  • Flagship phone without the flagship price.
Flagship Features Without the Flagship Price I bought this BLU Bold N4 5G for my 15-year-old daughter, and so far, it’s been a home run. The 6.78” curved display looks fantastic, and the small rear display is a surprisingly cool feature for quick notifications and selfies. Performance is smooth and responsive thanks to the 8GB RAM, and with 512GB of storage not typical in this price range. She so much space for photos, apps, and videos without ever worrying about running out. The 50MP camera takes sharp, vibrant photos, and the 16MP selfie camera delivers great results for social media. Battery life lasts all day, and the fast charging is a lifesaver, plug it in for a bit and you’re back in business. NFC support is also a nice bonus, adding modern convenience you don’t always get at this price point. What really sets this phone apart is the value. It comes with a case, charger, and headphones, the accessories most brands stopped including years ago. Running Android 15 right out of the box, it feels modern, fast, and feature-packed. If you want a phone that looks high-end, performs well, and gives you way more than you paid for, this is an easy 5-star choice. ... show more

  • $800 phone for $250
So I'm not a phone geek. I can't tell ya the processesing speed of the chip, or what it means. I can't tell ya the type of OLED screen or where the flux capacitor is or whatever. I'm a dumb fireman, so I'm gonna tell ya how it works for the stuff I use it for. It works great. The GPS screen is fast, and accurate. It doesn't do that stupid spin move in Google maps trying to orient itself for the turn by turn. It doesn't lag when overlapping maps, and the detail is immediately immaculate. It works great with multiple open windows. I can easily switch between screens between maps, and large files such as; ERG, pre hospital protocols, dosaging apps etc. The audio for phone calls is exemplary. I have baseline tinnitus and general hearing loss from years of riding the rigs, and both the external speakers and the phone speakers are loud, and clear. The sensitivity of the screen is next level. Very rarely do I find myself having to retype letters or words because I didn't hit the key just right, which seems to be a persistent issue with other budget phones. The camera is lower end flagship level. A 50mps camera and ability to shoot video in 4K, I mean I'll tell ya, I use the camera for post incident evaluations, car accidents and I use the video for training, and boy you'd thought I'd used an iPhone 15 pro Max top of the line phone. The detail and screen tracking is incredible. The color contrast can get a tad over saturated, but it's an easy enough fix in the editing software if it's that big of a deal. But hey I've used it on fire scenes and the photos have been introduced and accepted as evidence so 🤷♂️ if it's good enough for the courts, it's good enough for me. It streams in 4KUHD with Dolby stereo sound quality with 5g. Audio as stated is very crisp and can cause some feedback at high volumes. Battery life easily last all day while running multiple apps. I started out the day at 5AM at 100%, and with YouTube running in the background, a few texts, some random Google searches, took a couple pictures, GPSd a few calls while running the CAD through the phone, using the hotspot (which also runs at 5g) and doing some light reading, as I lay here in bed at 1024PM it's at 63% and hasn't been on the charger at all. Speaking of charging, the high speed charging system is bananas. 20mins from 1-100. Super useful if you're out and about all day. The NFC was a nice addition and works flawlessly. It operates Android OS so it's compatible with literally everything, and standard ease of use you come to expect from Android OS. My only couple of small nitpicky complaints: The rear facing screen, while a nice touch I feel is overkill considering the added weight and battery usage. Mind you, even at screen brightness at 100% it still barely put a dent in the overall usage but it's still a power eater for little use. They say it's so you can see what you're doing better for selfies or streaming or whatever (allegedly the outward facing camera is better than the one on the home screen) but that doesn't really apply to me, so I don't really care. The curved sides again is a nice touch and is definitely asethicly pleasing, it does make it hard to grip it at weird angles, which when your hands are full and you're trying to look stuff up and the phone is sliding on everything bc the edges are so smooth, makes it a little anoying. Granted this is easily workable with the right phone case, it's still something that needs to be dealt with after market. Overall not a bad purchase for $250-300. The lower end flag ship phones that run $5-800 are on par with the Bold N4. If you're like me and just a working guy and you're just looking for something to just help you through your job, screw around with a few games, watch a few videos, fire off a few emails, take a phone call or two and send some texts this phone more than meets those needs. As I stated this phone is on par with like maybe iPhone 13-14 capabilities for half the price. So if brand name means nothing to you, and you don't care about generic parts vs brand name, this phone is right up your alley. ... show more

  • Excellent value midrange phone
This is an excellent value for the money. It is a midrange phone with a bunch of nice extras. It has a rear display which can be helpful when talking selfies with the rear facing camera. It includes accessories like a protective case, headphones, and a charging cable and adapter for fast charging. The headphones function as an fm radio antenna, which is not frequently found in devices currently. It performs quite well overall. Would definitely recommend it ... show more

