Big Agnes Copper Spur series was and still is the best designed tent for ease of pitching and usable space for the footprint. It is good in foul weather if properly pitched. It needs 3 more stakes than it came with to properly pitch the fly against heavy wind. This version is 3/4 lb lighter and a tad smaller, and definitely feels more delicate (less durable) than my original but I prefer the new door zipper design, the sewn in overhead mesh storage, reflective guy lines, color coded straps and poles. All in all Big Agnes does great attention to detail in the Copper Spur series. My wife and I are 5'5" and 130 lbs range. I think large people would find it too small. ... show more

I bought this for my husband and when we got it we both thought it was light weight, a bit flimsy and we didn’t have high hopes. Boy were we wrong. Easy set up and shockingly durable. It was my first time camping and his 253rd time (approximate only - but a lot). It rained at some point almost everyday or at night and not a drop of water got in. It was in the 40’s at night and I was not cold one time. It was perfect. The best part: we were able to put everything back in the bag when we were finished - I had my doubts. Only thing I would advise is to order a few more stakes - we needed 4-6 additional. This is an awesome tent and comfortably for me, my husband and our 60 lb golden retriever. Haven’t taken the tent out yet so this is only half of a review. Will update after I hit the trail. I can say setup is easy and the tent is super light. I doubled my interior space while taking a pound off my dry weight. The material seems very thin but only time will tell. In order to tie the tent down for severe weather you need more stakes than the company provides. Not a game changer but if you plan on really severe weather you will need 12 not 8. The dual vestibules are a really nice touch. Given im a single camper my gear will be in the tent with me but to shelter wood, chairs etc at night will be very welcome. The conversion of a vestibule wall to a rain roof using trekking poles sounds better than it is. Having the “roof” to cook during the rain is a nice touch but if you have any wind the roof will be useless and the rain will likely get in your tent. (Used a sprinkler test and gusts of wind blew the water right into the tent wall). With the vestibule down, the tent was perfectly dry and shed the water without any problem. I’m really excited about this tent and have found no problems in back yard testing. I will update after my next trip which will be a winter camp. UPDATE- everything I wanted and then some! What a great tent. Fits perfectly in the long side-pocket of my GG mariposa. Made it through a really bad storm no issues. Set up easy peasy in the field. Lots of interior room at the same weight of most one man tents. Freestanding for my next trip into the high Sierras. Get this tent! Update #2. New info worth mentioning!! Sitting in camp in the great sand dunes nat park. Got a weather alert over the ZOLEO. 60-70 mph dust storm on the way!!!! Handled it like a champ. The wind speeds in our sheltered area were probably around 30-40 max but it keept about 90% of the sand out and stood up to hard winds for 3 days straight. I love this tent! It is light, easy to setup and take down. Very well designed. I also bought the compatible footprint for it. That was a very decision because the tent integrates with the footprint adding greater stability. There was plenty of room for me with my 6 foot 4 inch frame along with my backpack. I slept alone in the tent. However, it would be good for two adult persons. Fitting three adult persons would certainly be a challenge. ... show more

I have to say I was apprehensive about getting a 1 person tent. I have tried other brands and even the original copper spur ul1 and was not a fan. I just never seemed to have enough room in 1 person tents. However, Big Agnes got it right with this model! First off I love the new fabric and the olive color. Nice natural look for the outdoors. To give an idea on space, I'm not a slim guy. I'm 5'11" 215lbs with a wide, long torso and yet I felt nice and cozy! I had plenty of foot and head room (always a problem in other tents) and my klymit luxe sleeping pad (27" wide) filled out the tent floor perfectly. There was no slippage with the pad on the tent floor. Also the pockets inside the tent are awesome. The 3d pocket hanging over the foot of the tent is perfect for stuffing a down jacket. The multiple gear loops are also a great feature. Nice for hanging your watch, mini lantern etc. The HV walls of the tent make it feel more spacious and my shoulders and head did not hit the top of the tent like other 1 person models. Although, I'm used to the width of 2 man tents, it felt nice and cozy inside the HV model and I did not feel crammed. The width was more like a hammock. However, If you want more liveabilty and space for gear etc. I highly suggest going with the 2 man. But if your looking for a smaller set up that takes up less pack space and weight definitely go with this! ... show more

Finding a footprint is a nightmare (see my review on the footprint product page) and I'm already seeing some issues with the tent after a single gentle use, such as one of the door flap holds is already ripped almost in half. More importantly than all of that, THIS THING IS NOISY AS HELL. I couldn't even sleep. 1) It didn't rain a single drop all night, yet the slight wind made a popping sound on the rainfly that simulated constant raindrop noise all night long. Sounds potentially pleasant? It absolutely was not. It was like dry waterboarding. 2) The way the outside flaps (tightened down as much as possible) crackled in the breeze simulated the exact footstep sound shared by hungry bears and backcountry rapists. I swear to god I woke up to the nightmarish sounds of feet on dirt about 3 dozen times. Probably took 2 years off the lifespan of my heart. Since I can't find a single complaint about noise or sound anywhere, I'm going to give it another try. Hopefully it just needs to break in or something? I'll update my review then. ... show more
