Amazon invited me to review this as part of the Vine program. We agree it does not stretch so it almost certainly doesn't have spandex. It seems like a woven polyester fabric, perhaps with some cotton if the other part of the content description is to be believed. It is definitely lightweight. We got two yards of black. The weave is closeknit and opaque at two thicknesses, with some light transmission but not see through with one thickness.     • Not stretchy!

I don’t have a lot of good to say. The fabric is absolutely not stretchy. It is soft, but it is also thin. I only got this because I thought it would have some stretch to it. It was accurately measured, and the color is accurate to the picture. Not sure what to do with it now.

This fabric is described as slightly stretchy, but I'm having trouble detecting any stretch at all. A lot of my clothes have 4% or 5% spandex, and I'm familiar with how just a little bit of spandex provides quite a bit of stretch. So when this was described as 8% spandex, I had a pretty good idea what to expect. However, this really surprised me as I really can't detect any stretch at all. I still find this useful, because fabric with stretch is more difficult to measure and cut. I'm using this to teach my daughter to sew her own skirt, and while it would have been nice to have stretchy fabric, this is easier for a beginner to work with. It's not particularly soft, but it's very lightweight and has a nice drape to it. The color is as expected and exactly as pictured. Because of the rough edges, I have to subtract about an inch of usable width on each side. So when planning my project, I have to keep in mind that the fabric is closer to 58 inches wide. I think the value is still ok, as long as you know not to expect stretch. ... show more

This is pretty good polyester fabric for the price. I got 2 yards of it it in black. It comes neatly folded. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to make with this yet. This is currently $13.99, and so it comes to about $7 a yard. That is a pretty good value. I haven't purchased fabric by the yard in years. I used to sew a long time ago, and I recently got out my sewing machine and want to get into sewing again. ... show more

I'm currently working on my Halloween costume and needed some white fabric in a good size that wasn't too heavy. This works great for that. The size is accurate and as described, it is slightly (very slightly) stretchy. The edges have these small perforations to them, which I personally don't mind but just something to be aware of. This product is excellent and exactly as described. Comes folded, not rolled, but all minimal creases come out after the a wash. It is indeed breathable, soft, and lightweight. Not see-through. No weird smells. Very pleased with this. Would recommend.
