  • Value/Price , simple review
This is a simple review for people who wanna know simply would I recommend to buy. Yes. The phone is great quality and performance for the price by far. The only cons I think most people would notice right away is the cameras are mediocre at best compared to more modern phones. However these are usable. Not great but fine. Other than that, I don't see much difference between this and most mid range smartphones in performance. I'd definitely recommend this as a simple cheap Android phone for anyone on GSM networks! I could daily this phone, but going with my iphone 13 if I want photos that don't look like they were taken on a toaster oven. Hahahah. The screen is quite nice and battery holds well. Bluetooth no issues. Wifi and cellular worked right away on t-mobile, phones specs are accurate in CPU x tester. Really impressive for the price point, I've bought phones for 380-400$ that were less powerful and updated. It's definitely something to look into. Edit : I took this device on a trip to the mountains and it can take some pretty nice photos in full daylight. I feel like in nice sunny outdoor lighting it's performance via camera isn't to bad , but indoors or in very low light it's still not it. Just wanted to add this because I slammed the camera earlier. Edit 2: this phone has been so reliable for me. It has worked on every network I've tried it on. Works with my Verizon sim, with T-Mobile as well. The headphone jack has now come in handy!!!! I would say this phone has little to no bugs, more reliable than the pixel 6 pro I just got when it comes to not having bugs. Connection on here is just made easier. Big props to blu. Enjoy ur new phone if u decide to buy :) ... show more

  • Great 5G unlocked phone at a great price. Case, screen protector and ear buds are included
I love this phone! I wanted something: 5G, at least 128/8G, relatively small (phone keep getting larger, don't they?), inexpensive, unlocked, t-mobile compatible, with a great camera. I was searching for a while before I found this. The drawbacks are: 1) the fingerprint sensor is on the power button which is a great idea, but I couldn't get it to work. 2) apparently BLU doesn't update the operating system on their phones and this one is Android 11, 3) some of the standard settings appear to be missing. I am not sure of this last but some YouTube recommendations didn't work even after I installed a hidden settings app. In one case I was trying to disable Google News Feed aka Discover and I couldn't pull up the home screen settings by pushing on an empty area of the home screen (launcher doesn't appear to have any empty areas), nor could I find home screen settings (other than the launcher) or Discover in the settings, but I was able to uninstall Google News Feed so all's well. ... show more

  • Good phone for basic needs. Fast enough with decent storage. Reliable.
I've had this phone for three years. Dual sims, unlocked, good for basic needs. Took it to Europe on vacation. No problems. Camera is OK, but video not very good compared to other, more expensive phones. But who cares, I have 4K video camera and photo camera for better picture taking. This is my 3rd BLU phone model I've owned. They have all been satisfactory phones. Nothing special compared to more popular makes by other companies. But I don't care to have latest and greatest phone gear to brag about and be a show off with those white things hanging from my ears. This biggest problem is what the BLU company won't tell you. You can't get android OS updates say from 11 to 12, etc. This causes a big problem with some apps that are eventually upgraded to a version number beyond what BLU company first installed. This practice killed my banking app (I used my PC instead) and my safe driver monitoring app. They ceased to function when the app designer killed the versions that were compatible with the OS that came with my BLU phones. Therefore, for my safe driving app, I won't get a massive insurance discount I was expecting. Soon I'll get my next non-BLU phone. It will have the capability to install Android updates for about 7 years, if practical for that long of a period. ... show more

