Let me preface this by saying I have no experience with fish tanks except for a $5 basic one when I was a kid. Fast forward (many) years and we were gifted with a few guppies. After seeing that they all survived and the interest remained high for a month, I bought this. I chose this aquarium primarily for it's looks. I have a small apartment and knew this would be in a high traffic area and wanted something that didn't look so clunky. I was impressed with this aquarium kit. I like that it came with everything, including the ceramic media (fake rocks) for the bottom, and a lid for the top. When I say it came with everything, I do not mean the decorations--the 2 pink biOrb fake plants were bought as a pair and the white biOrb sea lily and airplane were purchased separately as well. I read a LOT of reviews before I decide to buy about anything, and this was no exception because I didn't know what I would need. One reviewer suggested the 2 packages of ceramic media was not enough. I'm not sure, but maybe they were building something grand in there because I thought it was plenty. I also read someone complain that it was loud. This thing is QUIET, I promise you--but make sure you don't have the pump against something that could make it rattle. Basically, just keep the rubber feet on it or use a stick-on felt pad. The instructions that came with the biOrb were clear, and the whole setup took maybe 10 minutes, the longest part being rinsing the rocks. I opted for the biOrb plants because I'm foolish and thought they are somehow superior. Maybe they are. But they look about like any fake aquarium plant to me--weighted at the bottom a little so you can bury it and that's about it. Lastly, I know you're supposed to prep your tank for weeks (months?) before adding your fish. Well, I didn't because that seemed excessive for fish that aren't fancy. The biOrb came with a water conditioner and a bacteria packet that you put in a day before adding the fish. I did that and none of my cute lil' fish seemed to have any problem (in fact opposite since they started giving birth :/ right after). I know some of you who are super knowledgable will roll eyes over this review probably because I picked the tank for the wrong reason and didn't do all the fancy show fish things you're supposed to. However, for anyone looking for a nice quality smallish acrylic tank that comes with everything, does a great job filtering, and is an attention-grabber, look no further.     • Biorb tube aquariums are awesome

Very pleased with the aquarium. I previously owned a Biorb tube that was 8 gallons, narrower in diameter and taller than this model. After 5 1/2 years, the old tank developed a slow leak, so I needed to replace it. I like the dimensions of the new tube, which holds more volume at 9+ gallons and should be able to hold more fish. I transferred my live plants and fish to the new tank and everything survived and is flourishing in the new tank. Nothing beats these tubular tanks for viewing fish. Would be a 5 star rating, but I removing one star because the original tank had a leak. ... show more

    • Useless filtration system...Do not waste your time!!

This 9 gallon fish aquarium would have been awesome if the filtration system worked. But point blank, it does not work at all. Changing the filter cartridge weekly doesn’t work. Everything (except the fish) turned yellowish brown within a couple days. Complete waste of my money, time and harmful to fish that I’ve had for over a year! Sorry my sweet pets. No more Biorb products for us!! Doing complete water changes, partial water changes, new filters and all new decorations, had water tested professionally and bottom line....filtration system is useless in this tank. ... show more

I purchased this for a Betta, I love it and so does my Betta, he can easy get air and loves the round. I put in live plants and small yellow silk plants on top of filter base then black smooth stones on top of the rocks that come with for Ceramic Media. I use conditioned water from my 32 gal water container I have for my Discus Aquarium. I am sure you could use water conditioner and Beneficial Bacteria liquid that comes with tank. Fish is doing very well and water checked out okay! Beautiful to look at a little different than a regular tank. This would be for one fish. (I have a black band around the top to keep the light reflection soft to look at) ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The black version is only reg led lights. The white one is your rgb led lights. My only issue is personal, figuring out how to work out the hardscape and soft scape.

For those of you complaining that the filter is not keeping the water clear, it's highly likely you're not including the necessary solutions (water conditioner, stabilization) for optimal results and care. These tanks are nice from far and far from nice. Worse of all the acrylic has a distorted view so your fish look magnified. I hate it. Also, the filters are lousy and you never have clear water. Skip these tanks and get a Fluval brand. Fluval makes the best filters. My Fluval tank looks like my fish are floating in air. This Biorb is a cloudy mess. Would never buy again. ... show more

Love this tank.. very beautiful and easy to set up. The bubbler is a little strong for Betta. Perfect for any other type of fish. Lighting is really nice also. I did have a problem with remote control. Very satisfied because upon contacting the company, they sent me a new one.
