Top Amazon Reviews

  • Quality and security
Size: Left Hand Style: Streamlight TLR 1 & 2 Color: Black
This holster is incredible. I have gone through many holsters, this one is by far the best one I’ve ever owned. They really thought of everything! Super secure, the design is aesthetically appealing, it’s very functional and adjustable. It’s incredibly versatile and dynamic the draw speed is fluid. The mechanisms fell well made. I have zero complaints! This deserved a review. ... show more

  • Gets 5 for fitting and working good
Size: Right Hand Style: Streamlight TLR 1 & 2 Color: Black
Now... it's bulky for my Ruger 380 Security but it's not really made for concealment. The gun itself is basically the same size as the Ruger Security 9 Compact. I ain't hiding anyone in this puppy based on the clothes I wear, unless I start wearing trench coats. The bottom of it does look kind of like a weird battery pack or something and not obviously a gun if it's peeking from under your jacket so I guess that's something. And again - never supposed to be a "you can't find the gun hidden on me!" holster was it. That said, the pistol STAYS PUT and the button draw seems easy and intuitive. So that's a good compromise of safety and drawability I think. It feels nice in jeans with the paddle installed. I even had a "low sit" on a very low stoop wearing this and it was still comfortable. Again, it's pretty big but what did I expect when I added a TRL-1? You're gonna want that at night or in your dark house though, aren't ya. So I'm happy with it overall. Just don't expect to surprise anyone that you're strapped up... unless you wear some hella baggy clothes with which you can still reasonably quickly access the gun. ... show more

  • Surprisingly well thought out
Size: Right Hand Style: Streamlight TLR 1 & 2 Color: Black
I decided to try this holster based on a desire for more of a universal fit holster that doesn't limit me to a single handgun. I was using "Surplus Special" nylon drop leg and MOLLE holsters for that purpose but something with a bit more speed in the draw is what I was after. I finally found a use for my old Streamlight TLR-1 that I've had laying around for years. My initial impressions of the Blackhawk Omnivore holster were favorable except the holstered handgun would wobble a bit which I actually expected since its a universal design. Little did I know just how much thought Blackhawk put into the Omnivore. In the package I found some other parts that had me scratching my head. I finally broke down and read the instructions. The holster came with spacers which help aid in providing stability to the holstered firearm so they help the holster wrap around it a bit more to ensure it stays in place. I don't know if Blackhawk always included these spacers or if they were added after feedback from the end users of the Omnivore complaining about their handgun rattling around. With that it also has passive friction retention so it is a true Level II retention holster and the different size thumb release pads are a well thought out touch. For a sub 50 dollar holster that fits over 150 different handguns including my FN 509 Tactical with optic, I'm honestly impressed. I only give four stars as I haven't had the chance to test it at the range yet. I didn't have high expectations for this holster so I was pleasantly surprised just how much went into designing it. ... show more

  • A left hand light bearing holster that fits a bunch of guns?!? Amazing!
Size: Left Hand Style: Streamlight TLR 1 & 2 Color: Black
As a lefty it's very difficult to find holsters. If it's a common gun like a Glock or a M&P, no problem. If it's for something out of the mainstream, good luck. My first concern was that it would wobble. Second concern was it's size. I'm happy to report that neither is an issue. The holster comes with spacers that help to fit your gun. Most of my pistols are full size or compact, so the Large spacer was the most universal. For my railed 1911s, I would need the Medium spacer. The spacers are removable without a fancy tool so that was a plus. The firearm is guided in by two slots molded inside the holster. It rides on the gun's picatinny rail. The retention hook does not attach to the trigger guard (like most). Instead, it also rides the picatinny rail and is retained by the weapon light. I do have a concern about long term wear on the light, but only time will tell. The retention device is made of the same material as the holster (plastic) so the wear n' tear on the weapon light should be minimum. This particular holster is designed for the Streamlight TRL-1 and TRL-2. I'm also using the Olight PL-2 Valkyrie and Olight PL-Pro. They have a very similar footprint as the Streamlight TRL-1. Note: It's not perfect when using the Olight, but for a shooting range, it'll be fine. Retention is not perfect so I recommend ONLY using the TRL-1 or TRL-2 for defense or duty. OH! It fits with a MRDS! As for the size, it's just slightly thicker than my other light bearing holsters but not as wide. That's a fair compromise. The thumb retention is solid. All my guns snap in/out without binding. It comes with both the belt and paddle but I'm going to mount it to the "Blackhawk Jacket Slot Duty Belt Loop". This will create a lower ride for me. I will need to find longer screws, though. I emailed Blackhawk and they are sending me longer screws. I'm also planning on mounting this to an aftermarket thigh rig. I'll just need to drill new holes in my rig to accommodate the Blackhawk screw pattern. Easy Peasy. I'm looking forward to put this holster through its paces. ... show more
