They are sharper than I thought they would be. They have pre-drilled screw holes all along their length, and there are some thin spots where you can cut them to shorter lengths. It will keep the birds from nesting on the top of the downspout bend next to the porch now.

I want to let squirrels away from my potted plants. The spikes can be secured in place to keep the critters from digging up the plants. Screws/nails will need to be installed if the product is not to be used in dirt. Thick/wide mounting tape may work on a smooth clean surface.
