The high- quality, chemically-inert, low-free silica, and low-dusting BLACK BEAUTY® abrasives are utilized in a wide range of applications. This includes the removal of surface coatings such as rust, paint, and scale, from a variety of substrates, especially structural steel and concrete. Imitation maybe the sincerest form of flattery, but there is only one original BLACK BEAUTY® abrasive. Extra Fine grade BLACK BEAUTY®: Applicable for light blasting that requires a clean surface and minimum anchor profile including brush-off blast or high-pressure water blast systems. Extra Fine Grit 30/60 Blast Media Use Extra Fine to clean surfaces and create a smooth finish, brush-off blast or in a high pressure water blast system Minimum suggested nozzle size of 1/8 in. and under standard blasting conditions will achieve a 1.0-2.6 Mil profile Quantity: 10 lbs. I have an old 1950s pot-belly stove that has been sitting on a porch within yards of saltwater for several decades. It accumulated a complete layer of surface rust- every nook and cranny. Rather than go the chemical route to get it to bare steel, I used this media and it did great even with a cheap-cheap gun but at a steady 120psi. Too big for my little cabinet, so did not recover any of it. Not too fine, pretty true to the grit rating. It took almost exactly the entire 25lbs to do the inside and outside of the stove, I’m guessing about 25 square feet total, and that may be a good gauge- 1lb to 1sq ft. Depends on you gun and pressure. You’ll be wasting this at anything lower than 90psi, definitely not going to work with a compressor that can’t keep up. If you’ve never done sandblasting without a cabinet, you will want a full-face respirator and arm-length gloves. Something hooded pulled over your head too. Seal yourself up like you are about to be kicked out an airlock into space. The sand will get in everywhere and you definitely don’t want to be breathing the dust. ... show more

Used this on an antique steel bed frame to get the years of old paint off so I could give it a fresh new look. This stuff did the trick VERY nicely at around 95lbs using a hand held unit with a hopper on top. It stripped the four or five layers of paint very quickly with not much do over. I have to mention that I used a chemical stripper first then sand blasted the detail work and the corners where a scrapper couldn't be used and overall where the stripper left paint. Used to strip varnish and stain from an oak end table. Worked much better than walnut shells or baking soda. it wasn't finish ready when I was done but it got me most of the way there.

The quantity of 10lbs is actually quite small, less than a coffee can. Should have taken a picture.They fit it in a US Mail envelope if that gives you an idea. Its not a bad product. It seemed to wear out fast. Maybe it is because I got the extra fine. It turned to dust is 30 minutes in the blast cabinet. Still cut but lost its power. Disappointed. Bag of sand was ripped open with sand filling the box. Also sand falling out of the box as I brought it in my home. But did not know until I put the box in my kitchen and their was a trail. I purchased this for my fish tank not knowing that the sand would be so dirty with leaves and other Debris in it. Very disappointing as this was only the first of many purchases I was going to do but after seeing the quality of the product never buy again. ... show more

You really can’t beat this price. I got this stuff to test so i only bought one because my expectations where low due to price but it is so good i bought 4 more bags. I blasted parts for my truck in no time in my little bench top sand blaster and It stripped the paint and rust right off.
