I had been looking at buying one of the DT models for over a year, but wasn't able to decide which (plus wasn't sure if I really needed to add another pair of headphones to my collection). I ended up choosing the 990s because I hadn't tried open back headphones before. For reference I also have Senheiser Momentum 3s and Bose QC25. Let me just say these are absolutely great, especially at the price point. I use them for casual listening as well as for my guitar in my amp. I would absolutely recommend these to anyone for pretty much any reason except maybe those that want a portable casual wear. The long non removable cord and the inability to fold makes them not suited as much for that. The main pros to consider: Lightweight Open back airy sound environment Balanced sound stage (trebs a little higher) Super comfortable for long use Good build quality Some cons in my opinion: No removable cord Metal edges a little sharp on band Pivot cover pieces look "cheap" (Though pivot feels sturdy) They don't match the audio quality of the senheisers, however for more than $100 cheaper I wouldnt expect them too. But they blow away almost any headphone at this price and the comfort and feel makes them match up against higher priced options. The bass is a little lacking, but not bad, the mids are great, and the treble is slightly much for me. I'd happily buy again! ... show more

    • Lasted 7 Weeks! Now Worthless.
Got 1 1/2 months out of them before cord issues cropped up. Was completely useless about a week later. My son read on line about some kind of cord upgrade you can make but a $200 set of headphones shouldn’t require such. Will not purchase beyer products again.
