I received this product this morning and put it on right way and stunned as I went through my work day how well it helped to alleviate the worst of my sciatica pain. I’ve had two series of steroid shots last six months, but still left with significant pain and OTHER belts I’ve tried were bulky, did not sit well over the sciatic area & being short waisted rode up uncomfortably under/near my chest area. So far, this one being thinner & shaped a little differently, sits exactly where I need the support & compression. When putting the belt on, ensure it sits slightly UNDER your bellybutton & sitting on hips. It should NOT be worn at waist level on or above your bellybutton, as it won’t sit on the sciatic nerve area of your lower back where you want relief. OK- I am big. Let's just call it that. Im 5'10" and almost as round as I am wide. The XL fit me, with some stretching- so long as I place it correctly. This is not your Walmart/CostCo work-assist belt. It's not meant to go around your waistline, but below, where your actual hips sit. That said, if I hold one end (after releasing the secondary straps to dangle) and bring the other around to it I can get them to overlap in the front and stay secure. Then it's just a matter of tightening the secondary straps. It's not a fix-all, but it does provide support that I am missing, especially since I work from home 10 hrs a day and sit- a lot. This does not provide lower back support like some of you may be thinking of or looking for- its meant to compress your hip areas, down around the lower sacral. If you have a chronic back injury you know what I'm talking about- if not, this is for where your tailbone starts before going down to your buttocks. However, many of you with chronic back injuries may have been looking for support for higher-up than you may actually need. My low back injury is L5-S1 and a bulged L3-4. The L5-S1 causes the most issues for me with long-standing, getting up and down in chairs, etc. Your mileage may vary. I have found this very helpful for pain relief in my hips and down into my legs. I have another support belt that I purchased that is heavier, does not fit under belt line very well, but does fit under baggy shirts. It also fits more conventionally, like a girdle, that some people may be thinking of when they are looking for a support belt. This is a five inch wide adjustable elastic band. It provides some abdominal support but nothing for back, SI, or hip. I am a 230 pound man and so I ordered the large one. It is too large for me although it's adjustable and so I can cinch it in a lot. May work for some people but it's not doing much for me. Returning it. ... show more

This belt is great for relieving my sacroiliac regions (left & right) in my lower back. The only problem I had was the belt would roll at the edges in front, but that was due to my "Dunlop" waistline (my belly done lopped over my belt), which is not the fault of the belt. This product did not work for me. My hip pain was still there and it did nothing for me but of course I’m 61 and ache and pains are starting to kick in at my age. I’m not sayin it won’t work for you, it just didn’t work for me and I returned it.