  • Worst Phone Ever
I've had this phone for about 3 or 4 months now. At first, my only complaint was how heavy the phone is due to the large battery. But as time went on, I came to realize more cons. But I'll start with the pros: the phone is fast, has excellent battery life, and a large screen. Cons: The fingerprint scanner stopped working a couple of weeks after purchase and I could never get it to work again. Facial recognition is hit and miss. I had to exchange the first phone I had because the phone volume would randomly turn down and the only way I could turn it back up was to reset the whole phone. The phone freezes sometimes and for the first time ever, last night, the phone got extremely ridiculously hot while charging and I got an alert that the battery is overheating and to let the phone cool off before use. Overall, for the price, it's a decent phone. But I won't be purchasing this brand again. I'm putting this phone in the same class as the TCL 10L - with a price this low, it's best to keep your expectations low as well. Update 12/06/2022: This phone has gotten worse. As of yesterday, my phone only works with Wi-Fi. The mobile data will not work. My sim card works fine in my other phones, so I know it's an issue with this phone. I called tech support and was told my only option is to send the phone in for repair and the email says it will be at least a 20 day wait (possibly longer due to COVID.) And to top it all off, I have to pay for shipping! They won't even send in a pre-paid shipping label. I will NEVER buy another phone from this company again. The few dollars I saved are not worth the hassle. Update 12/23/2022: I received my phone back from Blu. Not only is my data STILL not working, but they also scratched the back of my phone during the "repair." When I told the customer service rep about the scratch, he asked me: "How do you know WE scratched the phone? (If you send your phone in for repair, take pictures of it before you box it up. Also, when I mailed my phone to them, I sent it in it's original box. When they mailed it back to me, they just wrapped the phone in bubble wrap and sent it in a manilla envelope. They made no attempts to really protect the device. When I called the company to tell them that my phone still isn't working and demand a replacement, I was told that the Warranty department is out of the office until January 3, 2023 and that I would have to call back then. I cannot believe this. I have never seen customer service this horrible in all my years of using cell phones. I finally gave up and bought a Motorola phone. When I get this Blu phone replaced - and I WILL get it replaced - I will give it to my mother to use. Blu doesn't have to worry about me darkening their doorstep ever again. Please do yourself a favor and don't buy anything from this company. Update 1/3/2023: I called the Warranty Dept and they agreed to send me a new phone. I told them I didn't want them trying to "fix" this one anymore. I wanted a replacement. So they sent me a pre-paid shipping label and had me mail my old phone in. I'm so over this phone and this company. Update 1/20/2023: I finally got my replacement phone. It shipped with old software and the phone kept restarting and giving me error messages until I was finally able to download all the updates. But once I got through that, the phone operated properly. I haven't had any problems since I activated it a week and a half ago. Hopefully, this phone will last more than six months. Be aware that this company is in no rush to send your phone back to you when you ship it in for repairs. It takes about a week after USPS tracking indicates the item was delivered for Blu to actually "accept" the return. From the time I mailed in my phone until the time I finally received a working replacement, I had been without a phone for almost 7 weeks. I was forced to buy a new phone due to their extended delays handling my repair. If you decide to buy a Blu phone, be sure to buy two so that you'll have a backup to use when the first one breaks down. Update 5/19/23: The 5G data has now stopped working on the replacement phone. It only works in 4G. I'm not going to bother requesting another phone. Blu is not worth the trouble. ... show more

