  • a very good machine at a fair price.
The only complaint would be the lack of a manual. I had a similar machine before so it was not a problem.I was not aware of it being a metric machine.

  • That it will last a long time.
It seems to work good, the plastic chuck guard was broken , and there was no lamp like the picture showed. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

  • Its a mini lathe
I bought this as my first lathe. These machines, no matter which brand, are a little finicky and require tuning to get working properly. I gave this purchase a 5 star because I had an issue with the lathe that was sent and the vendor responded to me promptly and went above and beyond to take care of me. Thank you so much!!! I will buy from this vendor again. The lathe is accurately represented. If you are new to lathe work, take the time to clean and tune the machine before you start, take the control panel cover off and add a small piece of plastic or protection over the control board to ensure no metal shavings hit the control board, tighten the gibs and mount the machine to a table. ... show more

  • The instruction book is a joke. It has very little real information in it.
This is not a bad lathe for the money. I have had no problem working mild steel with it. It does have some problems. First, the instruction book is almost useless. That is because it lacks so much information. For example, the screws used to turn the cross slide are under the complex slide. You have to back out the slide all the way to reach them. The book does not show this at all. Second, and a bigger problem is that while they give you a change gear set and minimal instruction on how to use them, the do not provide an index dial . This is a dial that is attached to the drive worm screw. As the screw turns, the dial rotates. It has a number of numbers on it. When cutting threads, which the machine is set up to do, you use that dial to align the screw to the correct position so that once you start a thread, you can place you cutter in the same position and the screw is synchronized with the cutter so that the tread is repeatable. T hey even have a chart on the front of the gear box that tells you the numbers that you use to cut a particular thread-but the dial indicator is not there! It is not missing- the product photos do not show one and yet, you cannot cut proper threads without one. I have one one order from China we'll see how that goes. Otherwise, I was impressed by the packaging. It came bolted to a wooden crate. The bottom chip tray attaches to the bottom of the lathe with the rubber feet and the screws they provide[-although this is something else that is not mentioned at all in the instruction book. Finally, if the tailstock just will not line up properly, you can adjust its lateral position. You must remove it, though and on the bottom of the tailstock you will find a screw in a slot. Loosen the screw and realign it in the slop to change the position of the tailstock. Again, you wont find that in the instruction book either. ... show more

  • Where do I start….
Well , it came in early…. That’s about as much of a compliment I’m going to give. The center is far from center. Handles we broken (okay I’m a machinist no problem) went to mount the lathe to the table and there were two broken off taps in both the back leg support cast. Gears shift is terrible. Low rpm is not concentric with vibration so I wouldn’t recommend any speed less than max (probably cheap bearings) . The dead man stock is very difficult to use because the nut hangs on every center cast support so somebody didn’t do their math correctly….. Yes I’m going to keep it and make my own parts to improve it but it’s pretty terrible value for the money.. ... show more

  • Pretty well made, standard mini lathe.
Pretty happy with it, I recommend stripping it down, clean it up, and assemble it to your own satisfaction. Go through all the hardware, tighten everything up, make it yours.

  • You do get what you pay for
The media could not be loaded. So first and foremost, whoever put together the box didn't think things through. The person bolted down one side and left the other loose leading to two bent bolts. I don't know if these were the ones to hold a clippings or not but this could have damaged the foot they were bolted into. Second, the weld on the lever in the back wasn't good. It broke and I had to reweld it. Otherwise the machine runs good. Little bit of noise once the feed bar is engaged which does concern me but I have ideas for improving that. It would have been worth the extra 50 60 bucks for those gears to have been made out of steel instead of plastic. ... show more
