  • Great for correcting nutrient deficiencies
Size: Quart (32 oz)
This is the only general micronutrient supplement I ever buy. I first got it when my younger plants started showing signs of nutrient deficiencies outside of NPK nutrients. My plants showed signs of recovery after one watering and a few foliar applications. Some people might not need it, especially if they are growing in properly enriched soil, but I have water that's softened at a municipal level. As a result, some minerals have been removed from my water; this product helps restore those and add others that are good for all plant growth stages, from new plants to blooming plants. Use is simple. Just measure out however much I want to add to my 2-gallon can, dump it in, add water, and water my plants as usual. No worrying about presoaking anything or lots of stirring to mix in powders. (for simplicity, I use a different fertilizer bottle's cap to measure out ~8ml when filling my watering can) The bottle cap/lid and recommended measurements have changed from the previous bottle I bought. The ingredients list is the same, as well as the concentration percentages of the minerals. They also separate the use guidelines/directions differently between them. I'll only mention the amount differences. New: watering can: 1tsp (2.5-5ml)/gallon Hose end sprayer: 1tsp (5ml) approx 1:750 ratio Foliar spray: 2-4tsp (10-20ml)/gallon Old: Grow phase: 2-4ml/gallon Bloom phase: 3-5ml/gallon Sprayer instructions: 20-40ml/gallon Not sure why they changed the amounts, but it's helpful to know the ratio for using with a hose end sprayer. Overall, great value for money in my opinion. ... show more

  • didn't burn plants
Size: Quart (32 oz)
I grew about 10 tomatoes outdoors in 10 or 15 gallon fabric pots this year. I used a calcium rich fertilizer when I started the plants because I knew that nutrients wash away in pots and aren't replenished and calcium loss can cause blossom end rot. I have had it before. The foliage looked good but when they set fruit, almost all except cherry tomatoes showed end rot, some fairly serious. I assume the fertilizer wasn't concentrated enough or washed away to quickly, I bought the cal mag supplement, mixed it 15-20ml to a gallon water and sprayed it on the entire plants in the evening. I live in a hot dry location and was worried about burning the plants so tested it on one plant first. When it didn't burn that one I did the rest. I continued treat the plants, sparying in the evening, about once a week. The end rot did go away, I can't actually confirm the product did it. We had gone through a very hot spell well into the 90s most days and with 20% humidity when I first noticed the problem. The weather let up a bit at the same time I stopped seeing the end rot. I might have changed the watering a bit too. It's possible it would have gone away on it's own. But I continue to spay once a week, it hasn't come back, and we have had some hot days since. So it didn't hurt the plants and maybe it helped. ... show more

  • This Cal Mag prevents blossom end rot on bell peppers in a week
Size: Quart (32 oz)
I have several bell pepper plants in a large square container. They are way too close so I will have to thin them out even though they are producing peppers. Blossom end rot started on several of the larger bell peppers. After using Cal_Mag and some liquid fertilizer it appears the rot has stopped appearing on new peppers. This container had some of my best soil mixture: worm castings, kelp meal, pearlite and some good container soil. Probably the PH is still a little off also. My other in ground raised beds have plenty of home kitchen compost so those tomatoes are blemish free and one cherry tomato is about 8 foot long now. ... show more
