Description

The hottest college football safety in the nation just asked me to be his fake girlfriend. And I just asked him to take my virginity.Clay Johnson has the abs of Adonis and the deadly smirk of the devil, himself. There’s hardly a day he’s not headline material during football season, and never a day he isn’t a bullseye target for every girl on campus. He used to be the easiest of all the players for me to wrangle as the Public Relations Coordinator, but after a nasty breakup with his high school sweetheart, he’s a mess. And a complete pain in my ass.We meet to discuss his behavior and review media relations standards. But when he witnesses how I fall to pieces in front of my guitar- toting crush, his wheels start turning. And he cooks up this absurd plan.He helps me get noticed. I help him make his ex jealous. All by pretending to be in a relationship. What he doesn’t realize is that this bookworm is a virgin, and far from versed in seducing a musician. So, to sweeten the deal, I convince him to help me — not just to get my crush’s attention, but to knock his socks off once I have it.But the more I come unraveled at the hands of Clay Johnson, the more trouble I have discerning what’s fake and what’s undoubtedly real — particularly, the way my heart flutters every time that breathtaking man touches me.We set the rules. We put the safeguards in place. But they say rules are meant to be broken. They probably should have added that hearts are, too. Blind Side is a spicy fake dating college sports romance with "lessons" and opposites attract. It is a complete stand-alone. Read more

  • A steamy fake-dating sports romance? Sign me up!
I want to give a big thank you to Kandi Steiner for hosting a giveaway in her Facebook group, Kandiland, that I won and received and e-arc of Blind Side to review. REP: TW + CW: discussion of rehab, alcohol/drug addiction, blackmail Tropes: fake-dating, sports romance, hero falls first, virgin heroine, jock hero Similar Books: The Deal by Elle Kennedy, The Perfect First by Maya Hughes, The Relationship Pact by Adriana Locke, When I won the arc giveaway, I did the biggest happy dance and squealed a little. Another Kandi Steiner book in my hands? HECK YEAH! Every book that I have read by her has 4 stars and above. She just never disappoints! Ever since I discovered her books last year, I have been down a rabbit hole trying to read her backlist. Let's just say it has been THE BEST TIME. I originally planned to take my time with reading Blind Side because I wanted to savor every bit of it but its Kandi Steiner, who am I kidding? I was not expecting to be just as OBSESSED with the main characters as I was with Fair Catch but, here I am!! Clay and Giana just found a spot in my heart and set up shop right next other characters written by Kandi Steiner. Blind Side is set in the same world as Fair Catch (I'm not too sure if this would be considered a sequel or a companion. Both books can be read on their own.) and follows the perspective of two characters, Clay and Giana. Clay is one of the most popular football safety players in the country and Giana works as Public Relationships Coordinator for the team. Clay is used to be the easiest for Giana to work with but after a devastating break up from his girlfriend, Clay is cold and not in the mood for any of it. As much as Giana would love to work with other players and move on, she needs Clay. When they meet up to discuss a new strategy, Clay takes notice of how Giana melts around her crush and comes up with a plan that could help the both of them. Clay and Giana will fake-date in public to get his ex jealous and running back and her crush to notice her. Also, he'll stop being difficult when she needs him for the media. The plan starts off simple but quickly becomes complex when the feelings Clay and Giana have change and Giana asks Clay to take her virginity so she knows what to do when she's with her crush. Kandi's Steiner writing has continuously gotten better over time. I swear each book I read is better than the last. Blind Side is also the spiciest book Kandi has written. I am very curious to see if that trend will continue or if there will be a surprise extra spicy book every once in awhile. In this one, Clay and Giana's chemistry was obvious from the jump. They already have an established friendship but there was room for them to build and grow that friendship. Having both perspectives allows readers to see that growth from both the character's eyes and how their motivations have changed. At first, I was skeptical of this because sometimes the POVs blend together or I really enjoy one character more. But Kandi succeeded in keeping me interested in both characters with every chapter. I wanted to know who was going to fall first and how the romance was going to play out. Who was going to cause the big conflict in the third act? Who will commit first? Giana just wants to do well with her career and get this guy to like her but she's a little lost in the romance category. She reminded me a lot of me during my past relationships because I felt LOST. I loved reading about her and watching her grow. Pet names like the one Clay has for her (Kitten) normally makes me want to gag but you know what, PURRRRRR. I was eating this up! Where are these men when I was going on dates with people from my college?? With all that being said, I was a bit underwhelmed with the ending. If I were Giana, Clay would have to GROOOOOVEEELLL. The grand gesture was cute but I think Clay would need to put in some more work to repair that damage afterwards. I know Giana's heart took a hit and realistically, would probably have some trust issues from him. The way he handled the situation that caused the big breakup was not my favorite. I understand wanting to help and protect your mother but where would any of that gotten him? I did not see that playing out well for him in the end. Overall, Blind Side by Kandi Steiner is a fantastic read. It is definitely one of the best she has written and is going high on my tier ranking. If you are looking for a steamy fake-dating sports romance where the male love interest falls first and keeps you on your toes, this is a good one to check out! It will get you laughing, smiling, and hurting all within a few pages. You'll be dying for more (there's books set in the same university if you do end up looking for more!!!) 5/5 stars, I can not wait for the next one! If you're looking for exclusive information about what Kandi is writing or up to, join her Facebook group, Kandiland! Also, I heard there is a hockey romance book in the works?? Say less. Once the preorder link and "Want to Read" button is available, I'm on it! ... show more