  • Decent smartphone, but the Moment App needs to go
I needed a new mid-range/budget-priced smartphone as a replacement for my older flagship Samsung S20 FE and decided to get this Bold N4 smartphone since it was cheaper than a Samsung S20 FE and both have 5G on their smartphones. PROS: 5G connection, 512GB internal storage, 120 hertz of screen refresh rate, 8 GB Ram Memory [24 GB virtual RAM, which I don't use], decent rear camera set up with a telephoto lens also [hard to find on a low-end mid-range smartphone, period], pretty decent video qualities, but no wide lens for video, decent-sized at around 6.8 inches & using OLED display on the front screen, it has a screen protector on it when you purchase this phone [but its a cheap flimsy plastic front screen protector], decent sound qualities when watching videos on this smartphone, fast 65 watt charging, decent battery life and it comes with a clear sturdy phone case for this phone plus the charging cable and charging block also. My smartphone lasts close to 1 full day of mostly emails, texting, reading the news on it and a bit of social media/facebook or You Tube on it. I can get this N4 smartphone fully charged from 10 percent to 100 percent within 1 hour usually. CONS: NO MicroSD card slot for added storage for this N4 smartphone, NO wired headphone jack, it comes with a cheap flimsy plastic front screen protector that I have removed & purchased aftermarket actual glass screen protectors for this phone, tho the built-in fingerprint reader once in awhile has a very hard time reading my fingerprint while having that glass screen protector installed on this N4 smartphone of mine, but it's a periodic issue right now. Rear mini LED display screen I do not use and keep it turned off. The "MOMENT" App is a huge pain in the bootie/A$$ for me. I disabled the Moment App so I do not have to deal with it coming up every single time I get on that smartphone of mine. It sure does come with added "bloatware" too and several times I have deleted every single one of those useless apps they install on my N4 smartphone. I went to MY SETTINGS and then to the APP option and located the MOMENT APP and disabled it right there to stop it from popping up every single time I got on my phone as I use a PIN/Fingerprint for security and that useless MOMENT Application always popped up as soon as I got back on my N4 smartphone, a royal pain for me for sure. Phone call qualities are fine, but not loud enough and most certainly needs a major volume boost so I can hear incoming phone calls while I am taking or answering phone calls on that phone. You can play basic and/or not very graphic intensive games on this N4 phone just fine. I really cannot say if the internal processor in this smartphone will handle more intensive games like Call of Duty, Halo, Wuthering Waves, Delta Force & other similar graphic-intensive games out there at all. I'd check on social media sites or online reviews on this BLU BOLD N4 smartphone to see what they say about game playing on this smartphone for more graphic-intensive games. But as I am much older, all I need in a smartphone is a decent smartphone that takes phone calls and makes phone calls easily, takes pretty good photos & videos, has at least 8 GB of RAM/Memory, 120 Hertz front screen refresh rate and a larger sized front AMOLED display also and sold build quality too. This BLU BOLD N4 smartphone does the job for me just fine. 4 stars. ... show more

  • Blu N4
Easy to setup. Thin and not too heavy. I was able to connect to my carrier with ease due to it being an unlocked gsm device. For the price, it's quite snappy. I've purchased several BLU devices over the years and I always enjoy them. Unfortunately you're not likely going to get any Android update support with these phones, though. The screen is bright, maybe a little too much- but the screen is clear and has a great picture. Camera is mid. It does have a decent zoom but can get pixelated when using it to it's full extent. The rear screen is cool, but honestly I never utilize it. I don't like that I can't turn off the AM/PM on the clock, so I just switched to the 24 hour clock. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it if you're looking for an affordable, fun phone. As other reviews mentioned, there is some bloatware on it, which you can disable and/or remove. ... show more

  • It's a fast phone and the fingerprint reader works great
A really nice phone for the money. How many phones out there offer what the n4 does? A case and screen protector installed , a fast wall charger and earbuds. It performs well and doesn't overheat. The camera's are just average but you do have a telephoto and wide angle lense that's all I need plus it has a nice large curved main screen and it's plenty bright. The small screen on the back comes in handy. The biggest negative to me is it's only water resistant and not waterproof but for me that's okay to. I can't say any bad stuff about it for the price ... show more

  • Is it just me??
UPDATE: I'm down to settling a silent alarm on the native clock app before my regular alarm goes off. So annoying! Worse though is that doesn't always work. There are a couple other apps that are also glitchy on this device but work fine on others phones in my family. For example Facebook messenger does not always notify with sound even though if is set too, and bubbles to not always show up. I am a fan of Blu and have been for several years, but I feel this phone is gaslighting me. All of a sudden I'm wondering if I am sleeping through alarms because it went off yesterday but not today or wondering if I just didn't hear the notification because it went off and hour ago but I didn't hear a notification 5mins ago. UPDATE: The first alarm of the day will not go off unless you wake up the phone in some way prior, if you are using the Google clock app and not the one pre-installed. 1) if you have a smart watch that uses wearOS you need the Google clock app for proper functionality 2) the native app has reduced features. So close to perfect for me... First the battery life is unreal. I am an average user not a gamer or anything but am regularly on my device all day, long calls, streaming podcast, etc. and haven't gotten the battery below 70%. It looks nice, function very well, the camera is excellent particularly for the price. I am not getting any lag or hesitation on the screen or fingerprint scanner. It also has a lot of nice features that make it very fun to use. I think the back screen is interesting but more of a novelty to me . If you take a lot of selfies then it will be awesome. It allows you to use the better cameras and see what you are doing. Also if you lay your phone on its face, and have good eyes you can read your notifications but I have to pick it up to read them so not useful to me. To use the alarm feature you have to use the native app where I prefer google version so I don't really use that. I do use the timer though and it is nice for a quick check of the time. The notification volume is quite low. I had to boost my standard ringtone to accommodate for the low volume. Call volume and quality is great. I dislike the curved screen. It comes with screen protector but that isn't going to last forever and then what? I am relegated to trusting a "high quality, guaranteed to fit, fingerprint scanner will work" claim. I am a huge fan of glass screen protectors and the fact that I can't get a good one for this curved screen is so annoying Overall love this phone, feels good in hand and is fun to use but if I can't get the alarm issue figured out and I can't sync them with my watch I'm going to be very disappointed. ... show more