  • PC tech says: Love my Blu for 4 months now, never buying ANY other mid-tier phone after this PC tech says: Love my Blu for 4 months now, never buying ANY other mid-tier phone after this
As a PC tech of 30 years, I am a tough sell for any electronic product. After dropping a $900 Samsung on the driveway, mind you a soft drop from a height of 24 inches as I sat in the sun on a low recliner.. I decided that I really do NOT need overly-priced phones that can do things I do not need. Samsung surely has the market on high quality photos, but in 2023, how much worse can a high end lower tier phone be when it comes to photos. My next move was to Motorola. After 9 years of that, I learned low end Moto phones, if you drop them, forget repair. They do not want to touch them. At the end of 2022, I decided on a new strategy. First, I got a Wells Fargo credit card that had phone replacement warranty when I paid my monthly cell service with the bill. Then I dropped Mint Mobile for a cheaper service using Hello Mobile. Hello works best if you have WiFI at home. I get away with $10 a month because I work from home and maybe do 10 hours a week outside the house. Next I read ALL the reviews on phones that cost under $400. And then found tons of YouTube and independent reviews that said this phone was incredible value for the money. I thought perhaps this was too good to be true, but figured, when ordering by Amazon, what do I have to lose? Even after 4 months of owning the Blue F91 5G.. I am still totally blown away. Let us also mention that I ordered this for $230 plus tax... and I almost feel guilty I paid so little. Here is short summary of features that amaze me - Fingerprint reader took a while to set up, but worth it. Phone resumes near instantly, with right hand click on clear button. - Reboot is fast compared to previous phones I owned - Internet surf speed is fast - Daily phone apps, like OfferUp, WinnDixie and banking email apps are quick responsive - I get helpful world news updates from Gmail news automatically - Blu gives you a protective outer cover for free. I usually hate phone covers, but this one is perfect - Weight and large 6.8 inch size is perfect for me (even though my hands are small for a guy) - Charging speed is great, even of charging stands that are not that powerful - One charge can last a full day of use. I drain my battery because I have info apps on all the time. Negatives - sound volume up and down buttons (left side) are positioned too low. I accidentally lower the volume just by normal handling of the phone. I learned to check my volume often. Why didn't Blu realize this? - if you are heavy feature customizer, you will need to Google for support help. The phone is not that user friendly. I struggled with small glitches setting up unique, assigned ring tones and notifications for different apps. Most of the fault lies on the shoulders of the OS, but Blu could have done more to improve on this. Using Google to finding tutorials from other Blu owners solved the issues, but none of the solutions were intuitive. Summary: Blu is a relatively new player that is the best kept secret in the industry. You should also note that Blu is a MIAMI FLORIDA company. Go USA! ... show more

  • Not a dependable phone
I'm coming from a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro which has been a spectacular phone. When I bought the phone it had a beautiful forest green glass back and felt premium all the way. Unpacking the Blu F91 5g with it's plastic back felt quite a bit cheaper to me. However we all put our phones in cases so maybe the plastic back won't bother me so much. I'm not a fan of the case that was shipped with this phone as it's too bulky for me. I prefer the clear and thinner ones that ship with Redmi's and earlier Blu phones (I had a Blu Vivo XL4 that had a beautiful case). That being said, after booting up and turning on the screen I found the screen to be nice and equivelent to my Redmi but larger. Still confortable in the hand. I kinda wanted to go with an Amoled screen this time but for a LCD this one is just fine. Seems to be a bit brighter in sunlight than my Redmi. Overall I find the phone to be pretty fast and smooth. As far as the interface, I don't know why these companies don't sell these phones with the stock Android launcher. My biggest gripe with this phone is the Blu launcher. There is not much customization you can do. And while they let you customize individual icons (which nobody will do) why not at least give us the option to change the shape of all the icons. We are stuck with circle icons here. Adding widgetts to the screen don't fit properly either. Not allowed to make them smaller. Maybe I'm nit picking here but if a company is going to put it's own launcher on the phone, at least make it a good one. You do have the option to install custom launchers but some of the ones that use google feed are a bit buggy on this phone. Hyperian launcher seems to be the one that works best. It's better than my Redmi in this way because with my Redmi if I used a 3rd party launcher I wasn't allowed to use gesture. With this phone you can. There's not much bloatware here which is good. About 4 games, 2 of which I kept cuz they are not bad games (Wordscape and Woodoku). They are easy to uninstall. Some reviews said the last security update was December 2021 but when I installed this in early July 2022 I got two updates, the March 2022 update and then the May 2022 update. Good on you Blu. I highly doubt this phone will ever get Android 12 but if we get security updates for two years consider yourself lucky as Blu has a poor reputation for updates. Its the reason the phone is cheap. A trade off I'm ok with. Just one speaker on this phone at the bottom. It's Ok. It's loud enough. You can enable a loudness switch in the enhanced sound setting. Doing this will make it louder but can tend to distort sometimes with this setting on. Call volume seems fine and people can here me just fine. Fingerprint reader works ok and is fast though with the case on it will sometimes miss it. I don't do face recognition. I use US Mobile which uses TMobile towers. After sim card insertion the phone set it up properly. Something my Redmi doesn't do. 5G Reception is good and fast throughout town. I notice during peak times when there is a lot of network congestion it will slow to a crawl. If I swtich it over to 4Glte it will be fast again. You would think it would automatically switch over to the fastest connection but it doesn't. I won't blame this on the phone as it may just be US mobile throttling 5G at peak times. I can't seem to get Wifi calling to work. No setting for it anywhere. I did get a notification to turn it on but when I tapped on the notification nothing happened. Then I would get the notification again minutes later. The only way to get rid of the notification was to swipe it away. Not sure whats up with that. I don't really care about wifi calling. Volte is better quality anyway. Which brings me to my biggest gripe on this phone. The NFC persistant notification. If you have NFC on which I always do, there is an NFC notification that stays there. I have found no way to get rid of it. The only way to get rid of this is to turn NFC off. This is a MAJOR annoyance and Blu if you read this, please let us turn this off in the next update. What the heck was your thinking here? I happened to have a 5 watt wireless charging pad. The wireless charging works though it is slower than the included wired 18 watt charger of course. A 10 watt charging pad would be twice as fast I would think. Phone does get warm while charging but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm not a photographer but the camera seems fine to me. People wondering where the wide angle camera is don't realize that you just have to zoom out to a negative value for it to show up. It takes good pictures and color looks decent. My biggest gripe is I like to take my photos at 16:9 aspect ratio and this isn't included in the camera app. Only 4:3 and full (20:9). Another design blunder. Using another camera app from the play store and you can take 16:9. I have no problem with the battery life. Gets me through the day and then some with heavy use. 3 days might be an overstatment. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep this phone or not. I had to replace the battery of my Vivo XL 4 after 14 months. So not sure of the longevity here. Redmi phones feel way more premium than this phone. That being said, it's not a bad phone for the money. Blu phones are getting much better. Upgrading to this phone gets me 5G, a bigger screen, wireless charging and a google discovery feed. It's got it's quirks but all phones do and you really can't beat the price. Side note. If you plan on using this overseas like Europe, you may want to check the bands. Europe's most common lte bands are 1,3,7, and 8. None of these bands are on this phone. And I don't see any of the 5G bands used in Europe on this phone either. Seems to be made strictly for the US. Edit: Unfortunately I'm going to have to return the phone. I started getting the same problem I saw someone else have where automatic select network slider just keeps turning on and off non stop. No network at all. I need a dependable phone at work and I can't have things like that happening. If you need something reliable I suggest another brand. Edit 2. I ended up buying the Moto one 5g Ace which I find to be a way more dependable and solid phone. ... show more

