparently save that for their Fortnite Phone), At some point the ear speaker wouldn't work so all calls had to be on loudspeaker or headset. However this hardware speaker glitch resolved with yesterday's update. That said, after the initial setup/update at purchase I was afraid Blu wouldn't continue support for this phone but so far so good. Played around a bit with the camera, light games, and VR apps though again I mostly use the basics (calls text, web browsing) which would easily get me a day or two off of the battery. Hoping this phone will last as well as the old Blu phone and I will update this review should anything change. ... show more

  • Another great phone
Had Blu for several years they always work well for a several years at which point its good to upgrade. Nothing to fault on this phone has everything I would need with plenty of storage and memory. Camera takes great shots, Battery last at least a day and charges fast with charge or wireless. Great case included much better than previous cases. Running latest Android with good face recognition and finger print scanner. If you want a good quality smart phone should work well for most people if want a flag ship phone feel free to spend 10x more. Very happy with the upgrade. Others mention that this maybe a repackages G9 Pro however even if it is your getting a great phone at a good price upgraded to the latest operating system so cannot go wrong. ... show more

  • Premium feel without the $$$
For the price this is am amazing phone. Comparing it to my spouses Note 9. Amazing battery life, wireless charging, fingerprint reader and snappy quick response. Excellent storage a RAM for a $130 phone, AND a really nice case and already installed screen protector which was a suprise. Thanks! There are some apps in the app store that are better than stock. I recommend downloading a better gallery and also Chrome. I use the Chrome Beta app which works better than the stock chrome IMO. My only complaint is that the colors are oversaturated. BLU needs to tone this down 10-15% on all their phones actually, or just add a slider option in display settings. I use the cool/warm setting at about 50 percent but saturation control would make this phone display look much more premium. Thats really my only gripe. ... show more

  • Excellent value
This phone is a great buy for the money. I have had zero issues with it. Picture quality is good, call quality is good. Haven't had issues with updates. Setup was easy. It does have a lot of junk on it but easily removed. It's not $1000 iPhone or Samsung unit so anyone comparing them is not being fair. If you want to save 80%, then this is your phone. This is my third Blu. I used iPhones for years that were provided by my employer. Not a fan. Tried many others too. Blu makes a solid, inexpensive phone. ... show more

  • This is a G9 PRO relabeled. Lost alot of respect for the BLU brand. Pictures speak volumes. This is a G9 PRO relabeled. Lost alot of respect for the BLU brand. Pictures speak volumes.
I have been a BLU fan since I used a G-5 with android 6 I think it was. Still use it for other tasks. But this was a foul sale and very disappointing. I ordered my XII based on my faith and well earned respect of BLU products. I had wanted an android 10 phone. This was an Octoberish 2020 release as well. So a new phone, only a few weeks out. Checked all my other boxes as well. What I received was a G9 PRO that was relabeled on box and back of the cell phone. It also shipped with android 9, not the advertised 10. They had taken time to "Name" it VIVO XII in the settings. In device name. Which you can change to Yellow submarine, or sour lemon. if you like. It is just the name that the user of the phone can give it for recognition on wifi networks, ect. The phone itself told another story. It came with a model name of G9 PRO. Now this is something NOT changeable by the user. It also came out of the box with 9. I had been expecting the advertised 10. Reason I was wanting an original 10 release is to increase the likelihood of getting it updated to 11 down the road. But what I got was a 9 and they pushed 10 to it after many updates. (Which shows there is no reason 10 can't be pushed to ALL the G9 PROs in use.) See attached pictures. The last one is a screen shot of the one I kept. Sim removed so I didn't have to censure the picture. The first pictures were taken with my G8 that I still use. I had bought 3 of them to give as gifts. So I opened one of the others and it was the same thing. So reset it multiple times and back it went. Promptly refunded. Thank you Amazon for that. If I had bought these directly or from a store, they would have been bad words and hurt feelings in the end. Based on the call and conversation with the customer service rep. Who was useless and not well knowledgeable at all. I held onto the first one I opened and used it for a few weeks. But it kept tweaking my nerves that I had been so misled. So I had planed to send it back as well. However a coworker asked about it and I sold it to him. For 20.00 less than I would have gotten in refund. Also with FULL disclosure. I wouldn't want to lie to anyone, especially a customer or friend. I added a few dollars and bought the G90 PRO. Which is almost restoring my respect and admiration for BLU cell phones. It came as "advertised" so far. Time will tell. ... show more

  • What’s all the complaining about?
Great phone. Picked up at promo deal pricing when it first came out. Reviews are correct that Vivo XII is oddly missing from Blu website. I never noticed G90 listing while doing setup, but if you look at the G90pro reviews, it’s a 5-star phone—so I just smile that Blu repackaged it and sold it lower with slight difference in battery size and cameras quality. Phone is quick and responsive. No issues with charging or calling. (I’m on T-Mobile). Bloat ware is not too bad, and while a little more than I’m used to seeing Blu put on it—it’s not much by most standards—even then it’s easy to uninstall. I’ve been using Blu for a decade now and their phones usually hold up for 2-3years (which is about the time we all want a new one anyways!) Only had 1 phone (G9) that my teen son used and the usb-c charging port connector stated failing after a year but it was likely user negligence while charging. ... show more

  • bad move for Blu
EDIT: 1/11/22 THE PHONE I HAVE REVIEWED BELOW WAS A PHONE THAT PREVIOUSLY USED THIS LINK BY BLU. MY REVIEW STILL STANDS FOR THE "XII" THAT BLU TRIED TO FOOL US WITH AND SINCE IT HAD SUCH BAD REVIEWS, THE ACTUAL "XII" THAT IS RELEASED OR SOON TO BE WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT NAME "BLU Vivo XII is expected to be the first BLU 5G smartphone and it's expected to come up with a 6.3-inch display with top-notch. It will be also known by another name as BLU Vivo 12" AS QUOTED FROM THEIR WEBSITE. I have used Blu phones for so many years now. Only had 1 that was bad quality. This phone enraged me from the beginning as I thought I was scammed. I ordered the vivo xii that was released in oct 2020, but got a g9pro instead. The g9pro has amazing reviews, but that's still not the phone I purchased. After the tons of updates you have to go through before setting up phone, the phone name changed in the 'about phone' section from the g9pro to the vivo xii. So only difference is software updates. Nothing physically is different. Even the box art is same. The updates are not good updates. The phone is very basic. Screen is a tad blurry, and screenshots are very blurry. The "phone app" is constantly updating even when in use, making the phone virtually impossible to use so you can forget about making calls. Battery life is horrible and I rarely use it throughout the day. There was plenty of bloatware per usual. I'm sending mine back because after 2wks of use, the microphone/speaker are already going bad and there are 'dead zones' on the screen as well as overactive parts on screen, along with the other issues mentioned above. I don't know if that's because I purchased a refurbished phone that was advertised as new or just a faulty device. Either way, pass on this phone as it's dishonestly repackaged and possible refurbished. ... show more

  • A budget phone that acts like a premium phone
For $130, this phone is quite nice. I've used other budget phones in the past and always have major gripes, but this one surprised me! The screen is big and bright, the onboard sound is nice and loud, and the rear camera (x3) is pretty decent to boot. All around a great budget phone!
