I was looking for a basic black tie when I saw this one and went ahead and got it. It arrived nicely packed in a cardboard box. Inside were the tie and the hanging hook for it. The box was easy to recycle so I like that. The tie itself measures the advertised size of a little under 2 inches wide and about 56 inches long. I'm about 6 ft tall and the length fits me just fine. Considering how thin it is in width I probably wouldn't wear it to anything too formal like weddings, or a serious business meeting. However, for more casual occasions, perhaps a semi-formal party or to a graduation, this tie would be very appropriate. The material is shiny, and doesn't have any loose threads. The coloring is even. It does look nice overall. However, the tie is quite thin in width when it comes to overall appearance. The pictures that show the tie by itself in the included images look accurate. However, the pictures that show them on models seem to be a little off because they make the tie seem wider than it really is. This is particularly noticeable just below the knot at the neck where the images clearly make it seem wider than it is in reality. I was torn on whether to take a point off for this. However, the tie does measure the claimed length and width so I didn't. These days it is hard to get anything useful for under five bucks. The fact that this tie is under five bucks is nothing short of amazing value. Overall I'm satisfied and recommend it as a basic black tie, but keep the width in mind.

This black tie is very thin. It feels like a folded handkerchief. It is made of nylon or polyester and far from the fancy silk ties with Italian designs. But when you wear it, it stays and does its job. I am a black tie driver. My tie is always pinched by seatbelts, gets dust on it, and gets wet when washing my car. So I don't need those fancy expensive ties and this one is very satisfying my needs. It is priced reasonably so when it gets dirty or wrinkled badly, I can replace it without big money to spend. Of course if you're going for hot date, don't wear this, you look kinda cheap.

The measurements listed in the description are accurate, but the product photos are misleading. This tie is much skinnier than it appears in the images. The photos show a more standard-width tie, but what you actually receive is a very slim, skinny-tie style. If you are specifically looking for a skinny tie, this may work for you, but anyone expecting the width shown in the pictures will likely be surprised. In terms of positives, the fabric itself feels nice and smooth, and the length is good. It reaches appropriately and doesn’t feel short or awkward when worn, which I appreciated. However, there are some construction issues that bring this down for me. The keeper loop on the back of the tie is only stitched down at the center, not along the sides, which makes it very loose. Because of that, it doesn’t hold the tail of the tie securely and doesn’t stay as neat as it should during wear. Overall, this isn’t a terrible tie, but the misleading photos and the loose keeper loop make it hard to fully recommend. Clearer images and better stitching on the loop would significantly improve this product.

I am unfortunately in a suit multiple days a week for work. So I always have my eyes out for cheap ties since for me that is always what wears out the most when it comes to my dress clothes. That's why this little guy caught my eye. As far as the quality goes, it's not bad. Honestly it's thicker then a lot of my other ties. The silk like material is pretty thick. The material doesn't want to shift around like some of my other ties. I generally do a half Windsor knot on my ties. As thin as this tie is I was surprised that my tie knot wasn't to thin. My tie also didn't want to shift as I was knoting it which is nice. So all and all, it's decent quality. The one and only problem with this tie is how thin it is. It is very, very thin. I honestly think this would be more appropriate for a child then an adult. Even the overall length is probably more appropriate for a child. It does work though and it looks pretty nice. Just be aware it's very thin. For this price though it's definitely worth it, especially when you compare it to the absurd prices ties can sell at.

So this is an 80s-style skinny tie. Like, think Devo back in the day. While it's a whole lewk on its own, I don't know if this is going to look terribly current, super retro-hip, or just super out-of-touch. My son loved it, but he was wearing it to an "80s night" event, so...take that for what it's worth. The tie is made of nice silk-like material (it's not real silk) and was easy to tie. It looks nice with a dress shirt. It is quite long, which is great for folks with larger necks.

My husband sings in a choir that requires a black tie. This one is a skinny tie - quite a bit thinner than the ones he normally wears. However, this will serve as a great back up tie in case he forgets/loses/ruins his normal one. I think the size would be great for a young gentleman. Quality looks fine. It feels a little lower on quality but looks just fine.
