  • MUCH nicer than most betta tanks out there
Size: 4 Gallon Color: BLACK
My little beta was just fine in his 2 gallon cube on my desk, but I really wanted something that looked nicer and was easier to clean. After tracking the price of this 4 gallon tank for probably a year, I finally caught it at a good sale price and ordered it. It takes up just about the same amount of room as the old, smaller tank did, though it is taller, but it looks much nicer and of course gives my little guy more room to explore. I already had a few BiOrb plant pieces, but I have since ordered the BiOrb Flower Garden decor set , and I'm excited to get it and see how that looks. If you're new to BiOrb tanks, switching from a filterless bowl/cube to this one, or haven't had an aquarium before, there are certainly some things you should know and/or buy: 1. The ceramic media substrate (rocks on the bottom) that come with this tank are only about half the amount you actually need to cover the bottom of the tank. Seriously, it doesn't even cover the filter, and it looks pretty bad. I bought an additional 2 Lb Bag Ceramic Media , and that does the trick. 2. While the filter will do its best to keep the tank clean, you'll still need to change out part of the water every so often. A manual cleaner pump will make this job really quick and easy, and while BiOrb does make one, a bunch of other companies make identical ones for cheaper. I grabbed the Sungrow Aquarium Gravel Cleaner Kit . 3. The included air pump creates waaaaaay too much water movement for a betta, though it's great for other fish that aren't as sedentary. I used a binder clip to clamp the tube down and decrease the air entering the tank. Also, the air pump can be a bit loud if it's allowed to rattle up against something or move around at all. Mine's sitting on the carpet, and it's completely silent that way. ... show more

  • great aquarium!
Size: 8 Gallon Color: Black
I have been an active fish keeper for years. We had a new home built this year, and just moved in. I wanted a fish tank that would fit in with the living room décor, and keep happy fish. This was perfect! It came quickly, and was easy to set up. I have a heater in it, and I was able to easily run the heater cord out the hole in top. I purchased one of the biOtube plant sets also. I recommend buying the biOtube polish to! It really makes it easy to keep the outside surface clean and shiny! An Eco Bio block is a good idea to. It will help establish your good bacteria, and get the nitrogen cycle started. It will also help keep the biological filter healthy and reduce the risk of loss of fish. If you are looking for a good quality aquarium with a great look this is it! I think I am going to get the 28 gallon also for my office area in the loft. ... show more

  • You have to be a pro...
Size: 4 Gallon Color: SILVER
I bought this tank a year and a half ago... Since then, it started out good. We added one fish and things were working well, other than the pump being loud. It was a nice night light for my sons room. It didn’t take long before the tank started turning green... I used the monthly kits switching things, the water clarifying solution, buying moss balls to help. Nothing worked, I’ve put so much money into this silly little tank. I’m sad because he really likes having a fish but in that time we’ve gone through three different types of fish. I recently tried to go back at it after having it turned off for a couple weeks and now the pump is broken and won’t turn on. I’m so frustrated. I’m not sure what I did wrong but I’ve never had problems with tanks before. Now I’m at a loss of hundreds of dollars and hope for this tank 😢 ... show more

  • I highly reccommend for all fish enthusiasts!
Size: 4 Gallon Color: SILVER
The media could not be loaded. I wanted to wait a little before reviewing so I could give a good and honest review. I have had a lot of smaller fish tanks as well as a few larger ones and this fish tank is by far the BEST I have ever had. I got it for my Betta fish, Alpha, whom seemed depressed in his smaller betta cube and was beginning to develop fin rot against my best efforts to prevent it. I have had this tank for 2 weeks and within that time my Betta has almost completely recovered from his tail rot. He is so happy and swims around all day instead of just sitting in a corner. Since the BiOrb is curved my Betta can not see his reflection so I never worry about Mirror syndrome and instead of looking for that "other fish" He looks for me :) Other reviewers mention that the air flow is too strong for Bettas, which is true, but if you pinch the airflow just enough you still have enough airflow so the BiOrb can do it's job, but doesn't force your Betta to swim against the current. I pinched the tube and then taped it to the back of the Orb so it would maintain the airflow. The BioOrb does an amazing job keeping the tank clean and fresh. To help the process even more I bought Marimo Moss balls which I thought were a little gimicky at first, but not only do they provide great coverage for my Betta, but they also help maintain the environment in the BiOrb. Within 30 minutes of putting them in my tank they started to produce oxygen bubbles and since I pinched the tube I didn't have to worry about a lack of oxygen for my fish nor plant waste since the Marimo balls don't produce any. I also went to the BiOrb website and bought decorations that they sell for the BiOrb specifically. The decorations are a little expensive, but the quality is so worth it and once you have such quality decor you will never settle for those cheap decorations at petsmart again. I think my only problem with the BiOrb is that you are somewhat forced to buy more for it and it already pricey. To me I think it is worth it to have such a good tank. It does not come with any decorations which is not that big of a deal, but they only give you 1lb of ceramic material for filtration and bacteria growth on the bottom. It offers very little coverage for the bottom of the tank and it is not really enough to weigh down lighter decorations. I bought 2 more 1lb bags of ceramic material and I only needed one more. Overall including the tank, decor from BiOrb and Marimo Moss balls I spent $180. It is bit expensive, but I don't think I will ever need to buy another tank again. Maybe a larger BiOrb for the future when I want more fish again. This is the link to their online store [...] ... show more

  • Uses a different filter for saltwater tanks, and above all, follow instructions
Size: 28 Gallon Color: Silver
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH IT. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES! The instructions are maybe two pages. Easy read. I’ve lost about $800 in fish easily. The standard filter doesn’t work with a SALTWATER aquarium. You must buy a special one they produce for marine tanks. DO NOT USE SAND OR ANY OTHER SUBSTRATE OTHER THAN WHAT THEY GIVE YOU. They give some good advice as well about how many fish to introduce before your biological filter is established. ... show more
