  • Excellent for cutting boards, pizza peels & wood-handled knives; thick, rich & EZ to use...
This is an excellent conditioner for my cutting boards, wood-handled knives and pizza peels. Years ago, I had a nice cutting board that I didn't take care of properly, and it ended up getting dried out and eventually splitting. I learned my lesson and ever since then, I treat all of my wooden kitchen-ware once a month so it is easy to remember. It doesn't really take very long and it has really paid off -- I have many cutting boards in various sizes and different types of wood and they all have a smooth feel and look great. I haven't had a cutting board split or develop a rough surface in years. I also have quite a few vintage(y) knives that I purchased when I got married a long time ago. A few of them are a bit the worse for wear, but many of them still look brand new even though they are 40+ years old. And my walnut and beech pizza peels! They dry out so easily and look faded and a few minutes spent conditioning them really brings out the rich beauty of the wood. I've heard of this brand, but somehow have never tried it. I'm happy with the brand I usually use, but this one is even thicker and richer. It goes on very easily and there is really no mess. So, now I will use both brands -- my usual brand for quick maintenance whenever and this one for heavy-duty treatment. This conditioner is very thick and feels like a syrupy gel. It goes on easily and is easy to spread around. I just use my hand to apply it, and it doesn't feel sticky and just sinks in to dry wood. I use the included cloth to wipe away any excess (there usually isn't much) and give the wood final polish. The conditioner washes off my hands easily. In fact, I just used this to restore a fairly large wooden cutting board that my husband likes to use for grilling. He keeps it outside with his BBQ equipment and sometimes I forget about it so it doesn't get the monthly treatment I give my kitchen items. The board isn't too far gone, but it has developed a slight curvature and it no longer rests flat on the counter. The surface has gotten slightly rough, plus there is a small crack beginning at one end. It was a beautiful board made of inlaid wood but the colors had gotten pretty dull, too. I made sure the board was clean and dry and then applied this conditioner to the upper surface (the one with a well), waited for it to absorb and then applied some more just a little bit at a time until wouldn't absorb any more. It looked so much better immediately, but I weighted it down with a heavy glass punchbowl and left it overnight and then repeated the process. There was just a tiny bit of excess conditioner to wipe away. Then I did the sides and the opposite surface. It looks almost as nice as it did originally and it lies flat and the crack isn't as noticeable. A small investment in time, money and effort to save a rather pricey cutting board. This si so easy to use and the price is very reasonable. The microfiber cloth is thick and soft and doesn't feel as if it is absorbing all of the conditioner, leaving none on the board ... show more

  • Nice
This is a nice butcher block conditioner. Easy to apply and use. My butcher block was getting dry and worn. It soaked this up nicely and is looking back to being in great shape. I liked how this turned out even better than when I just use mineral oil on it. Happy with this product. Looking forward to using it more often. ... show more

  • Nourishes & Protects Your Fine Food Grade Wood
A very good product to help restore and protect all of your food grade wood surfaces. From an out and out butcher's block to your wooden forks and spoons. I'm even considering using this on my wooden coffee table just to give it a good resurfacing. Works great on my wooden counter tops to help treat wear and tear while nourishing the quality of the wood itself. Will also extend its life. Love seeing how the light works with this once it's all cleaned up and treated. It just reflects right off the surface and looks like new again. Very clean and it's food safe. Do allow a few hours afterwards, especially for table and countertops, just to give it time to fully soak up and cure. A very good overall product made for every kitchen and beyond. ... show more

  • I used this on my cutting board and there was an immediate improvement.
Black Swan Distributors - Howard Butcher Block Conditioner (12 oz) & Non-Abrasive Microfiber Cleaning Cloth (15x15 in) - Beeswax, Carnauba Wax & Mineral Oil - For All Food-Safe Wooden Surfaces First impressions: Nice bottle full of block conditioner, it’s slightly yellow and seems a bit lumpy on delivery. The bottle says to shake it well. The cloth is pretty large. Ready to use. Installation/setup: Shake well and apply to your cutting board or butcher block, let it absorb for a bit then rubbing off any excess for best results. Final thoughts: I used this on my wooden cutting board, it had gotten a little faded and dry from use. I used it once, letting it soak in for a bit, then wiping off a little excess with the included cloth. There was immediate improvement, leaving my board looking like it did when I bought it. This was just what it needed and I’m glad I got it. ⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality. ⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend. ... show more

  • Effective
Tried this on one of my older bamboo cutting boards. It immediately looked like new. Doesn't smell like anything, which is a plus. Looks clean, feels clean. I like it. Only interesting thing of note is some of the directions. The bottle advises you to shake it up before using. This stuff is a comparatively thick gel. It doesn't shake. I tried. It also advises if possible to let it sit overnight. I didn't actually note any difference after leaving it overnight. It may need to be washes of excess because, though I wiped it off as best I can, you can still feel a little bit of the conditioner still when touching it. Maybe that's as intended? I don't know. ... show more

  • Great companion to keep your wood cutting board maintained
On my first solid wood cutting board years ago, I didn't realize the maintenance needed to care for it. Now with a new block and conditioner, i'm able to preserve the quality and lifespan of pricier wood cutting boards. Big necessity if you own or want to own a wooden cutting board.

  • Great cutting board conditioner
I've been using food grade mineral oil to condition my cutting board but this is much better. This is easy to control without making a mess and gives the boards a nice sheen.

  • Best butcher block conditioner
This Howard butcher block conditioner is the best brand I've tried. I have a large kitchen island with butcher block top and this keeps it looking great. It's very convenient and a good value that it comes with the cloth to apply it. The conditioner is easy to use and doesn't have a significant odor. ... show more
