  • Loving the science and VR experience
Style: Bill Nye Space (2025 Version)
Gifted this to my 6-year-old space-obsessed daughter for her birthday, and it's been non-stop "Bill Nye time" in our house ever since. This version feels fresh with updated VR experiences and smoother app integration which is a huge bonus for STEM-loving families. What I Love Bill Nye's energy shines through in every VR clip. He's like your personal space tour guide, explaining black holes and rocket launches without dumbing it down. The 85-piece set packs a lot in there: everything from a mini planetarium dome to eruption kits, plus a 96-page interactive book that scans to AR videos. Hands-free VR goggles fit most smartphones (tested on iPhone 15 and Samsung S24 with no issues), and the app's 128 VR/AR experiences make learning feel like a video game. Perfect for ages 6-13, but I got hooked. Real-Life Blast-Off + VR Experience: Our kid spent hours "flying" through the solar system. The head-tracking works great, and you can look around asteroids like you're really there. + Educational Value: 15+ hands-on projects (build a rover, simulate a volcano) tie directly to VR explanations. It turns "why?" questions into "wow!" moments. She learned about Mars colonization without realizing it was a lesson. + Ease of Use: App setup took 5 minutes; book scans flawlessly. Goggles are comfy for short sessions (20-30 min), and cleanup's easy since most pieces store in the box. + Quality of Materials: Sturdy plastics and safe chemicals. There are no flimsy bits that break on day one. Book's glossy pages hold up to spills. + Value: This was $48 at time of review for the full kit (goggles included). It's comparable to other name brand sets, but way more interactive than what we already have. This version adds new space missions, making it feel current. Tiny Gripes App can be picky with phone settings. A few projects need household staples like vinegar, and experiments work best with parental guidance for younger kids. Not ideal for tablets. It's really smartphone only. Verdict Epic gateway to space science that sparks real curiosity. If your kid dreams of astronauts or just loves Bill Nye, this edition is a big brain gift. Already eyeing the combo pack with the original VR Science Kit for next holiday. Science rules! ... show more

  • Science can be FUN
Style: Bill Nye Space (2025 Version)
I picked up the Space Lab Bill Nye’s Virtual Reality Activity Set and was honestly really impressed with how much learning material it comes with. From chemistry to physics, the kit packs in a ton of hands-on activities that make science feel exciting instead of intimidating. The manual is the real MVP here—it walks you through everything step-by-step, and all the instructions are super easy to follow. I loved how the pictures come to life with the augmented-reality videos, and the VR goggles are a fun bonus that make the experiments and lessons feel immersive. What surprised me most was how much actual information I learned. Between planets, constellations, Earth science basics, and even how to use a compass, there was so much content I didn’t expect. The book has 89 pages of colorful visuals, explanations, and projects—plenty for curious kids or anyone who learns best by seeing, hearing, or doing. Hands-on learners will love the building activities, and visual learners will appreciate all the bright, detailed photos. I also liked that the kit works with several app options: the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and even the Abacus HQ app for tracking progress, which can be really helpful for parents. Overall, it’s a thoughtfully designed set that makes learning fun, interactive, and accessible. I had a great time exploring it, and it’s definitely something worth sharing with kids who love science—or who you hope will love science. --- Pros Tons of learning content (89 pages plus VR/AR features) Step-by-step manual is easy to follow Great for all learning styles: hands-on, visual, and auditory VR goggles add a fun, immersive element Comes with a lot of pieces to start experimenting right away Multiple app options, including one for progress tracking Educational but still genuinely fun to use Cons Some activities require extra household items VR goggles aren’t compatible with tablets Might feel a bit overwhelming for kids who prefer simpler kits ... show more

  • Great for kids with an imagination and curiosity as to why things happen
Style: Bill Nye Space (2025 Version)
You can't go wrong with Bill Nye the Science guy! I have a 100% feeling this is going to be amazing as there is so much interactive activities/projects to do. I got this for my great nephew and he has not received it yet. I am hoping he will have loads of fun doing these or maybe bring it to school for the class to do together. I will update this review once we start these during school vacation. ... show more
