Description

Reduce food waste and support composting with BioBag Food Scraps Bags. Designed for collecting kitchen waste like food scraps, these 3-gallon bags fit most countertop compost pails and are ideal for home, municipal, and community composting programs. BioBags are breathable, allowing moisture to evaporate and helping reduce odors caused by mold and bacteria. When paired with a ventilated bin, they create an effective system for managing food waste. Though not made to last forever, BioBags are strong enough for everyday use and break down in composting environments. Each bag is visibly printed with certified compostable labeling and meets ASTM D6400 standards, ensuring complete decomposition without harmful residues. Approved for use in green and brown cart communities that accept compostable plastics. For best results, use within one year of purchase and store in a cool, dry place. Change bags every 3–5 days to prevent condensation buildup. If you don’t use compost bags frequently, consider our 100-count option for better value. BioBag is a dedicated company focused solely on producing certified compostable bags and films. This product complies with California Law (SB 1972) and other state and local compostable labeling regulations.

  • The best compost bin
Style: 3 Gallon/With Bin
I have always wanted to compost at home; it felt wrong to throw carrot tops, strawberry hulls and other food scraps into the trash. But the fear of stinky kitchen bins that attracted bugs held me back; not to mention all the critters who would then come into my yard to feast in the outside composting bin. So I never did it. Recently my city started a food scrap drop off program in preparation for the new CA law that bans food scraps from the landfill. Having a place to take my scraps solved one big problem. Now I just needed a kitchen bin. After researching all the fancy (and expensive) bins on the market, I settled on this one. I liked the promise of a neat and stink-free collection site. That was a tall order since my drop off accepts pretty much everything: produce, meat, bones, eggshells, solid fats, and leftovers from dinner plates. Surely this stuff would get nasty after a few days. I must admit I was skeptical. And pleasantly surprised. This thing works. I put my scraps in the bin (lined with a compostable bag) and pull the handle forward to lock it. Twice a week I take the full bag down to the drop off site in a neighborhood park. Easy peasy. This bin takes the ick factor out of home composting. And I can feel good about doing my part to save the environment. It's a win win. EDIT Oct 2022 We recently had (yet another) ant infestation and the tiny buggers found their way into this bin. (Not surprising since they've been known to break into a sealed cereal bag.) So, unfortunately, I've had to stop using it. It was great while it lasted. I'm still leaving the 5 star rating, because it's a wonderful product and I'm sure it would keep bigger bugs out. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Style: 100 Count
These bags fit perfectly in our smaller garbage can and are very strong.

  • Made in USA
Love these bags. Quality is great. Like most compostable bags they do weaken when wet. Works great for everyday trash. A plus side they're made in the great USA. Do recommend.

  • Durable
Style: 100 Count
We place all our food compost into these bags and take our compost to a drop off site once every 2 weeks. The bags hold together in that time, not starting their decomposition too early and leaving us with a mess. The bags are slightly stretchy, preventing pointy compost items from poking a hole through the bag. As for size, we as a family of 3 filled 3 bags in a 2-week period. ... show more

  • Bags are a bit flimsy
Style: 100 Count
Bags are a bit flimsy, but if that helps them be more compostable I guess it’s a worthy sacrifice. I have noticed leaks through them though, and I don’t appreciate that.

  • Great for compost
Style: 100 Count
These seem like good quality bags that hold a lot of both weight and volume. My local compost place takes them so they function great for what I use them for. Easy to open and no plastic content makes me feel good about using them.

  • Great Biodegradable Bags
Style: 100 Count
Been using these for quite some time and have been happy with them. They fit the container the waste management company gave us to use for compostable household items. No complaints and gone through quite a few now. Price also is reasonable.

  • Best Compost Bin out there!
Style: 3 Gallon/With Bin
This is the best countertop compost bin out there, we've tried so many! This bin has excellent circulation, without which the bins always get stinky. This bin stays stinky free, unless we've left it too full for too long and its starting to mold. For two of us, we take it out once a week on average. When there were three of us, it was about every five days. This updated model also has a locking handle, so when you are carrying it out to the outside bin, it locks the lid on for no spills. It also has "channels" in the bottom, so that the bag sits up above any fluid if it gets a leak, and the edges are about 1.5 centimeters above the very bottom, so that fluid won't run out on the counter. It will leak if there is a lot of VERY wet and gooshy things in it for a long time - more than four or five days I find. But that is the point of a compostable bag - if it didn't start breaking down when it was warm and wet, it wouldn't be a compostable bag! We have coffee at least once a day, sometimes twice. That all goes in the bin, along with leftovers, scraps, and scary-things-going-bad-in-the-fridge. We don't have a problem in the week it is sitting on the counter, unless I also put in actual liquid. Just regular wet grounds are fine. It also is somewhat thin, but it is plenty strong. Our last version of this bin lasted for nearly ten years, and we only ordered a new one because my father in law accidentally threw out the mesh covering for the bottom - something the new one doesn't have at all, since they improved the design. Great bin, that will last for years and years! I will add that I was happy that this was clearly the original, correct product. All the instructions that came with it were in clear english. Unfortunately, there appears to be a huge influx of cheap knockoffs flooding Amazon, along with a lot of fake reviews (search for Fake Amazon reviews, or for cheap knockoffs Amazon, then select the news results, to see a ton of articles about this), so I am actually moving away from using Amazon any more, which is really disappointing, since I've loved using them for years. ... show more
