Description

After wooing stewardess Yoriko (Chieko Matsubara, Tokyo Drifter), war photographer Hondo (Akira Kobayashi, Battles Without Honor and Humanity) sees her kidnapped by a team of deadly female assassins who use vinyl records as weapons. Investigating her whereabouts, Hondo uncovers a conspiracy to steal a buried stash of WWII-era gold. Soon he must dodge go-go dancing ninjas and chewing-gum bullets to save Yoriko, whose family secret is tied to the hidden treasure. Every bit as stylish and inventive as the wildest works by his mentor Seijun Suzuki, Yasuharu Hasebe's spy spoof is a gaudy 1960s pop delight that ranks with the likes of Joseph Losey's Modesty Blaise and Mario Bava's Danger: Diabolik!SPECIAL FEATURESHigh-Definition digital transferUncompressed mono PCM audioAudio commentary by Jasper SharpArchival interview with director Yasuharu HasebeTrailerOptional English subtitlesReversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Time TomorrowLimited edition booklet featuring new writing by Japanese cinema expert Chris D.

Sublime film
It's good to watch with other kung fun movies. Classic.

Funky Go Go Fun
I’m a big fan of Branded to Kill and this film is very similar in tone. The vivid color choices are fun (like in Tokyo Drifter) and the somewhat wacky story unfolds in a very entertaining way. The story is actually pretty solid and the ending is quite touching for a film that borders on absurdist neo noir. There are even a few surreal moments that reminded me of techniques later used in Hausu. There is so much to enjoy about this really unique film. If you enjoyed any of the films I mentioned you’re going to want to own this film. ... show more

One of the coolest movies ever
This was just wild fun of a time. This better than most 60's Bond films. Radiance makes very high quality picture and sound which really makes this movie stand out more.

Such a great, fun movie!
How to start... first, lots of kidnappings in this film. It's a really fun, crazy film. The use of color in this movie is well done and different. The movie starts with a reporter meeting a stewardess on a flight back to Japan. They go out to dinner and she confides in him that her father left a treasure that she is not sure where it is. The "Black Tight Killers" are a group of women who are attempting to retrieve the treasure; they are in competition with a yakuza gang, who are also looking for the treasure. That's the setup. Give it a watch with an open mind, and I am sure you will enjoy! ... show more

Visual Tour De Force
Paying homage to film noirs and musicals this is a very stylized film where the lighting schemes, art direction and costuming all worked together… well worth the watch if you are a visually driven person