  • Dual Sim Dual Standby Metro PCS
I have had the phone for about a week and just got the second line put in and works great. For those of you who have questions this is a DSDS (Dual Sim, Dual Standby) phone and works in the US. It is similar to the new galaxy models and fits 2 nano sim cards, but no SD card with both sim cards. You can do 1 sim and 1 nano also. Dual standby means each number is active and can receive calls on either one at any time. To dial out it will prompt you which sim to dial from as well as text. Great for personal and business phone in one and the quality for the price is good. 128gb storage so SD is not really needed anyway. This phone will work with metro PCS Nano sim cards. Hope this is helpful for anyone wanting to switch to dual sim as I did a lot of leg work and took the chance to see if it would work and it did. ... show more

  • They brought the head phone port back!!!!!
So Far so Good. This is my 4th BLU upgraded phone in the last 7 years I think. My previous BLU Vivo+ is still working, after 4 1/2 years. The battery is going, the usb c port is looser for cords now and the sim card reader doesn't work, but the phone still works. So this new phone is just an upgrade of that one, with 5G. I love these phones, I always get the Flagship of the phones only. The price is RIGHT!!! Never feels cheap. Been I think about 3 weeks now and I have it all set up like my previous phone. Honestly, such a good phone for people on a budget as well. ALLLLL SOOOOO, I didn't realize they brought back the Head Phone jack port. THANK YOU!!!! All so still having the FM radio on it, amazing, always good to have because for emergencies. Now wifi, no cell signal, pop in the headphones as an antenna and got FM Radio. I wish their Tablets were as good or better then these Flagship phones though. Will update if any problems. ... show more
