We used to go camping with these thinner, self-inflating mattresses. But its no fun any longer (we are getting older…). Our backs hurt too much in the next morning. Since we did not want to give up camping, we tried these memory foam mattresses and are very pleased with them. No more back pain. Totally worth the money. They are good quality, easy to roll out and up, have a great transporting bag and a soft cover on the side where you sleep. The cover can also be completely removed for washing if needed. Two fit easily into our two-person tent. As long as you are not size limited (e.g., plan to do backpack hiking) but have a car to drive up to your camping spot, these are great mattresses. I would think there are too large to carry them around during a hike (unless it is the only thing you carry). BTW, I think they also make good guest beds if you have friends visiting. Haven‘t tried yet, but seems like a good option. ... show more

I bought 3 when we moved so we could sleep on them until we got new beds. My husband and daughter just said they don’t want furniture because they love the mats and all the extra space when the mats are rolled up.

I like to sleep on a hard surface, like the floor, and you won't have lower back pain...true! I heard this from a chiropractor on the radio during the early 1980s...lower back pain will be gone. You get back pain from a soft mattress...yes, it's true, like it or not. I liked to start sleeping lying on my right side; however, after so many years of that routine, I pinched a nerve,...and the pain was EXCRUCIATING!!! Painfull numbness and tingling from my right elbow to my hand when I woke up in the morning...HORRIBLE!! I bought the foam floor mattress, and after awhile and sleeping on my LEFT SIDE too, the morning pain went away, but it did take a couple of months. Did I go to the doctor?...Yes. He gave me some pills, but they only helped me somewhat, not completely. I think that the foam mattress made the greatest difference. The foam mattress allowed my "pinched" nerve(s) time to heal. The down side. Yes, the pinced-nerve pain is gone, BUT since I sleep on a soft surface, the floor-mattress, morning back pain has returned. In time I want to return to sleeping on a hard surface again...and hence, no morning lower back pain either. ... show more

I took this on a two week road trip with my two kids who are 16 and 11. We had hotel rooms with two beds in each place. My son who is 11 slept on this on the floor as he preferred this to sleeping with me or his sister. I brought a sheet with us and asked each hotel for blanket or cover. He never complained. Pros: the mat is easy to roll up and fit into the roomy carry bag. For multiple night use it’s easy to fold in half and stash behind a couch. No odor, it fully opened in a couple of hours. Cons: it’s just not thick enough. For memory foam to be comfortable it has to be thick enough to fill in the gaps between your body and the mat; this one is t thick enough for that - especially if you are a side sleeper. ... show more

I was tired of buying self-inflating mattress that would inevitably begin leaking, so I decided to shop for a memory foam mattress for car camping. I looked at so many similar products and read so many reviews before finally buying the BETTER HABITAT SleepReady Portable Floor Bed. It was around $20 more than similar products, but I was happy to pay that for better quality. Many reviews of other products complained of the poor quality of the cover or the mattress itself, but it arrived yesterday and I could tell right away that it was not the typical cheap made-in-China product. The cover is high quality, including both the zipper and the storage straps which are conveniently attached to it. The mattress easily fits into the included carrying case with minimal effort. Most importantly, the mattress is true memory foam and compares in quality to the mattress toppers I have on my and my kids' beds. Many reviewers of other products complained that they had received a regular foam mattress and not memory foam, which I definitely wanted. It came vacuum-sealed in a surprisingly small box, but seemed ready for use within an hour even though the instructions recommended waiting 1-2 days. It only had a mild foam smell when i first opened it and that smell was completely gone by the time I slept on it that night. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a spare bed or car-camping mattress! ... show more
