We saw some of the negative reviews of pepper grinders, and this one was included. However... We were delighted to find that the negatives did not apply to our unit. It is beautiful: we now display on our kitchen counter. Works in our hands just fine. Use it to grind pepper onto our evening salad every day. We like coarse-ground black pepper on either Italian or Ranch dressing. It has no problem producing all grades of grind, from fine to very coarse.

Nice mill, not too small or big. Feels good in your hand, not "cheap feeling" You can grind super fine to almost cracked consistency. The only thing I had to get used to is not accidentally turning the adjustment knob with my palm while griding.
