  • Timely Arrival
This shelf unit arrived before expected, and, was easy to assemble. In use, it feels a tad smaller than the actual dimensions - possibly because the main support pieces have some heft. It serves its purpose well.

  • Stylish
Color: Black
So I Have bought and used Several of these for about 5 years now. And found many area uses for them. I have many more that are not in Pics. And theres no Clutter with them. I Only buy Shelves from Better Homes and Gardens. Because they have a better use and more space for Storage Bins for me than past ones i have owned. The Complements never stop coming when someone New walks in my place to see them. Con: The Sturdiness could be a Little better. But if u put some of those L shape brackets on the end corners it should help... Just thought of that 🤔after all this time😱 as im writing this. Duh! But im going to order more when we move for my Sons Room. Love them! Im stuck on these. Hard to catch at good prices tho Now! ... show more

  • Great Product, Terrible Shipping Time
Product looks great, was easy to assemble and helps us organize our items. However, the ONLY downside to this purchase was the timeframe of our shipping. It took nearly a month to get!

  • Arrived quickly, easy to assemble, looks good, appears sturdy

I like it! Very nice and perfect for what I intended. Well worth the cost.

  • Good - but not as described
Good product quality. I received a different color than what's shown in the picture and this is NOT wood. Light weight and easy to assemble. The price dropped $20 after I purchased this unit from the same buyer. I feel ripped off

  • Look nice, but made from very low quality materials.
Color: Black
First the good... 1) All the parts were there, 2) The instructions were clear and easy to follow, 3) I love the chunky look, 4) the bookshelf is fairly lightweight given its size, but this is because low quality materials are used so this is both good and bad, 5) all the holes lined up properly and were drilled to similar depths making the shelving easy to assemble, 6) Unlike many other low priced shelves, the openings are 13"x13" permitting taller books to fit comfortably, and that is a big plus. Next the marginal... 1) the packing was marginal - Fortunately, my boxes didn't appear to have been dropped on a corner or edge, or to have other items fall on them during shipping. If that had happened, I am pretty certain that the shelves would have sustained damage inside the carton. Lastly, the poor... 1) the black covering on the shelves is really nothing more than thin veneer of pressed paperboard (about 1/16" thick) that has black paper (about the thickness of a fingernail) covering it. If you are expecting these to be covered in a durable plastic laminate, you'll be disappointed. It doesn't take much to scratch the paper covering on the surfaces (leaving a light colored line). 2) In fact, there were several places on my two units that had short scratches and pin head sized nicks in the paper. I found that a black sharpie marker adequately filled in these blemishes and was also useful for darkening the edges or the components where the pressed paper backing showed on some of the corners. If you buy a color other than black, it may be trickier to hide scratches. If you plan to use a slide in/out basket, the shelf surface will likely show wear very quickly. 3) When I removed the shelves from the box, they were covered in tiny, shiny fibers (looked a lot like insulation particles). Had I known that the shelves were contaminated, I would have opened the boxes outside. As it is, I had to wash down every surface to eliminate the fibers. 4) Under the veneer, the small shelves and the ends of the other boards are made of particle board. The sides and ends are lighter weight than I would expect if they were solid particle board, so I suspect the centers of the side and end boards are made of some sort of rigid foam. I suppose, if you like the shelves and wanted to improve on them you could put laminate on all the colored parts of the unit. That would make them stronger, and less subject to scratching and dents without adding a lot of weight. However, buyers shouldn't have to re-engineer a product to get something that is durable. Considering the low quality, at $49, I think these are a bit over priced. You may be able to get these for about $39 at Walmart because you won't be paying extra for shipping, and that is getting closer to a reasonable price for what you are actually getting. ... show more

  • Looks very nice

  • Good Organizer!
I would like to start my review by pointing out that this is put it together your self, laminate pressed board furniture. It is what it is. I would not dance on it or toss it around the room. I bought this for my daughters room. It was actually larger than I had hoped and we have yet to fill it up- plenty of storage space here! The color is a nice neutral gray. We had no assembly issues and it went together rather quickly. We did chip a corner of the laminate on one piece when we dropped during assembly (totally our fault.) I would recommend putting it on a soft surface to assemble. It is pretty sturdy- sturdy enough that I feel comfortable leaving it in a child's room. That is saying a lot because kids do crazy things! I was able to find the storage bins at a local store that also sells BH&G products. This could also be useful as t.v. console due to the dimensions. ... show more