  • Blindside
In Blind Side, Steiner delivered an adorable, fun and steamy fake dating romance, guaranteed to make you swoon with its flirtatious and sexy banter, a swoon worthy hero and a shy and smart heroine. Blind Side is the second book in Kandi Steiner's Red Zone Rival series. This instalment tells Clay and Gianna's story. Clay Johnson dreams of two things, making it to the NFL and marrying his high school sweetheart. Currently, he is at the top of his game in college, enjoying his long distance relationship with his girl and looking forward to the day she would enroll at North Boston University, where he attended college. Then the unthinkable happened. She broke up with him, shattering one half of his dream. Giana is the PR assistant for the football team. She has a major crush on a musician, but has no clue how to gain his attention. On learning of Giana's crush, Clay concocted an elaborate plan. A plan where he teaches Giana to land the guy of her dreams and she helps to make his ex-girlfriend jealous. Sounds simple, but then the pretending became a reality. Blind Slide was an adorable, fun, emotional and steamy read which grabbed my attenti0n from the first page. There were so many things to love about this story. The characters, the banter and the romance all combined had me glued to the pages. Clay makes the perfect book boyfriend, which makes him a keeper. When he turns on the charm, no one was immune a fact to which Gina can testify. He read her romance books to garner pointers on her tastes and he went out of his way let her know she was special. I loved his humility and his willingness to be there for those he loves, however he needs to learn to set boundaries so not to be taken disadvantage of. Giana's shy and sweet personality endeared to almost everyone with whom she came in contact with. She's pretty good at her job as a PR assistant despite her sense of intimidation when in the presence of the footballers. A loner by nature, which made her list of friends totally non-existent. She showed tremendous growth throughout the story. Giana and Clay were absolutely fantastic together. I loved their dynamics and had fun watching their relationship develop. Their feelings for each other grew slowly. Perfectly timed, which made them believable as a couple. They shared an intense chemistry, and, without a doubt, they belonged together. Without realizing it, they brought out the best in each other. If only they would look beyond the surface and recognize what’s been staring them in the face. Giana and Clay’s interactions with each other were fun, sexy and laced with lots of emotions. They both have their share of issues, with Clay’s issue being the biggest of all. Poor guy didn’t know how to handle it and the blow back almost damaged his relationship with Giana. Also, his refusal to communicate with her about said issues only helped to make the situation worse. Now I wasn’t a big fan of the conflict introduced in the last quarter of the story. The backlash and the impact it had on Giana tore me up. It pained me to see her go through all of that hurt all due to selfish individuals, which was undeserving. Clay’s grand gesture at the end, although cheesy, made up for it. If you like contemporary sports and new adult romance with witty humor, the Blind Side will make the perfect addition to your reading list. I am looking forward to reading Quarterback Sneak, which is ready and waiting on my kindle. ... show more
